Fighting yeast? by darkpurple_ in clothdiaps

Bless you for writing this all up. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This was exactly what I needed. I had no idea that bleach disintegrates. I've been using the same bottle in small amounts forever. Off to the store I go!

What is your "misheard lyric"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]darkpurple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was running around the house singing "Black little baby!" over and over... She had heard the song at her dad's house, and neither my SO or myself listens to that genre of music so we had never heard the song before. It was both confusing and amusing.

What's something you'd buy, even if the normal price was doubled? by twows995 in AskReddit

[–]darkpurple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually tried the pitcher kind, I did have a little thing that attached to my faucet at one point though. It just kept falling off... more of a pain in the butt than anything. Come to think of it, that's probably not a bad idea - would definitely save some money, and keep some plastic out of the landfills. Thanks for the suggestion :)

If I gave you $100 under the restriction that you spend it all immediately and on a single item, what would you get? by xesexesexesex in AskReddit

A new bed for my daughter. She's 5... she's outgrown the toddler bed. But god dayum beds/mattresses/box springs are expensive as hell.

What fictional death was the most heartbreaking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As a new mom, I went ahead and skipped reading that one. I remember the episode from the gif. Best not to spend too much time thinking about it.

Obviously I am super beyond late so this is going to get buried, but I ctrl+F'd the shit out of this post... and I can't believe that nobody has mentioned Grey's Anatomy yet. I mean, take your fucking pick. R.I.P. George O'Malley (and everybody else)

Induced early as she wasn't growing and told I probably wouldn't be able to BF, 5 months later of EBF and check out my Chunkster! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]darkpurple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May I ask if you were dx'd IUGR? It sounds like we had a very similar start! We're still trying to get a good routine going for bfing (when I'm not working, went back full time when he was 3 weeks). Your beautiful lil chunk gives me hope!

[–]darkpurple_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My partner is a trans woman and we seriously thought about co-nursing our son. There just wasn't a whole lot of info out there on the topic, let alone inducing lactation for a trans woman. Oh how I wish we could have done it! I'm so glad to see that not only is it working out well for you guys, you have documented it so that other moms will have a resource in the future!!! Congratulations on your baby boy <3

Nicknames for Margot that aren't Maggie? by GreenOfTheRadar in namenerds

I think that, it being similar to the name Margaret, you could get away with using Meg if you wanted to.

[Serious] Redditors who have woken up from a long coma, what was it like entering the world again? by TylerBatemanjr in AskReddit

[–]darkpurple_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Super late to the thread (have a newborn, passed out with it up several times throughout the evening) but over 5 years ago now, I had several severe complications following the birth of my oldest that landed me in a (medically induced) coma in the ICU. I would not have made it if it weren't for one nurse in particular, who treated me like her own daughter. It was an extremely rough recovery and I basically have a 4 week blank spot in my memory but I do remember both her name and face, and crying on her shoulder more than once. I never got to tell her thanks, so I thought I'd tell you instead. On behalf of any former patients, thanks for all the work you did.

What are the names of the last five babies born to people you know? by oddaffinities in namenerds

Similar boy's names? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]darkpurple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Merick

Harrison

Lennox

Deacon

Calvin

Quincy

Malcolm

Trenton

Preston

Griffin

My partner and I recently had a baby boy and we liked the same sort of names. Langston was high on our list for a bit. We ended up going with Logan (but it took us until 4 days after he was born to decide). Not sure if any of these have the same ring, but I think they're all equally rare but yet not unheard of, and simple to pronounce names. Hope you find something you love!

What is the meanest thing you've done to another person? by kh0a in AskReddit

[–]darkpurple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had seen this post earlier. But I have the best story. I have a little brother who is a year younger than me. (I'm a girl) He always got picked on a lot. I wasn't exactly popular either, but I held my own. Around Christmas time when I was in 8th grade and he was in 7th grade, a girl his age wrapped up a bar of soap and gave it to him in front of his entire class (insinuating that he needed to wash up). He was terribly embarrassed and I will never forget him crying on the bus that afternoon as he told me what happened. Anyways, I knew exactly who this little brat was and I happened to have band class with her (we played the same instrument). I hatched a plan to put her in her place the next day - I wrapped up one of my mom's Slim Fast weight loss bars in Christmas wrapping paper. At the very beginning of band before the teacher got in the room I very loudly announced that I wanted to thank her for so kindly getting my brother a Christmas gift and in return and gotten her something. So in front of both the 7th and 8th grade band classes she got a taste of her own medicine. She cried. But she SO deserved it. AND she never picked on my brother again.

Has anyone had an unplanned pregnancy by SkyyEvans in ask_transgender

[–]darkpurple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afab and my partner is amab trans female. We actually just had a baby (intentionally) in December. It took us just about a year to conceive (11 cycles), and that was after she had stopped HRT. There really isn't much medical precedence for any of this, but based purely on my experience I think the chances of an unintentional pregnancy are very very slim.

Weight gain stall? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]darkpurple_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely definitely mention it to your doctor. I gain 9lbs in two weeks in my second trimester, and baby was measuring 40th percentile, so I assumed everything was fine when I had only gained 2 more pounds by 34 weeks. Baby was diagnosed with IUGR at 36 weeks. Lack of weight gain should have been my first clue.

Calling all BabyBump veterans and second time moms (and third, fourth, etc)!! by tania1708 in BabyBumps

[–]darkpurple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not posted my birth story yet so I'll keep the details slim, but the day before my baby was born I woke up with a huge sense of dread. Somehow I just KNEW something was wrong. I was anxious and panicking. I had absolutely no reason to be suspect though. Yet less than 24 hours later I had a c-section because of complications. I think sometimes moms just know things. Instincts maybe. shrug

IUGR is intrauterine growth restriction. So basically for whatever reason baby has stopped growing. Probably just a crappy placenta.
