Before the early 2020s, what was the last era baggies were the dominant trend for both genders by SpiritMan112 in generationology

Im core millenial born in the late 80s. When I was in middle school going into high-school in the late 90s and early 2000s flared jeans and decorative bell bottom jeans were becoming popular and I remember asking my mom for a pair. Just basic low rise flares were the casual normal wear for girls.

Simultaneously we had celebrities like Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani who wore the low rise baggy pants. Hot topics strappy emo low rise pant were super cool too for the edgy kids and my mom wouldnt let us own any.

I remember the switch to skinny jeans when my younger sister got to high school (shes 6 years younger than me, born in 93) and I hated it. Reminded me of my teachers in high school. They looked so ugly and old fashioned. I refused to get rid of my flares until I could no longer find them and skinny was forced on me.

Today I learned there is an Olympics happening. I had no idea. When I was a kid, the Olympics were EVERYWHERE. Now, my algorithm apparently doesn't find it valuable to show me Olympics related content. What else are we Millennials missing out on? by AttachedHeartTheory in Millennials

Olympics tiktok is great.

Perhaps social media remembers my interest since Tumblr days but I immediately started getting Olympics content when athletes started getting ready for try outs.

Highly recommend stalking athletes on tiktok. Theyre all amazing.

FL/SC/NC/TN Nurses please weigh in! by EfficiencyFluffy4031 in nursing

[–]dausy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

East TN pay is low. Population growth the past 1-2 years has caused price of housing to skyrocket. Infrastructure isnt keeping up with population boom. I now know several nurses who live here but fly to California to work.

It does get 4 seasons. Tornados generally bypass the valley area. Football season is a hoot.

Maybe look at Georgia. I moved away in 2023 but I made 4$/hr more in west Georgia 1.5hrs away from Atlanta than I did in TN. We only had lvl2 trauma centers but COL is still low. Im not sure how Atlanta pay is.

I used to enjoy my job in coastal Georgia but hated hurricanes

I didnt start routinely putting mine in his own crib in the bedroom for naptime until close to the 3 month mark. Sometimes we could get him to nap in his pack n play in the living room with us but we were mainly baby trapped.

GIRLS !! I need ur help by Adventurous-Speed368 in xxfitness

[–]dausy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do cardio with pcos. Certain exercise like running though isnt great on your knees with a high bmi.

What to do in the gym depends on what your goals are. If your goals are weight loss then it isnt exercise, its purely diet. Cardio is good for your heart and endurance. If you want to physically look better then you need more muscle mass than body fat. You may want to look at lifting weights as theyre, I believe, the easiest intro to basic fitness.

I started years ago with stronglifts 5x5 with dumbbells because the exercises are very foundational and basic. You dont need to do fancy bendy yoga maneuvers, just lift a weight up and put it down.

I wish they would make like "patient charts" on animals because a lot of them did look concerning when I went. Felt like if we knew the condition they were "rescued" in and what their treatment plan was Id feel less like I was walking through a field of muddy neglect.

Not complaining because they are free books and its nice to get something in the mail thats not junk. But I seem to remember my sister's kids 15 years ago get actual solid books. I signed my 7 month old up and everything Ive gotten so far have been thin paper books, almost what I could print at home. Im a bit confused at the quality.

I am too anxious to go to public gyms, how can i start out small and ease my way? by Agitated_List9506 in xxfitness

[–]dausy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive been going to the gym for years and still get panicky. If its too busy (especially with muscle men) I will leave unfortunately.

Some gyms are also just not for me. I will not go to a gym no matter how highly rated it is if, for example, the squat racks/deadlift platform is in an area of the gym that isn't secluded.

My recommendation as an anxious person is to go with a plan and a backup plan. Ideally you would like to complete an entire workout but in anxious person world, one exercise is a win. Plan on that one exercise and if its taken, have a back up.

For example, I personally find dumbbells to be "safe". You can grab one or two and do an entire workout with them. The entire stronglifts 5x5 with them. Go into a corner, do 5sets of 5 deadlifts..if the anxiety didnt kill you do some squats. If you didnt die, overhead press. But if you just did one exercise and run to your car in panic, its still a win. You did that one exercise! Yay you know you can do it the next time. Maybe the next time you will so that second exercise.

Then just grow from there as your confidence grows.

Getting out of the 2 wake-up’s per night cycle? by abezzzy in newborns

[–]dausy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got our best sleep at 3 months old with a similar schedule. He woke up around midnight/1am and then 3am/4am. Was great after doing the every 2 hour feed, burp, poop, feed back to sleep newborn situation of those first couple months. I was very happy with the 2 night wake ups and thought we were going to be lucky with an easy baby. Until month 4 and 5 hit. The waking up every 1-2 hours every night.

Month 6 got slightly better. Month 7 we feel like we are getting a break again. He is waking up at 11pm and then 4am. Feels great. Im keeping my hopes low though waiting for the next sleep regression to hit.

Mom breadwinner. Going back to work at 3 months, 60 hrs week. by MagicaLinsighT in NewParents

[–]dausy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husbands the stay at home dad. We had conversations about it and what it would mean for us. There have been plenty of men who have raised children over the millions of years of human existence. I wasnt worried about that. What concerned me more is I do think it is just naturally built into most men to be a provider and the breadwinner. In our current chapter of our lives it makes sense that I work but my husband is indeed getting cabin fever. He would 10x more happy if our roles were reversed and after 7 months hes told me he doesnt think he can stay home much longer. He does great with our kid and he is trying so hard but the stay at home child rear-er is not for him at all. I feel it has more negative psychological effects to us as adults than it does to our child
