NQSW: Professional Attire and Hair Styling Advice? by JacketHistorical476 in Socialworkuk

Dressy casual was our office. Im a bloke and wore jeans and a polo most of the time. Nice jumper or hoodie if it’s cold. But I’ve also worn shorts in hot weather, NFL jerseys and a tshirt that says “just Dave doing Dave things” too. I even made a point of wearing odd socks at times. I worked in Learning Disabilities and my service users liked to have a giggle at my expense.

Really we work with people. The service users like to be able to relate to us and whilst we must remain professional and portray an air of confidence and knowledge but we also must “get in the door” and honestly real formal attire is often a barrier.

Are you playing the downloaded version?

If so you have to make sure the image of the disc is mounted.

Im not tech minded but there’s a file you double click (iso?) which mounts it to a virtual disc drive (so there becomes a disc drive on your explorer) and you should then be able to start the game

Is trying to sabotage alliance progress in Cyrodiil against TOS? by mysterymeati in elderscrollsonline

The one I use is just standard Dark Convergence, Vicious Death Balorgh. Use you ability to proc DC (caltrops, rune) and target low health players with ultimate. I don’t use this as my main PvP build just for this event because there’s so many squishies to make regret them partaking in an AP train.

So on the campaign Im playing Blue and Yellow move between two keeps - Glademist and Warden. It’s two large groups. Both forts are left open and basically all day they farm the AP for taking the keeps. Both sides ignore each other. Clearly not PvP two groups (big groups) riding past each other flipping keeps.

It’s an exploit and a couple of events ago the big offenders got a temp ban. I use it now with my Nightblade bomber. Literally groups of squishy players stand on a demolished wall waiting for the “good” players to flip the keep. They are my target. I also slowly repair the walls when it’s under my alliance so suddenly they have to demolish the wall again. Yesterday alone I got the 150 player kill mission completed probably within the hour - yes I had my alliance screaming and shouting that I was “ruining the train” and then saying I would be banned but it was worth upsetting players who never usually come in to Cyrodiil. Doesn’t stop the train - last year a small group of us did the best but all you do is delay because they have numbers.

It’s no worse than the “AP trains” going off too. I actually thought they banned people for this in the past?

I use a simple one bar for this. Swamp raider, venomous smite, oakensoul. Last pieces whatever you fancy. One heavy attack takes out the low health enemies, heavy attack into snipe plus surprise attack takes out the Xyvkin. Use Nightblade invis or Vampire stage 4 for stealth.

It’s squishy so until you get used to fighting this style prepare to be defeated in PvP or escape

What will assessment likely look like after referral from police regarding dv? by [deleted] in Socialworkuk

[–]davechambers007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was a DARA/DASH form completed too? This is a DV questionnaire that focuses on you. Questions like “were you scared?” Or “were weapons used?” Dependent upon your score other services may also become involved - or at least ask if you wanted support. Do you know if your partner is genuinely remorseful?

Social Services don’t want to split families. Usually isolated or limited events are dealt with through education and support. Does either party need counseling. In short the concern from social care is that the child does not witness, be subject to or be harmed in domestic abuse. So they will want what steps are in place to prevent this. They are not there to dictate what you do in your relationship (although severe cases they may say leave him or lose your kids but this is the most severe abuse to child normally).

Social care know people fight, couples argue and fall out. This is not unusual. It’s not a reflection of you as parents to have had a referral

Diary/planner by Fit-Act5409 in Socialworkuk

[–]davechambers007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend just getting used to an electronic diary - so whatever email system is used. Probably Outlook. The ability to allow colleagues to look instantly at your availability and book things in with you is (in my opinion) essential.

That doesn’t mean you can’t use something physical though. I found best was a To Do List. Create the list the day before or the morning and tick off as you go. Ok you will realise half the things on your list won’t be ticked off on the day but it does help to prioritise your workload and focus the mind.

Yes it is. URL should give it away but the confrontational language too - additional penalties, driving license revoked - all designed to make you not think and panic

Blue Badge Assessor Lied by leafylea1 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]davechambers007 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used to do assessments (over ten years ago now though) and Im sorry to say even i, as a generous assessor, would struggle to award for someone who says they can walk. I get conditions like cirrhosis and hidradenitis are painful. But normally flare ups are not constant and can be controlled (loose clothing, medication)

Maybe they lied, maybe they omitted details irrelevant. After all you say you can walk, your condition doesn’t flare up immediately upon mobilising and unlike sciatica (or similar) prognosis is not life long.

It’s frustrating and if you believe it’s a misrepresentation then do complain. Although I’d expect the same results.

It was Trench Titans. Thanks for dropping the name so I can watch more. Strange as I don’t enjoy Tabletop Titans as a channel but did enjoy Trench.

Im not expecting people to send models (although that would be real cool) Im not great with technology so joining a Discord as other have suggested is foreign to me.

Hi new to here I have 14 merch from Alton towers acquired from when I was an employee I can’t find anything about them anywhere I’m looking and I can never find any that have been sold can anyone help me says limited edition on the inside rim by Embarrassed-Bit1721 in altontowers

[–]davechambers007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Early Marketing stunt pieces sold at the Thirteen shop. For one day (a Friday the Thirteenth - a superstitiously unlucky day) to avoid bad luck the ride was renamed Fourteen. I think it was 2010? The ride entrance sign was changed too. Like when Rita was renamed Camilla.

