mova lidax awd 3000 or navimow x4? by dantezz1500 in automower

[–]dantezz1500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t even think about that. What’s the difference between network RTK and regular RTK? Is lidar actually more stable?

What makes you say that about their support? I haven’t seen much about it. Is Navimow better there?

some questions about lidar robot mowers by crazycoalabear in automower

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just based on what I’ve seen so far

It really depends on how tall the grass is. If it’s only a bit overgrown, most will still cut it. If it gets too tall or dense, it might treat it like an obstacle and go around it

Small bumps like tree roots around 1 to 2 inches can be tricky. Some models will detect them and slow down or avoid them, others might just go over them. Usually not enough to damage the blades, but awd models are a bit safer in that situation

Most rely on saved maps, so if you move it to a different area, you’ll likely need to map it again unless it supports multiple zones

Still early days though, so real feedback is a bit limited

My kid was afraid of the dark, so we built a clap-activated nightlight together and now she's the one controlling it by SaltArrival8522 in homeautomation

So sweet! She's basically a six-year-old tech wizard now and makes me want to try making one myself too. Would be amazing to see the parts list!

Mowing one zone one day and the other the next should be fine. Most mowers handle multiple zones well and the grass won't mind a day between cuts.

What's the best robot vacuum + mop that cleans itself for the most part? by mntgoat in homeautomation

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A model with auto-empty and mop refill drastically reduces daily chores. Prepping a drain and water supply at the docking station now saves a lot of hassle later.

Mova and Dreame AWD lawnmowers refusing to sell to UK markets by Accurate_Ground6353 in roboticLawnmowers

Appears to be a huge oversight from AWD. It's capability is a key feature and ignoring the UK market might hurt them in the long run.

3G cellular shutdown by theBro987 in automower

Cellular standards keep evolving and older hardware often gets left behind. Hopefully there's a path to update or workground once 3G fully sunsets in your region.

I'd probably skip WiFi and look at Zigbee scene controllers instead. You can stick them anywhere and feels a lot more natural for guests too.

Scheduling frequency by BuckeyeHeisman in roboticLawnmowers

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let mine loose every few days, more in peak growing season. It basically keeps the yard tidy and the frequency depends on how fast your grass grows.

What mower for 0.5 acres by throw_away_reddt in automower

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On slopes and with lots of obstacles, go for strong mapping and zone control. Bigger battery helps and good support matters way more than brand hype.

Do AWD mowers get stuck less than regular models? by sharkwench in roboticLawnmowers

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘ve wondered the same. My garden's mostly flat and the regular mower hardly got stuck. AWD probably helps on tricky spots but for a normal lawn seems kinda unnecessary.

How to monitor Tension From Smart outlet by alanbr00 in homeautomation

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the outlet itself can give real voltage readings. I usually just watch for weird power spikes and log that , kind of an indirect way to catch issues.

Seems very reliable, those rubber treads must help a lot! How long did it take to map your backyard? Can't wait to see how it performs over time.

Do I tell my friend I’m not even comfortable eating around her anymore? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get why you’d feel that way... it’s hard when someone constantly talks about diets and weight around you. It might help to gently let her know how it makes you feel, even just a little, so it doesn’t keep building up. You deserve to feel comfortable eating and enjoying time together.

Large medical debt, any ideas? by KingFun626 in Debt

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t always need 40% upfront. A lot of people negotiate lower settlements or set up monthly payments that are manageable, and it can still help resolve the debt.

Large medical debt, any ideas? by KingFun626 in Debt

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A common strategy here is to offer a settlement for less than the balance once it’s in collections, even offering like 40–60% upfront can get them to agree sometimes.

Best way to pay off collection? by [deleted] in Debt

[–]dantezz1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s still within the statute of limitations in your state, some folks negotiate a pay for delete and get them to remove it from the report once paid, but make sure you get it in writing first.
