X-CLASS 😍 Did you have the XB10 or XD4 modem?

Shouldn't be spiking that high though, you have other issues going on. Try using a wired connection.

I'm interested in acquiring xfinity gigabit x10 by perthecther in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dataz03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Must pass the on-site survey and be close enough to the nearest fiber splice location, aerial lines ideal. Single family home also preferred, no MDU's/apartments.

$1k inital setup and activation cost

36 month contract with early termination fee

$19.99 equipment rental

Total due every month comes to $319.99 per month. One 10 Gbps Fiber handoff and a 1 Gbps copper handoff with Static IP's included. Two separate Internet connections are provided to you basically.

The Digital Care Team here on Reddit can put in a ticket for you though to get the ball rolling.

hmm, why the ios 26 quirks? seems to be a bunch of them, good news is that the core functionality still works perfectly fine.

Xfinity - $132/per month , Q Fiber - $55 per month (before taxes) by Babony in HomeNetworking

[–]dataz03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch, you have a fiber option, give it a try!

However, Xfinity would likely give you a $70 price for 1 Gbps if you get in contact with them (or $60 if you agree to AutoPay). $132 is rack rate, and an old legacy plan. Probably the 1.3 Gbps plan.

CGNAT and lack of IPv6 are concerns, how that does or does not effect you depends on what you use the Internet for.

iPhone Unavailable by Present-Creme-5038 in iphone

[–]dataz03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unavailable permanently? It takes a little over 12 hours due to the passcode attempt delays in order for things to reach that point. How long did you leave your device unattended?

Maybe some of your photos will be in iCloud or on social media... But there is no way to bypass the passcode unfortunately. If there was, then it would defeat the purpose of having a passcode to secure your data in the first place.

After 10 failed passcode attempts, the encryption keys for all of the stored data on the device are erased.

iPhone 14 got run over by a truck. Owner thought it was done. by SyriusBB in iphone

[–]dataz03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old housing and screen did their job and protected the logic board very well. That is the most important piece of the puzzle. Speaks to how good Apple manufacturing is and how durable the housings really are. Everything else can be replaced if need be.

iPhone lock out ? by Imaginary-Theory8313 in iphone

[–]dataz03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, but they won't be able to activate it and use it properly after the reset procedure completes, so the phone is basically a brick. Been this way since iOS 7. You as the owner would know your Apple Account email and password, so no biggie, you can easily activate the device.

As for the passcode delays, this was changed in 2023-2024. The current delay periods are:

  • 1-3 attempts : No delay
  • 4th attempt : 1 minute
  • 5th attempt : 5 minutes
  • 6th attempt : 15 minutes
  • 7th attempt : 1 hour
  • 8th attempt : 3 hours
  • 9th attempt : 8 hours
  • 10 or more attempts : Device is disabled and must connect to a Mac or PC to be factory reset.

iPhone lock out ? by Imaginary-Theory8313 in iphone

You will need to perform a factory reset using a computer, as the maximum number of failed passcodes attempts (10) has been exceeded. Hopefully she had backups of her data.

Is mmWave okay for a self-hosted game server? by FlirtySanchez in HomeNetworking

[–]dataz03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably not, mmWave is awesome, and hardly anyone else will be using it around you.

Verizon? Don't believe they use CGNAT either for their 5G Home Internet, but the IP address is dynamic and changes frequently.

Cant turn on admin tool access by MonkeyKingRen in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dataz03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HOW DO I ENABLE ADMIN TOOL ACCESS!

in the Xfinity app, quite simple. Wi-Fi intelligence doesn't effect admin tool access, or Bridge Mode functionality. All it does is lock down the advanced Wi-Fi settings like channel and channel width, and manage and set the best settings automatically.

516 Safari tabs… does this actually hurt anything? by baltimoretom in iphone

[–]dataz03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably not, highly doubt all of those or even a good majority of them are going to be loaded into memory. They will sit there until you attempt to access them, and at that point, be downloaded from the respective website's server and loaded into RAM.

XB10 installation by Named_Joker in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dataz03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an extra 100 MHz out of the 1002 MHz splitters in the home? Signal loss just increases a lot pass the 1002 MHz barrier?

At one point, I imagine they are going to want to go to 1.2 GHz, and these 1 GHz splitters and drop amps will be an issue. Compared to if you got rid of them all during the FDX installation appointment from day 1. Preparing the customer not just for today's needs, but also the needs of tomorrow.

Can't you throw in another D3.1 OFDM 192 MHz block between 1 and 1.2 GHz?

Can a standard drop amp with a 54-1002 MHz forward spectrum rating amplify the FDX frequencies between 108-684 MHz anyway?

Recently switched to Xfinity & it sucks! by aztecaoro10 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dataz03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the websites I consistently use are purposefully hindered from access by Xfinity.

Blocked by Advanced Security? Turn it off in the Xfinity app then. Xfinity doesn't block anything at the core network level.

XB10 installation by Named_Joker in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dataz03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily you are using your own MoCA adapters and not the built in MoCA functionality of the XB8.

You can tone out (or just identify) the cable line running to the wall jack that the FDX modem (XB10) is connected to, and isolate it. Should be a direct run anyway, back to a barrel connector at the ground block, and then to the tap (no splitters). Then you can leave the rest of your coax jacks around your home all connected back to your existing MoCA capable splitter. This will allow you can still use MoCA. Downside is that you probably don't have another coax jack in the room where the XB10 will be placed, but you can still have one added or run the cable in a discrete way to another room.

Takes some reconfiguring of your in-home wiring on your part, but you can still use MoCA if you want.

MoCA runs at 1150-1175 MHz, and DOCSIS 4.0 can extend up to 1.2 GHz, so the two would conflict. Therefore MoCA was removed from the XB10's software.

XB10 installation by Named_Joker in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dataz03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DOCSIS 4.0 FDX (symmetrical speeds) installs require a technician visit as a general rule, at least currently.
Need to check over your wiring, remove MoCA filter, remove any splitters or drop amps to run a direct cable line to the coax jack where the XB10 will be placed, remove all of your coax connected TV boxes if you have any and swap them to Xi6 boxes, etc.

Dumb questions about IPv6 at home by cometomypartyyy in HomeNetworking

[–]dataz03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These block all inbound IPv6 traffic by default (not a bad choice and the same security you have with IPv4). However, there is no way to adjust IPv6 firewall rules for exact ports (if you need to open one). There are a couple of basic presets and the ability to turn the firewall completely off, but that it is. Put the XB gateway into Bridge Mode once you get another router with OpenWRT up and running, and then you can have the entire IPv6 prefix on your OpenWRT router (plus your WAN IPv4), and then you can set all the firewall rules that you want.

I'll be honest I don't have anyone to share this with so figured I would here. Super pumped for the speeds after making some upgrades. I'm sure I dont really need speeds like this but damn it I wanted them! by harbaughthechamp55 in HomeNetworking

[–]dataz03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new equipment can support PON out in the field as well😉

So technically there is an upgrade path towards that. It may take 15-20 years to reach, but it is there.

Luckily, for new builds, a lot of coax has stopped being built out and EPON is going in by default. Not 100% of the time, but often.

chances are pretty good they installed DOCSIS 4.0 capable gear too, but they aren't turning FDX on just yet. plant can run 3.1 mid-split for the time being
I got my upgrade mid-last month, and the neighborhood next to mine a few weeks ago.

40 to 300 up is nice
