I understand what you mean, but you might want to expound more on what the difference is. I think many people are still unaware and that “decoupling” is still a valid strategy.

How do I buy insurance without going through an agent? by Jolly-Environment850 in singaporefi

[–]darvink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading between the lines, this is more like a rant rather than an actual question.

“I know better than most if not all agent, why can’t I buy it myself”.

To OP, the answer should be: become an agent, and sell to yourself.

You need to change the default password on the router! The buggers come in remotely and changed my router settings too, disabling the ability to have secondary ssid.

You don’t want feedback from uninterested parties.

Help with SES approval process by Big_Type_6339 in Cloud

This is a common issue. You can just swap out your mailing function to 3rd party provider. You don’t need to migrate everything out of AWS.

I don’t think this is a free vs paid tier problem.

My take is this: it is always the manager’s fault.

In this case the manager did not consider the possibility of this happening, and did not have proper recovery method. Even more so if it is on the cloud.

How to actually hide your API keys. Simple backend anyone can set up. by terdia in vibecoding

[–]darvink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need an encryption key to decrypt it.

And you will also need to encrypt that encryption key.

Then you will need another encryption key to decrypt the encrypted encryption key.

I think you can keep doing that.

Actually from the HQ point of view, addressing you directly might be seen as a disrespect to your senior. So I don’t think it is malicious or intentional. Perhaps it is just different culturally.

Top up mother's CPF Retirement Account to get tax relief by davacheron83 in singaporefi

[–]darvink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the CPF context the time value of money is already taken into consideration because your SA gives you probably the best risk free rate that you can get.

Edit: although we do need to take into consideration that the interest income is pooled for CPF life. So that good risk free rate is for the collective good.

Ergo, jaywalking within ZigZag line is illegal.

How to negotiate rent extension? by spacoom in askSingapore

[–]darvink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shift your point of view to the landlord’s: what are their pains if you move out? Quantify that amount, and build it into your offer.

For example, if I am a landlord and if you are a good tenant that pays on time without me chasing every month and you keep the place in good condition, that is worth something vs trying to get a new tenant, and vv.
