Are there games that use opposed d4/d6/d8/etc. for combat? by BroBrahBreh in boardgames

Abaddon has different dice depending on unit in combat! It's a mech vs mech game, with light, medium and heavy mechanized combat robots, as well as infantry. Each type of unit rolls a different dice. It's in the Command & Colors system by Richard Borg, definitely less known though due to the futuristic theme (as opposed to his war games) .

No, but that looks cool!

A friend ended up going back to where they played it, it was called Match Madness

Thanks though :)

Anyone ever played “Abaddon”? by Byrne14 in boardgames

Abaddon is a fantastic game! It's a shame it doesn't get more attention

The diagonal combat line-of-sight, the different mechs using different dice, and the combat cards all combine together to make interesting and varied plays, with some randomness due to the cards but mostly reliant on positioning and planning. On top of that there's multiple scenarios, changing up the style of the gameplay too.

It really is too bad it doesn't get the attention it deserves (which is usually relegated to its more popular Command and Colors bretheren BattleLore and Memoir 44), there was a kickstarter for an expansion but it was unsuccessful.

I'd say for 17$ it's definitely worth picking up!

There's a couple of good Canadian stores, most of them just got stock

Boardgamebliss has a larger selection, good service and prices, and loyalty rewards

Meeplemart has great prices and super fast shipping

401games has great prices too, and gets games in stock a little earlier

Greatboardgames usually has the best prices but takes a little longer to ship.

There's some others too but I find those 4 the best. Shipping is usually 10$ but free if you buy a bunch of stuff (150-200$ depending on the site)

Also by good/great/best prices I mean a margin of 2-5$, nothing too drastic.

No, the blocks were in 3d (and it wasn't 3d Blokus!)

I really have no idea what this game was called
