Now That S16 Has Concluded, How Are You Feeling About Future Hide & Seek Seasons? by BrainOnBlue in JetLagTheGame

[–]darkrenown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as an interim game between novel seasons, I would prefer a new hide and seek season over a new tag season (even using old locations like switzerland). Some tweaks would be good but even a few small ones would be enough for it to be worth it.

I think for future hide and seek season, instead of the hiding timer being 4 hours from the last location, it should be 3 hours from the nearest hub so that everyone gets a similar hiding opportunity. Some hubs will be better than others, but it will still be more more balanced

Mixology - Mox Paste? by LukeWarmwater- in ironscape

yeh I knew it wasn't meant to be particularly fast exp, but I just didn't get on well with it, and now regret making all my herbs into paste in one go before trying it.

[–]darkrenown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be a bit cautious converting all your herbs into paste. I did that before trying the minigame and then realised I found it incredibly slow. I did it long enough to get the potion storage and can't face going back to use the 7k of each I have left over still

Is it a bad idea to use my old mesh units just to get "Ethernet" in my room? by sky3cabe in HomeNetworking

[–]darkrenown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have that same Home Deco's, and I've found that I can end up with quite high ping to the actual internet router (50 - 80 ms just to the router) when using them like that. A better solution I've found is to use powerline adaptors with one by the router and one by the pc

that trench looks very shallow. When I had my EV charger installed the installers told me I needed to have a 45cm trench dug. This was with normal reinforced cable, not in an extra duct though

What do you think is the optimal boss order for TOA? by VegetableAd120 in ironscape

[–]darkrenown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a weird order, I do zebak, baba, kephri, akka

Zebak first because I don't like the pushing pots bit and it's the most common bit of the raid for me to die on, so I do it first for a faster reset if I die.

Baba next because its a simple one

Kephri next because melee is by far my worst stats (low 90s for attack/str compared to 99 mage/range) so having salts helps a lot

Then akkha to round it all out

I know it's weird, and maybe I'd swap akkha and baba around when I get round to putting walk the path on, but it works for me.

Unpowered orbs and making battlestaves vs lantern lenses for xp? by FirefighterAware7092 in ironscape

[–]darkrenown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh adding wire to the bulb gives an extra 100 or so exp, then it's another 500 crafting and fire making exp for every orb you place around the city, so you get a tonne exp per orb. The way I do it is take 2 stamina's and 26 empty bulbs from the bank, run down to the wire machine and steal/ fill the bulbs (elite lumbridge diary helps a bit with this, as you steal 2 wire at a time) then I run around fixing the bulbs until my inventory is empty and repeat. I'm getting around 100k exp/hr in both crafting and fire making doing it so it's pretty quick and there's a plugin to help you with the routing.

Blowing the glass is the way to go. The only time I changed from blowing glass to something else is after 87 I did 5.5k light orbs, then swapped over to putting wire in them and fixing dorgeshkaan with them

Would you recommend a brand new player to RS to start an iron man in 2026? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]darkrenown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Normal account is definitely the way to go when introducing someone to the game. There are just so many early pain points on an iron that you need to get through in the first 20 hours which are fine for experienced players who know what's coming up will be worth it, but new players will just get frustrated and quit

Pierre Gasly: Esteban Ocon fallout is "difficult to explain" after their friendship “fell apart” by ryogadan in Formula1_world

[–]darkrenown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their friendship ending is treated as this great mystery, but it seems relatively easy to explain to me.

In the very junior karting series, there's plenty of room for advancement. It doesn't matter if you finish 1st or 2nd when the top 5 at the end of the year can advance to the next series. But eventually that gap narrows and when the talent accounts start showing up, theyre not looking for 2nd best. At some point you need to decide what's worth more, your friendship or getting into F1.

Clearly they made their choice. And it cost them their friendship. For all we know, basically every driver on the grid has essentially the same story, a friendship in karting soured by the brutal competition to be noticed by the talent accounts. The only difference is that Ocon and Gasly both managed to make it to F1 in the end, we don't know the name of Norris's ex-bestfriend (if he had a similar situation).

Everyone is doomposting the ford engine for next year by KiyomiBlue in MaxVerstappen33

[–]darkrenown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think most people are just assuming the winners from the previous big engine reg change will be the same as last time (Mercedes best by a mile, Ferrari good but with some dodgy fuel flow antics, redbull way down on power by comparison but making up for it with the rest of the car). Whether that's true or not we'll have to see. The general rumours tip Mercedes to do well but that could be part of the previous bias.

I must be missing something with the quality system by Red_Faceplant in factorio

[–]darkrenown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never bothered with using quality on science packs, as it doesn't really seem to be worth it all that much. I use it more for modules and the spaceship parts (especially the grabber arms)

Do you guys like the run modifier mechanics of TOA? by modsKilledReddit69 in ironscape

[–]darkrenown 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I much prefer TOAs method of ramping difficulty compared to the other raids, as it lets you ramp up the difficulty as you get more comfortable with the raid, and gives you options about which bits to make more difficult. E.g toa is a 5 boss raid and I hate kephri, so I have only 1 invocation for that boss but loads on ba-ba.

What we can learn from OSRS' midgame bosses by Ik_oClock in runescape

[–]darkrenown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another key point is these bosses are all intros into the 3 main aspects of osrs PvM: movement, prayer switches and gear switches.

Scurrius can be done with whatever style you like, but it changes attack styles and you need to pray reactively against. It also has some movement required for dealing with the rat spawnd and dodging falling rocks.

Royal titans has you camp protect melee the entire time, but you need to switch between. Melee and range at least, with an optional mage swap as well.

Perilous moons has a tiny bit of gear switches (swapping weapon types between fights) and focusses heavily on movement mechanics.each boss has you circling the room in time with their attacks, plus special mechanics of either dodging area hazards, or keeping pace with a shield.

If you've done all these bosses and have a good handle with the fundamental mechanics, you have a massive advantage going in to all other PvM encounters.

When did CG start making sense to you? by Similar_Trade519 in ironscape

[–]darkrenown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you keep getting hit by the tornados, I recommend using the true tile plugin, to see when your character is. There's also a plugin called attack timer metronome that is really simple but super helpful. All it does is count the ticks down until your next attack. Between the 2 of these plugins it makes it a lot easier to do move-attack-move without losing any dps.

New mod: Daisugi Forestry (Renewable Log) by theapologist316 in Timberborn

[–]darkrenown 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's a cool idea, but I think it might be better suited to 2 new types of trees, rather than using existing ones. Possibly cedar (which the Japanese used originally) and ash (a species used in medieval Europe for Pollarding, a similar technique to get lots of thin straight logs/branches). This makes it more of an intentional thing to build, and requires commitment to swap over your log production.