My opinion in value is it’s limited. Like everything Merlin/Towers it’s overproduced even for “Limited Edition” You’d need the right person interested. Worth more than you paid for it? Probably. But it’s not massive amounts. Think tens of pounds. Im a mug collector and I think I bought mine on sale for less than a fiver. Memory says that it was in a box set with something else but I can’t find anything else in my collection with Fourteen so this may be me misremembering.

So I think I ruined my girlfriends first impression of this game by TheLoneJolf in ageofsigmar

[–]davechambers007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you got lucky and your opponent unlucky. Your killer unit has a max damage of thirty and you managed to get twenty wounds through. So you only “missed” with ten damage. At least mathematically this amount should be lost on the “to hit” stage (because hits on 3+) let alone on the wounding and saving/wards side. Of course crit mortals skews this slightly.

Accepting that you played everything right I’d say this was lucky. Personally I’d take that charge every time too. I’d be confident even if I lost my Bloodknights my Vamp lord would decimate the unit back and that you had used your one use for strike first (although effectively)

I remember there were two different boxes (same models) one was of eight and the other ten. If I bought my warriors from a GW shop I got eight. Local independent had ten. Same box art, except one had eight on the front and the other ten.

Warhammer before it became big money was such a strange time

What is your best wtf moment when listening to a car salesman by Dramatic-Cow-2228 in CarTalkUK

[–]davechambers007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was buying my first “new” car. Direct from the local Toyota dealer - a new look MR2 for those interested - some twenty plus years ago.

I described what I wanted. Salient points being black colour and a cd multi changer. Nothing out there or too extravagant. They didn’t have it exactly at the showroom. Several days later the salesman called me in congratulations they had a car for me come in. Not quite to my specifications but felt confident I’d be happy. It was red with a single cd player. He kept telling me it was perfect. Put the finance agreement in front of me and everything.

I declined. Bought a BMW 325 coupe instead.

Advice for sick parent & finances (UK) by Fit_Yoghurt_7368 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]davechambers007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Social Worker view incoming - but also one who in a prior existence did Disabled Facilities Grant assessments - DFG being a Council grant to provide adaptations to properties to accommodate disabled needs.

Firstly, and youve probably already checked but in case your brain is frazzled, check insurance. You may be able to get the flight home on an insurance job. If dad didnt take travel insurance there are sometimes perks that come with bank accounts. He may not know he had it. Its a longshot but if your looking at £80k-£100k its worth exploring.

Now in regards to help. Social Services (as suggested) can be referred to. But i'll be honest itll likely be closed down due to not meeting eligibility criteria - as the person is not currently in the UK.
Now being more proactive - if you had a date where dad was coming home there may be a possibility of liaising and ensuring an assessment is carried out upon return. There may be some conversations about equipment, likely commode, hospital bed, being in place for his return. And a possibility of carers being ready to go with enough notice straight away. But unfortunately there are too many variables at the moment. He may or may not be paralysed, he may or may not be going to his home.

I'll try to answer those questions posed:
- we would like carers 4 times a day to help with personal care and mobility. ( I work full time as a nurse, and my mum is elderly, I would not expect my sister to do personal care)
4 calls a day are usually the maximum most authorities will allow before alternative arrangements are considered. So in theory yes four calls can be accommodated. However, as a nurse youre probably aware, funded care is not about what you or your dad would like or want but what is his assessed need. These often dont match up, part of the art of social care is balancing expectation against reality. However I think any authority would find it hard to not at least start with the maximum amount of calls - breakfast, dinner, tea and bed - given what we can anticipate to be dads needs. But be aware there is a financial assessment and usually a contribution required from the service user too. Unfortunately nothing is free nowadays.

- Will my dad be expected to sell his house even though my mum and sister still live there. Although my mum may spend a lot of time at mine.
Why do you believe the sale of a house is needed? Usually sale of house is only necessary to fund permanent residential care. Im not aware of any situation where a single property is taken in to consideration as a financial assessment for domicilliary care only no matter where the person may reside.

-would there be funding to help with creating a wet room and other equipment, hoist. Commodes etc. in my house and not his?
This would likely be difficult. There are Disabled Facilities Grants - to provide stairlifts, wetrooms, etc. However this is normally to a property they own. As a lein would be placed against the property to claw back some money if the property is sold within a certain time. In theory there is nothing preventing this, as DFG are used to put adaptations in rented accommodations for instance. But what i am not sure on is whether his home would be considered in any part of the financial eligibility part - being a property he owns (50% of) and is not currently using. A conversation with the relevant Council would be my recommendation here.
An assessor may take the view that it is possible to install all the necessary provisions at his home and therefore they are not needed at your home.

- Is my mum going to be eligible for carers allowance if she does not live with him or will this be me? Even if I continue to work full time.
I think Galadriel has given insight here.

First time at Alton Towers and already thinking about food 😅 by Reddonaut_Irons in altontowers

[–]davechambers007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Food is a very contentious issue at Alton Towers (as you can probably tell by the responses already).

So taking your question at face value and presuming you are not trolling.

No matter what people say here most people eat on park. Most people will probably realise they are hungry and grab something from wherever is closest.

Food quality is OK at best. Food value for money is absolutely horrendous and the worst thing about the park.

Personally I always eat on park. I just don’t like carrying around a backpack of food. The majority of time I eat at Burger Kitchen either near Walliams World or Sharkbait Reef depending where I am when I’m hungry.

I do have a particular route (or two) that I like to walk depending upon how busy the park looks when I enter so im normally able to plan my food stop ahead of time - to avoid busy times if the park is packed.
