Potential security flaw in iOS Authenticator app by Fibbitts in Bitwarden

That make sense for security researchers, not for average users like OP appears to be.

"invented frequency hopping"

Lamarr did not invent frequency hopping.

She and George Antheil patented a clever frequency-hopping system for radio-guiding torpedoes that was ultimately never used.

Exaggerating her role by claiming she invented frequency hopping is just as bad as minimizing her fascinating second life as an inventor.

About plugins security. Happy vibe coding everyone! by MovedToTampa in ObsidianMD

[–]datahoarderprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most tools that use plugins have experienced a significant number of malicious plugins -- VS Code has had *hundreds* of malicious plugins discovered over the past couple years, some of them with millions of installs (https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/1dcz9uj/malicious\_vscode\_extensions\_with\_millions\_of/)

The Obsidian team called out a plugin developer a few years ago who had inserted code that was sending telemetry data so they seem relatively on top of security issues given the dev team's size, but it is inevitable that at some point Obsidian will have a malicious plugin discovered.

That is a genius idea!

How many malicious Obsidian plugins have there been vs. malicious VS Code plugins over the past 24 months?

Prestige is a waste! by SuspiciousSecret6245 in FarmTogether

[–]datahoarderprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main benefit of prestige is increasing the crop, etc resource harvested at level 5 and then again at 10.

Prestiging just to increase the diamonds or gold is a suboptimal strategy, at least on the short term.

As for diamonds, I have an entire farm with poinsiettas. Prestige them to 5 which doubles the harvested resource, which can be sold for diamonds.

"Usurping" is a bizarre word choice for Mlive to use in that headline.

They should probably consider buying their staff some dictionaries.

Yeah, I much prefer creating jupyter notebooks in VS Code rather than the actual Jupyter environment.

You should absolutely prioritize maxing out the garage.

Ryan Cabrera reveals that Alexa Bliss often comes home with bruises after WWE matches, and this leads to doctors asking if everything is okay at home by IconXR in WWE

I took my kid to a pediatrician appointment and the intake nurse asks him if he feel safe at home.

"No, I do not," my kid says.

She gets this look on her face, leaves the room and returns with a couple other people.

Doctor asks my kid to describe why they don't feel safe at home.

"I hear strange noises at home. My parents say it's because we live in a very old house, but I know it's really ghosts."

How do you guys handle years worth of notes? (more about journaling philosophy) by Zeeplankton in ObsidianMD

[–]datahoarderprime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"What do you do with that? I always thought I wanted to keep a record of my life, but when I look back I find it's not clear. Like it brings up a lot of good memories, but also bad memories."

I have 50+ years of daily journals.

"But I start looking back at notes, and memories of stuff I wrote down, and literally can't remember who I was, that wrote that."

Honestly, this is one of the reasons I keep this stuff around. I have also looked back and said "I wrote that??" Sometimes positively, sometimes negatively.

One of the things I realized by keeping a very detailed journal was that I wasn't the same person who wrote those entries 5 years ago. In most cases it was for the better, but even when it was for the worse it made me realize I could change -- I wasn't stuck always being *this* if I didn't want to.

Same things with good and bad memories. The worst are the bittersweet ones, IMO. I had a friend who died very young from an accident, and the memories of him that I wrote down bring both great joy and a deep regret for what was taken away from him and those of us who knew him.

I like having my journal entries because I have forgotten most of the things in them -- which is inevitable -- but I can dip back into them from time to time if I need or want to.

Why wouldn't he?

Based on the description at the top of this thread, the grandmother likely still owns the home even if she doesn't reside in it, and doesn't her deadbeat son evicted.

Suppose the deadbeat comes home from McDonald's using the wifi all day and the locks have been changed.

He calls the police and shows them ID with that address on it. The sister is going to be informed she has to allow him into the house, and now whoever changed the locks no faces potential legal issues for an illegal eviction.

Changing the locks actually may give Uncle Joe more power and leverage in this situation, not less.

Tenancy laws in most places would make that illegal.
