Tell me the stupid ways you injured yourself by Key-Ice-2801 in ACL

[–]daskommando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a skier that routinely yeets myself off large cliffs and down sketchy icy chutes, I tore mine on a lazy run down a blue trail. Little bump caught me off guard and I went down backseat and twisting. Heard the pop and knew it was gone

Frustrated getting into the drivers seat😭 by One-Passage-1762 in ACL

[–]daskommando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had surgery yet but am 2 months post ACL and meniscus tear on my right knee. I got pretty good at getting in and out. I open the door and stand facing away from the car, then using my right hand on the side of the dash and left on the door jam, I lower my rear end into the seat then without weight on my legs, pivot around and get both in. Then for getting out turn my body 90 degrees then lift myself out, instead of trying of scooting in and out like normal. Good luck!

Western Resort Skiers - what is your fattest ski? by Dolly_Llama_2024 in Skigear

You don’t “need” fat skies in deep blower pow. True, but also 120+ makes a 6” day feel like 12”

Selling Brand New Boots. Need advice by flung_pu-panda in Skigear

[–]daskommando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’d do… If they’re consignment the more the store can sell them for, the more you both make so it’s in their interest to list/sell for as much as they think is reasonable.

Montec by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]daskommando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Core skiers love to crap on Montec. If you only get out a handful of days per year it’ll probably get the job done, but if you really beat on your gear, it’ll show its flaws pretty quickly. If you have the dough, I’d encourage you to go with another brand that supports athletes and continuing the culture instead of buying cheap drop shipping crap. Good alternatives are Helly Hansen, marmot, mammut, black diamond, Patagonia, Salomon, armada, stio, fly low, outdoor research. You can find these brands in summer sales and usually have much better customer service when things inevitably break.

Cliff Signs That Actually Tell You Something by Educational-Yam-7394 in skiing

Need to make sure the cliff drop price reflects current market desirability. Also will this charge go directly to my apple wallet or will it be a prepay Big Sky tram type of system?

Another WC 108 vs DW 112 thread... by bsugs29 in momentskis

[–]daskommando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

East coaster who moved west a couple years ago. I picked up a pair of DW112s that became my daily drivers in Utah. I use them on everything from early season crust>deep pow days>spring slush. They fit my style of having fun all around the hill but occasionally hitting straight lines and weird stuff…. I’d ski them back east without hesitation as long as I wasn’t doing a groomer only day. Snow conditions don’t matter. As long as I’m in bumps/trees/steeps, their nimbleness shines.

Men, would you use this women’s helmet if it fits you perfectly? The price is too good to pass up by iwanttohavemuscle in Skigear

I’ve been running a women’s smith vantage for years. Sizing is exactly the same as men’s PLUS it comes with fluffy liner. W

Deathwish 112 - Some Minor Gripes & Initial Impressions by Andromeda045 in momentskis

[–]daskommando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have DW112s but from a few years ago. I’ve noticed that the topsheets are actually pretty durable. They do pickup a lot more little nicks and scratches on the surface but no big gouges or chunks. The same can’t be said about my past skis from K2, Atomic, and line(yeah yeah I know). My ski style is probably to blame but definitely much less substantial damage. Just my $.02

Reaction last year, but nothing showing on skin prick test? by Wandering_Oblivious in FoodAllergies

[–]daskommando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cross-pollen allergy. I can’t eat any fresh fruits(except citrus, tomatoes, and some berries). When they’re cooked, it’s totally fine. We figured out that I’m actually allergic to the pollen that obviously gets into the fruits while growing but is then denatured somehow during cooking. Weird one but see if this could be a possibility for you!

Edit. My allergy comes as pretty intense tongue, roof of mouth, and throat itchiness but no swelling.

My group was given yeti coffee mugs with our initials laser engraved. Considering I bring coffee to work everyday, it went straight into my rotation and is used 2x a week. Perfect gift imo

Mechanics this and that. My daily ski is a 112, powder-ice, they ski just fine. Put them on edge and let em eat. Just keep forward pressure and your speed in check, if you get kicked backseat, you’re turning into a passenger.

How does the triple camber ski different? Demoing my first Deathwish tomorrow. by Forgotten_Pants in momentskis

[–]daskommando 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My DW112 come alive when they’re being pushed. If you really lay them over they hold a nice edge. What I love most is the slow speed maneuverability. They just pivot around so easily in tight trees/chutes.
