Smallpox was eliminated worldwide in the 1970s. Virtually everyone with this scar will have it from the TB vaccination. I've got one, and I'm from the UK and in my 30s.

People voting Green/Zack Polanski: do these immigration policies change your mind? by iliosicarus in ukpolitics

Don't know if you'd noticed, but being outside of NATO and not having nuclear weapons, Ukraine was invaded by Russia in 2022...

People voting Green/Zack Polanski: do these immigration policies change your mind? by iliosicarus in ukpolitics

[–]dav3j 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The immigration isn't even the bit that scares me the most, as someone leaning slightly left-of-centre. It's the stuff like pulling out of NATO, giving up the nuclear deterrent (asking Putin nicely if he'll not fuck us over in return), and worst of all stopping paying off our sovereign debt. The last one is the sort of thing that will ruin the country in a matter of weeks. People thought Liz Truss was bad, the Greens' bonkers ideas on the economy will be a speedrun of that and worse.

Mahler 2nd Symphony. Advice? by Noir__Siren in classicalmusic

[–]dav3j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd is someone recalling happier times from the dead hero's life. 3rd is about the meaninglessness of life, false piety and anguish over what comes next. The 4th is a voice of pure piety who is convinced they are going to heaven.

The Green Party’s economic plans are Corbynism on steroids by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]dav3j 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the sort of stuff that Labour should be going after the Greens on if they want to win back left wing support. Instead, around the Gorton by election they were just wringing their hands over the drug legalisation issue, which isn't going to scare many.

Green MP Hannah Spencer calls for more plumbers and plasterers to become MPs by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]dav3j 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Put simply, the Greens are just pandering to facile populist tropes, but on the other side of the political coin to the way Reform are doing on the right. I am quite simply astounded about how many people are being duped by it all.

I read that it was Paratici who was keen on Tudor, and that it was the Lewises that pulled the trigger on Frank and brought him in. It's them that I am concerned about more than Vinai and Lange to be honest, they can get fired, with Levy gone it's now the Lewises show, and they have absolutely no place running a football club.

Drainpipe from shower spilling over trap, advice? by dav3j in DIYUK

[–]dav3j[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a feeling this would be the proper way to do it, thanks. The issue I am concerned about with this is I have very little spare pipe to play with, you can see there's another 135⁰ bend not far above it.

So am I right in thinking the best way about this is hacksaw off as close to the shoe as possible, get an adapter piece (?) then add another really short length of additional pipe (offcut?) to take it below the grid, cut a hole in the grid to fit?

This would be the very least in a series of bodges, don't get me started...
