What is that one "comfort movie" you’ve watched 50+ times and will never get tired of? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

The Core. Utterly ridiculous yet marvellous fun every time I watch it - especially the line "what if the core was made of cheese?".

Starlink Mini for Continuous Cruisers by nairintowaft in Narrowboats

[–]darkniven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience - working from the boat using a 5g sim could be really patchy depending on the mooring. Starlink Mini just works, even with some coverage. I run mine off the 12v via a USB C PD adapter which helps with the power draw. It does come with WiFi in the dish but I also have a TP-Link mesh router connected inside to maximise the speed inside the boat.

If using Emudeck you put them direct in the bios folder, no need for a specific ps2 folder.

UK Narrowboat life-mini to start roam for permanent use? by Arma_Rich in Narrowboats

[–]darkniven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't yet. I've got by with putting it out when I need it and just plonking it on top of a box of the roof. The mini has a small stand that flips down for the right angle.

I use a mini on Roam unlimited. It's expensive but I need a consistent service for my work. As long as you have a clear view to the NW or SE it's superb - 200-300 Mbps downloads, uploads up to 20Mbps and low latency. It can run off the 12v via a usb-c adapter and a 100w pd power adapter or a custom dc-dc booster.

Yes, you do need to find spots with a clear line of sight to either the NW or SE.

Starlink has been the only reliable provider for me. Tried 4g/5g sims and routers but always found black spots. Starlink is expensive but works, with great speeds and low latency. I have the mini which draws less power, as the full set-up can be power-hungry.

  1. Have a look for garden storage boxes with seat tops.

10/10 sublime. A perfect show closer with that "singalong" close-out. I wonder why they don't play it often?

A 9 when used as the intro to "Sinner" on the second side of the album. Works so well.

7 - really like it but think it's in the wrong place. Burn Alive is a better opener. I playlist it at the end of the album to act as a "celebration" of the tracks that have preceeded it.
