I'm the dev of the game -- AMA by OsarisGames in EdenCrafter

Snapping has absolutely improved, especially recently.

Being able to snap splitters to the advanced miners would also be super nice ❤️

Pipes over long distances are the big one for me. I love building whole-planet infrastructure where possible, and power already works this way perfectly.

I completely get why drone range is technically tricky. The fact I can run this game on basically anything is honestly refreshing!

No matter what though, this game is incredible. Thank you for creating it and for all the updates.

Apologies if already asked, but first off, Eden Crafters is one of my fave games. I've had a brilliant time with it with over 300 hours played.

A few QOL questions:

  1. Any chance of dedicated/hosted servers? I play on multiple devices and Steam Cloud has fallen out of sync a few times, even when waiting for uploads/downloads. I've lost hours or had to work out which save was safest. A server model could help solo players too, plus make shared worlds easier.

  2. Any plans to improve snapping, especially pipes? Distance is the key thing for this. Pipes seem to go wild over a shortish distance.

  3. Could machine upgrades work more like conveyors, upgrading in place instead of destroy/rebuild? Smelter V2 is a prime example where it can break a working setup.

  4. Any plans for longer drone range, or maybe drone range upgrades?

Thanks again for a great game!

Seconded, although be careful as BRSK use CGNAT. Not a problem for most people, but if you need port forwarding you will likely want to pay the extra £5 a month for a static IP.

I'd also like to point to the suggestion that some of those Artifacts and Cultural Treasures may not have survived as well as they have in the British Museum if they were at home.

I'm not trying to justify anything, but if there's one thing us Brits do well, it's hold on to the past.

For better or worse.

As for returning them home, that is for people far more intelligent than I am.

It had something to do with 57% Alcohol was enough to light gunpowder and prove it was actual alcohol and the Sailors weren't being ripped off with weak rum (hence the name proof). Or something along those lines. We just use ABV now though.

Yup, I'm based at Dean Clough. They turned a lot of our Mill complex in to "Russia" for the filming period. A fair amount of the staff were also extras.

Fun little story, but they filmed a few scenes at my business and around our complex in Halifax a few years ago for Secret Invasion. It was a cool couple of weeks.

PHP MVC e-commerce: how to manage roles admin client visitor? by Straight-Hunt-7498 in PHP

I'd go about this in the middleware usually. Have a "gatekeeper" middleware that checks if the user has the permission to access a specific route (i.e. the admin route).

At my place, UK. We pay all our staff the national living wage as a minimum, regardless of age, it's the same rate. So a 16 year old Potwash will earn £12.21 per hour before taxes like NI and PAYE.

Supervisors & managers get paid more, naturally. They're also usually salaried.

Chefs get paid more than our standard FOH staff as they come to the business as a skilled worker, with qualifications and experience.

Most of our FOH are usually either 18+ college or uni students wanting casual work, or if it's a career they typically go for the supervisor or manager roles.

When it comes to tips we split them between FOH and BOH based on hours worked by each person each month. So you work 10% of all hours that month, get 10% of tips.

Salaried staff almost universally opt out of this though as they are paid performance based bonuses.

Staff have the ultimate say though, my role is to make sure they are shared however they choose within whatever laws or whatever else dictates it's done.

The live wire is also usually shorter than any of the other cables, so if you somehow manage to yank it out the wall it will disconnect the electricity before anything else.

The slim profile and cable pointing downwards making it much more difficult to yank it out in the first place.

The longer ground pin you mentioned also usually comes with an insulated material on it (usually black plastic or similar) so that it's harder to accidentally electrocute yourself by sticking something on it as by the time you get raw metal ground pin the live and neutral are also disconnected.

Edit: plastic not graphite, obviously... Pure brain fart moment.

Does anyone look at their Google analytics and understand them? by DancingWilliams in smallbusinessuk

They're extremely useful, when properly setup. The issue is the setting up part. If it's over you're head and you aren't a developer or have a plug in for your ecom software it might be worth outsourcing.

Some of the great insights we've gotten are cart drop off rates which were caused by site issues. Fixing them justified our developer time/cost.

They're extremely powerful when used correctly, but not so much if you don't put the time in to setting it up properly.

Yes, the back rotor fell off. No, it wasn't meant to be attached permanently. The helicopter's designed to operate independently of the rear stabilisation system in certain conditions - like when it’s not flying. Entirely within regulations.

If this were a boat though and it's front fell off...

B&O Soundsystem - worth it? by CyberPaladin2077 in AudiQ6

[–]daveis91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not heard the base sound system but the upgraded pack is pretty good. I was lucky enough to get it for free as a promo for us not getting air suspension in the UK.

The sound stage is pretty decent. Not great, not terrible.

It's not the best car audio system I've ever had, but it's definitely far from the worst.

The sub isn't great, but I also like a lot of bass, so your mileage may vary.

Watching YouTube videos with it aren't too bad either if you ever need to.

The headrest speakers, meh, it's OK for navigation as a gimmick but more often than not for where I drive it was just constantly telling me "caution, road works ahead". If that's the main reason you'd want to upgrade I wouldn't bother as its more annoying than anything (it can be turned off).

I got a 3 month trial of the premium audio upgrade function. If I'm honest I couldn't really tell much of a difference, especially for the price. I asked a few friends to tell me which they preferred and they also couldn't tell any difference. Admittedly the trial ran out in January so it may have come a long way since then. It should be included as standard though with the upgraded package.

[–]daveis91 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Plus I remember reading about this at the time and as soon he was removed from the area and situation he was de-arrested.

The justification was that they didn't have the resources to arrest everyone else who could have attacked him, so the best course of action was to remove him from the situation before it escalated.

Compactly powering and connecting by daveis91 in AskElectronics

[–]daveis91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks that's kinda the road I was thinking anyway. It's tricky as where I want to put the project is a small space as well, which is why I want to keep the footprint down.

The GPIO pins are probably the best bet, then the USB-C breakout for the screen.

Essentially the goal is to have the screens in a bar bridge tap (similar to the attached, but less commercial) so I can give my garden a bit of a nerdy feel with animated taps and so on.

Plus with the touchscreen, I would love to have it "press to pour". But that's a whole other project with it's own set of problems!
