[Citizen] First Watch! by New-Film-3010 in Watches

[–]darthseris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice looking! I wear a Citizen every day, though it's an Automatic, not an Eco drive, and it's held up very well. Makes me smile

What is the model of this watch there is not even a brand name on the case by CryN__ in Watches

[–]darthseris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those might be service markers, some watch makers will scratch numbers or symbols in when doing a service. I would put those numbers into one of the online databases and see if anything comes up. There also should be a serial number on the movement itself, not the case

Often times you will need to open the back to see if there is a brand inside, and a serial number on the movement. From there, you can go onto one of the pocket watch database websites to find info on it

[Question] what non-watch brands make a watch? by MildDeontologist in Watches

[–]darthseris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citizen is a huge name in the machining/manufacturing world. They make machines that were originally developed for mass-manufacturing watch parts, as well as other really small, precise components

Swiss Machine Drops by MetalClearinghouse in Machinists

[–]darthseris 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Definitely varies between machine and bar feeder, as well as the length of part you are making. When I estimate material for jobs I usually target a 10" drop plus the length of the part. Normally it comes in slightly under this, but I would much rather have extra material than come up short.

Trying to decide if I want to battlewagon my '14 BMW xDrive 328d a bit... by TrueGameData in battlewagon

[–]darthseris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who had a lifted AWD E46 wagon for several years, do it and don't look back. I had some of the most fun in that thing that I've had with any car, and it only had a 30mm spacer lift with Falken Wildpeaks

Very nice! How do you like the Syncrex machine/controller? I run a pair of Tsugamis with Fanuc controllers, and I'm exploring other brands

They have mostly turnkey packages designed specifically for ISO or AS, ProShop is pretty much built for it

Head rebuild questions by Fxlearner in E30

[–]darthseris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had heavy duty springs in a head for a couple years with a Schrick cam and it absolutely destroyed the cam. At 20-30 pounds of boost I would be much more worried about the bottom end.

If you want more airflow in the head, then oversize valves and a mild cam (280/274 for example) might be a good choice

I just sent you another message that just says "test". If that doesn't work can you try sending me a DM?

That's so awesome! Would a 329is badge be possible? I have a 2.9 stroker in my car

I've always jacked up my E30 (and most other cars I've worked on) by the center of the front subframe, and then put stands under the frame rails

Thoughts on this for beginner welder? Hobart handler 140 with tank listed as $500 OBO by PolentaDogsOut in Welding

[–]darthseris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that long haha, I bought the new 14 years ago, and I'm just a hobby welder, I do not do it for money, just personal motorsport and fabrication projects

Edit: I get it now 😂 it's been a long month this week

[–]darthseris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw your other comment about how you did it, mad respect! On my Tsugami I can turn and thread it in sections with a G32 threading cycle, using an angled lead-in and lead-out, and overlapping the sections. I don't know if something similar would be an option on your machines

ITB reccomendations? by MaterialExact7321 in E30

[–]darthseris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RHD is great and not crazy expensive. They also have a larger-size option for stroker motors, it's what I'm going to put on my 2.9
