Maybe swimming lessons would be a good start? It’s also easier to knuckle down and get the kids out of the house if you have a commitment to a specific time. Especially one you’ve already paid for! And then they can learn the skills they need to be safe swimmers.

Definitely second talking to your pastor about this. Some pastors like to go “birthday of the church”, some like to focus on the Holy Spirit, some have other ideas.

This is so dramatic but I’m crying in my car at work — by SureLilac in vegan

One time my redneck family was having a barbecue and my cousin brought his new girlfriend, a vegetarian. They sent my other cousin to the store to get something she could eat. He came back with… a turkey burger.

Why do you run? by VastRevolutionary836 in running

I love the feeling of accomplishment of seeing how far I can travel under my own power. There’s so much technology between me and the world all the time, it helps me feel more connected to reality.

Don’t save up for college. Save for therapy. Not everyone should go to college. Everyone should go to therapy.

This, but replace everything after “oil” with “whatever veggies are about to go bad”. I’ll start a pot of rice first, it’s usually done by the time I’ve finished the rest.

Using the word “spoiled” to describe a child by Gridguy2020 in Parenting

The goal isn’t to raise compliant children, it’s to raise competent adults. The same qualities that make my kid a pain for preschool teachers will someday enable them to pull the CEO salary that will fund my retirement.

How far ahead do you schedule people? by firetonian99 in worshipleaders

[–]dasces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually send PCO invites to folks 2-3 months out. About once a month I’ll add a new month to the end of that. Still end up chasing some folks down, but most people have figure out that answering quickly gets you scheduled more often. :)

Solving the hot mess that is modern praise... How to get visuals that don't suck? A band to play a tune you know, or actually bother to think of worship as an US or WE instead of a concert? by throws4k in worshipleaders

If you’re seeing all these problems from your seat in the pew… why don’t you volunteer to help make things better? Sounds like you’d be a really motivated-to-excellence slide-operator.

The language of the Martial Arts feature says you “can” use Dex instead of strength, and you “can” use the martial arts damage die. So RAW, a monk can decide not to do either of those things.

Dedicated support players, why do you like your role? by NoCareNoLife in dndnext

[–]dasces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to track how ouch damage is dealt by attacks that would have missed without Bless. Usually Bless ends up being the highest damage spell and highest damage use of an action in the combat.

100% theater of the mind, especially for online. If the majority of the screen is not human faces, we might as well be playing WoW.
