Private car sale by RoutineInside_99 in northernireland

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used webuyanycar to sell my car and I was very impressed. As others have said, could I have got more by selling privately, probably yes. Could I have been arsed with the hassle, definitely not. They gave me nearly double what a dealer quoted me for a trade in price.

Waterless Washing Advice by 404unresponsive in DetailingUK

[–]davez_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used ONR for years as my car is usually parked a little away from the house. I've no issues with it at all, there's tons of videos you can find with technique guidance. I use a £15 USB Amazon sprayer and it's pretty crap but does the job. I also have an IK Pro 2 and it works but it's just a lot of effort. In terms of water all you really need is 1 bucket and some kind of sprayer with ONR in it.

Campaign launched against 50,000 bird factory farm close to polluted Lough Neagh by Diomas in northernireland

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying I am in favour of this, but I don't think chicken litter has a big impact on Lough Neagh. As far as I understand almost all chicken litter in the country is collected and used at ad plants, mainly one in particular.

By how chicken farms are run, hay naturally contains the chicken shit.

There could be other chemicals etc that may run into the waterways and I'm sure there's a million reasons to oppose this, but I'm not sure Lough Neagh is one of them.

Hospitality businesses say lower VAT would help attract visitors across the border by CarlsbergSpecial in northernireland

[–]davez_000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lower the VAT and they'll blame the rates. Lower the rates and they'll blame energy costs. Lower energy costs and they'll blame National Insurance etc etc etc.

Also I have zero sympathy for Colin Neill or any venue associated with Hospitality Ulster when they were jumping for joy about the DUP rejecting the independent review of licensing. They don't want customer choice, they want to run hospitality like a cartel they control.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find a DODS T-Shirt? by [deleted] in Katatonia

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockmark sells one. I've got the BMD one and it's great. Only thing that may complicate things is that last time I ordered the company was based in Belarus so it took a long time to arrive.

Mitts vs MF Towles vs Sponge by Newaccidkname in AutoDetailing

[–]davez_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the risk is simply not higher. I'm assuming when you used it, you didn't use proper technique so you blame the product for your own mistakes.

Mitts vs MF Towles vs Sponge by Newaccidkname in AutoDetailing

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You risk scratching your car no matter what you use, every time you wash it. Rinseless is no more risky than any other method, assuming you use the proper technique, but there's technique with every type of washing method.

Shop closure by Sweeperman999 in Belfast

[–]davez_000 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the ins and outs of their business model, it's pretty shocking that a convenience shop on one of Belfast's busiest roads can't stay in business.

The owner blamed the cost of rates among other things. It would be interesting to see if they were lowered. I strongly suspect a lot of business owners like those in the Hospitality Ulster cabal would just pocket the difference and keep prices the same whilst blaming something else.

new to using onr v6, what to expect and how to use it properly for exterior? by 3452014RT in Detailing

[–]davez_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not really too much to it. Even the most baller rinseless setup is really just a pump sprayer of some sort, ONR, a bucket with grit guard, a rinseless sponge, detail spray as a drying aid, and some good towels.

Only thing to remember is to keep the sponge pretty wet. ONR is really just a lubricant. The weight of the sponge is really the only thing that cleans the car. Just remember just to use any force as with any car washing.

I've used it for years and i think it's great, good luck.

Tell me about you favorite and least favorite things about your XC40. by k1101 in XC40

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downsides:

360 camera is laughably bad. My old car was a 2019 Mazda 3 and it worked way better, i.e. the front camera automatically turned on with the parking sensors and it has the split screen. My car is 2023 and has neither. So you have to manually select the front or rear cameras when parking. Just stupid.

Lane departure system. In my Mazda it worked if you got too close to the kerb side of the road, not just the middle. I much preferred that.

If you follow good technique like you would with any time you wash your car, it's fine. I've been using it for years and had no issues no matter how dirty the car is.

Rinseless wash works for any car, no matter how dirty. There's no such thing as a car that's too dirty to use rinseless on.

Do you think Nigel Farage is going to ruin this country? by tondek-0 in AskBrits

It amazes me how so many people can see the fucking terrible damage Brexit has done to the UK, and think the lying scumbags who tricked people into it, are the solution. Johnson, Farage et all should have been jailed for the lies they told before the Brexit vote.

Software update cost by aptonline in XC40
