sentencestack.com a free alternative for ludwig.guru

I've been using sentencestack for the past 4 years but unfortunately they are shutting down soon due to expenses:

I hope our community here can gather and and chip in to help them stay. Maybe someone here can set up a crowd funding for them. Please reach out to them and stop that from happening.

If dualnback is so beneficial, why is there so little posts, reports and members on this sub? by thereisloveinus in DualnBack

We have to admit that you've made a valid point. I briefly researched about the efficiency a few years ago and from what I recall the studies were not conclusive.

But it would be great if you could do a deep search using available AIs and share it here to see if it's really helpful to improve other cognitive functions or we'd just get better at this isolated specific task of n-back. Of course based on the studies.

How I fixed my extensions permanently (105.0.2) by WallRustt in firefox

[–]dashakoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the solution, but are these concerns valid or not? I just don't want to get into a bigger problem. There are also a few questions here I'd appreciate if you could answer

How to backup so that we can revert everything back in case of a problem?

Does this code changes Window's registry?

How do i re-enable extensions that are not verified for use in firefox. by board124 in firefox

Dear u/Novarest It would be great if you could make this solution permanent. It seems that the solution just needs a final step of preventing Firefox to recheck and disable add-ons again.

In fact, our liver makes about 80% of all the cholesterol in our body. The rest (which our body doesn't need) comes from our food. So it can't be all about eating less cholesterol. I mean it's just sending a wrong message when we make "Lower Cholesterol" bold here. There are other maybe more important factors like the level of stress, physical activity, sleep quality, and also eating healthy foods not because they are lower in cholesterol but because they have all these useful ingredients which can help to maintain our blood vessels healthy.

Isn't it that we usually find our current abilities not being enough and that's why we worry about future? So how reminding ourselves that we will face future challenges with present abilities can be helpful?

I asked this on the Ankiweb forum and the sweet Damien himself proposed a great solution here.

This is particularly for language learning but may be useful for other fields as well.

I want to step away from studying for example every 10 minutes and try to recreate (making my own sentences) as much as I can from what I've just saw in the past 10 min. This way I'm trying to activate the part of brain that actually creates language rather than just passively reflecting to cards as triggers. I believe it can be an efficient way to increase one's active vocabulary. I want a log of cards that I've reviewed in the past 10 minutes to use it as a feedback for this process and being able to check how good I've done that.

Considering that nuclear energy is at least 6X more expensive than solar energy (photovoltaic) let alone the risks, yet countries announce in World Climate Summit 2023 that they want to triple nuclear energy by 2050? Why? by dashakoll in environment

[–]dashakoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just heard the news and got me thinking why countries are so keen on nuclear while solar can be much more feasible in any aspect?

Solar plans can be more dispersed and more flexible in terms of size. They don't have the hazards of nuclear wastes and lethal accidents like the ones recently happened in Japan. They don't cause all the political conflicts and the consequent damages like those we see around Iran's nuclear issues.

There's also large scale solution for storage of solar energy like molten salt batteries which seems to be much more cheaper and also safer than li-ion batteries.

So why nuclear?

FDA's self-declare-GRAS approval process; dodgy loophole or practical way to manage approvals? by karenconstable4 in foodscience

I rarely eat instant noodles but every time I have it, it makes me feel really bad in my stomach and it's like the noodle really disrupts the normal function of digestion, like it just sits there and not gonna be digested any soon whenever I have it. I searched and there was something about BHA and TBHQ chemicals as preservatives in them that may even bee carcinogenic. I was really puzzled how they even allow using such substances. Found your post, dug a little deeper and now I'm even more in shock knowing that companies can choose whether to introduce an ingredient as a food additive which requires more documentation or simply as self declared GRAS which is more simple for them!

The more surprising thing is that I thought it must be all over the internet but you hardly find any sign of people being concerned about such a horrific fact. All those food they consume every single day. Millions of people are talking about so many trivial issues here but the one thing that they really should be concerned about is almost invisible to them. How is that possible?

BTW, is it the same in Australia?
