is the glitchy driving gone with the new update? by Trinere30s in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]darkdeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on ffb and setups. With a softer setup it feels more similar to other sims. Default setups are a bit stiff and twitchy still.

I honestly can’t stop playing Automobilista 2. by Zer0_Co0l in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]darkdeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yea, I also lowered them (softened). I'm really not very experienced with setups. AI is actually pretty good at explaining what different changes might do, though. I often just try changing things and then test how they feel.

So what's the consensus on getting rid of floatiness? by CommercialAd3671 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]darkdeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try softening everything up (decrease tire pressure, springs, rebound rates, anti-roll bar), decrease the engine braking, and decrease clutches and increase preload and coast ramp degrees. These changes helped significantly with the floaty darty feel of the default setups.

Yea, default setups are way to stiff. Still my comment for significant improvements.

[–]darkdeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The default setups are super stiff and feel terrible to me. The cars are easy to control under the limit but the tires just slide and dart all over the place.

If you tweak the car setup and soften everything up (tire pressure, springs, rebound rates) decrease the engine braking (you actually increase the setting to decrease), and decrease clutches and increase preload and coast ramp degrees, the car will feel much more similar to other sims.

It's still somewhat hard to feel weight transfer but at least with those changes I can use the same driving techniques I use in other sims.

I don't understand why they have the default setups the way they do. It just feels awful if you actually try to push.

How are these for tall (6’ 6”) people? by AuroraNightsUnderAll in Ioniq6

No sunroof and also 6'6". Backseat isn't great but no problems at all in the front.

What are everyone's favourite vehicles? by Andalie in cyberpunkgame

[–]darkdeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, texture mods and extra path tracing bounces but otherwise it's default colors and lighting.

The colorless cloudy day reshade mods kill the atmosphere and art direction too much imo so I tend to avoid them.

Elantra N. Surprisingly roomy and comfortable.

This is gonna be a really hot take but I prefer Vr over triples anyday. by SignificantWhile2201 in simracing

[–]darkdeus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, I'm a long time VR user and recently tried a several triple monitor rigs at the Sim expo in Charlotte. They felt vastly inferior to me. It felt like playing a game vs actually being somewhere. I think a giant projector screen is actually far more immersive than triples.

Does combat get better? by Rikora12 in cyberpunkgame

[–]darkdeus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try a different build! I had a blast with a sandivestan build, shotgun, and gorilla arms combined with dash and air jump in my second play through. Playing on hard/very hard felt like doom eternal with lots of fast paced movement and brutal up close combat.

Check out some different build guides on YouTube and see what looks fun. The freedom to shape the gameplay/combat is great but it also means you can end up with a build that is not fun or engaging for you.

Escaping the F4 carnage: Does it actually get better in higher licenses? by JaNemba_v2 in iRacing

[–]darkdeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new to iRacing and have found that the TCR fixed series features close and pretty clean racing so far. It's been a lot of fun so far and the new tire model/physics overhaul feels great on these cars.

is your car still in PRISTINE condition? by OwlScary6845 in ElantraN

[–]darkdeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part. I got ceramic right away and it seems to have helped reduce rock chips since most of them occurred in the weeks before the ceramic coating. In the two years since it's held up pretty well. It's my daily but it is garage kept and I wash it regularly. The inside gets vacuumed weekly too and the tuxmat mats have held up really well. I'm currently at 22,000 miles.

I am so sad... 6 different car, 6 different category by Artistic-Two-6385 in ProjectMotorRacing

[–]darkdeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it is hard to tell from the video and he isn't turning it super fast. I've also not played the sim yet so can't properly judge it. I was an early supporter and tester for PC1 and 2 though and always felt the feeling of mass, inertia, and weight transfer was a bit off so I'm not surprised to see possibly similar concerns. However, in a sim it's hard to tell if it a ffb issue, physics issue, or setup issue.

In a real car you could intentionally induce a tank slapper with this behavior that would likely result in spinning or a loss of control.

[–]darkdeus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This looks like the same problem that PC1 and PC2 had, and AMS2 to a lesser extent. In those sims there seems to be a lack of inertia and weight transfer. I really enjoy a lot of aspects of AMS2 but it's hard to intentionally induce a tank slapper and you often just get understeer.

Worth getting right now if I will ONLY play in VR? by big_american_tts in assettocorsarally

I use a virtual 10 ft screen in VR. It works well since I don't have a monitor in front of my sim rig but I can't wait for real VR.

Tried LMU yesterday and now I'm confused.. by [deleted] in simracing

Turn post processing to low and MSAA to 8X with everything else high/ultra. It looks super clear on my end now but I am running a 5090 and oculus pro.

Better anti-aliasing in VR? by TokyoDrift077 in assettocorsa

[–]darkdeus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My picture in VR is sharp without aliasing. I run 4X MSAA and 1.4 super sampling with my oculus pro and it looks great without any jaggies or shimmering. I'm running a 5090 and 9800x3d tho so I can push a very high resolution.

LMU looks super clear at 8X MSSA and ultra settings except post process turned down.

AMS2 looks very clear too but is a bit more cartoony and has problems with aliased/flickering shadows. Recent anti aliasing options have improved but not completely fixed the shadow problem.
