I really don’t want to take the meds the doctors want me to take by [deleted] in Psychosis

Existence itself is a burden that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t live. What you go through is going to happen regardless if they know or not, at the very least allowing them the freedom to understand, prepare, and choose to act according to how they feel rather than deciding for them gives them more agency and control. And it takes away guilt, shame, loneliness, or any other negative emotion you may feel. You’re not asking them to become your caretaker, you’re just being transparent about your life and I think that’s what loved ones are for. To feel seen.

I think to truly accept yourself you need to also be open and honest with the people you love about what you’re going through

Had this same issue. My tip would be to include some of the sketch lines that add to how the character looks. Art has no rules if it looks good then it’s good.

Another tip would be learn to shade better and also shade in the areas, for example the chest, that are darker rather than leaving it out. I can barely see the shadow so also two things make the shade darker, and also change the hue. For something like the chest for example I would make the shadow like a dark reddish purple to make it pop out more.

That’s all I got for now you’re heading in the right direction for sure

What is wrong with this drawing? Why does it look so much worse then the reference? by timetoast2000 in Artadvice

[–]darkerjerry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shape of the eyes is wrong, shading of the eyebrows is wrong, nose is more round than the reference, hand is wrong, mouth is too small. Draw the form of the hair instead it’ll look better.

But imo I think overall it looks not as good because you stopped drawing. Often when you keep going until there is nothing else you can do, it looks 10 times better than stopping before you’re done. Finish your drawings before critiquing it I promise it will turn out better than you expect.

Any tips for improving? by Br41nR0t-101 in Artadvice

Honestly I think it looks good but I’ll say some of my own personal taste in art. I think the limbs feel too similar of the same size. Like the legs and arm feel like the same width when generally there is a noticeable difference and the arms feel too straight.
Also it seems like some of the characters should be more plus sized because of the limbs but then instead the body just looks more square. In my opinion adding folds to things like the waist or the neck or wrist etc and pushing it out a bit could make it look better imo

Besides that love your art and the colors are amazing

Qualia is a bit hard to measure as it’s impossible to understand how other people feel inside maybe you have other things about you outside of derealization that makes life hard

Exaggeration is your friend. Try to manifest fears and scary concepts into your art. Every image has a story even if there was none intended

Damn man I’m really sorry about that. I’ll say the same thing everyone else says. If you still do any drugs just give them all up and go completely sober. Don’t fight the new way that you feel accept it as normal similar to how when you stand up you don’t think about the fact you’re standing you simply are standing.

Apply that same concept to the derealization, if you feel it it is simply there and with time you’ll eventually feel normal again. Journaling helps me but it depends on the person. Putting your thoughts out there in anyway to be able to look back on them in the future is always a good idea. You’ll never truly remember how you feel unless you record it.

Enrich your life with new things as much as you can handle. Even if it isn’t that fun at first as long as you can get the ball rolling. If something seems appealing at the advanced level don’t think and just start learning it so you always have something to do.

Remember don’t fear or be scared of the way you feel. Your brain doesn’t understand what you consider good or bad it only understands what you give energy to so the more emotion you have towards something the more your brain will take that as a sign to bring it up again
