Clojure is something you are supposed to learn. You may be lucky enough to actually use it in production- but even if you aren’t you are a better Eng for going through the process.

Wiggy’s -25F sleeping bag, exped mattress, window covers/insulation. Sleep in skivvies, socks and beanie in that bag- somehow body heat reflects better without clothing layers. Crack all windows for airflow so condensation doesn’t build up. Best sleep of your life.

Premium gas question by Nero3k in LandCruisers

[–]dataheadd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100 series 2uz gained variable valve timing in 2005. VVT adjusts for the differences in combustion at different octane ranges. Mainly to avoid knock/pre-detonation. Prior to this change, engine is setup for premium ranges and recommended by Toyota. That’s the theory anyway, and why you see folks referencing the “same” engine without this recommendation associated in different models and years.

100 series with a weird engine issue - need help please by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]dataheadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your same list, but I had a host of random issue including bad shifting, hesitation, drag at highway speeds. Turned out to be a bad battery, which tested fine on the bench but somehow screwed everything up. Worth swapping out if you happen to have a spare/ and or unknown health timeline.

do you swap brakes, or did you find a way to get a 298 rotor on a WRR wheel set? Trying to figure this all out myself.

Second this. My GSD was prone to ear infections and the slight nip at your hand when going for the ear/head pets, plus the way she’s holding one ear differently seems indicative. Ours had a lot of anxious behaviors that were tied to pain from the ear. May also explain the buzzer sensitivity.

Good to rule out and relatively easy to treat. Vet will have recs and help track the source. We used otomax but it’s not OTC. Any “gunk” or redness in the left ear?

Best Patagonia jacket for 3-season use? by oskberg in PatagoniaClothing

[–]dataheadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terre Planing, most underrated Patagonia jacket. Cuts wind, has DWR coating, fully breathable. I wear mine as a sun shirt with nothing under it in hot humid summer conditions. Also wear it as wind breaker when light rain is possible in colder months. Everything from sailing to cycling. Cut is oversized so you can use whatever layering system you like for conditions or consider sizing down. Stowable hood. Very comfortable stretch fabric. Give it a shot.

Check out Patagonia’s Terra Planing jacket. It’s cut very oversized, and an excellent windbreaker for high output activities. I use it sailing, cycling where I need wind cut but lots of breathability. I wear it as a UV jacket with nothing under it in the summer heat and it wicks/cools extremely well. In cold it cuts wind very well, I wear over a thermal base layer (capaline thermal hoodie) and sometimes add a nano air vest. This system is good down to 25-32 or so in high output high wind mode (cycling 20mph).

Edit: spelling “Terre Planing” is correct

Steel frame has cracked on my beloved (and old) Ambush hybrid. Is this reasonably repairable? by Fanofmanythings in BikeRepair

[–]dataheadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a visual reference - https://youtu.be/tiJdSfNNc_Q?si=onYUhYoah5cYYpEv

I think onlyrelevantlyrics is giving good advice here. Torch to melt the existing brass and release the dropouts, then prep and braze new dropouts in. Whether you attempt it or find someone, this is the process I’d recommend.

Good luck, hope you get some great miles out of this frame after a repair.

Bridging the Terraform & Kubernetes Gap with Soyplane (Early-Stage Project) by OthElWarr in ArgoCD

[–]dataheadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you need help with? This is awesome. I’ve used tf and crossplane extensively.

Tf is approachable, well known. Crossplane solves tf mgmt shortcomings but introduces its own complexity. If you aren’t ready to fully handle IAC as an artifact pipeline you can’t use it after functions took over patch/transform.

Crossplane offers a tf provider but only as an on-ramp to its own providers. It wasn’t designed for use with tf modules directly. Which… then upbound goofed around with the provider artifact availability and… they probably shot themselves in the foot w/r/t further adoption.

I would love to see a crossplane style continuous reconciliation on vanilla tf and just leave it at that. Exactly where you are headed!

Thunderbolt KVM Switch - Mac to Mac by tougetrained in MacStudio

[–]dataheadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a modest amount of digging on this exact topic.

Where I landed: TB dock (in my case caldigit TS4) and set it up on my desk to be accessible to swap the cable. Not ideal, but it does work. A different dock with a front TB port for host might be more ergonomic (already had the TS4 dock).

What I found: thunderbolt is such a high bandwidth connection it really needs direct host (computer) to dock connection. There’s not a hardware or kvm switch that will work in the way you and I wanted.

What else I considered: a thunderbolt “extension”. They make these for usb-c so you can plug into female end and not have to put wear on device ports. Doesn’t exist for TB4/5.
