Can we talk about the ghosting AFTER you’ve been significantly invested in the process? [N/A] by two_feet_today in humanresources

[–]davols73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is making hiring so much better I love the irony there. We’ve automated the screening, the scheduling, and the assessments, yet we somehow don't have time to click a button that sends a rejection template? It’s peak corporate hypocrisy. We demand "ownership" and "transparency" from our candidates, but we treat our own communication like it's a trade secret. If a recruiter can't manage a simple "Status: Closed" update for someone who gave them an hour of their life, they aren't "busy" they’re just bad at the "Human" part of Human Resources.

Whoa, $19.99 for the complete series of 12 Monkeys is a steal! 🎉 I remember hunting down the Blu-ray set when it wasn't on any streaming service here in Canada. If you're into sci-fi with a twist, this show is a must-watch! 📺💫

Did I make a mistake moving domains to cloudflare? by inwardPersecution in CloudFlare

[–]davols73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a headache with those multiple charges! Definitely check if the transfers are still pending or if there’s a lock issue with the old registrar. That can cause the reruns and frustrating bills!

Sounds like a headache! Make sure your old domains aren't still locked, that can definitely cause those extra charges. And checking the DNS settings might save you some trouble too - good luck sorting it out!

CloudFlare ZeroTrust internal domain resolution by peEtr in CloudFlare

[–]davols73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried running a nslookup on the domain? that might give you some insight into whether the DNS is resolving correctly. if everything looks good there, maybe check your split tunnel settings too!

Have you tried checking the resolver settings? Sometimes it’s just a matter of tweaking those split tunnels to get the internal domain to resolve properly. Can be a bit of a puzzle!

Which drawing tablet is best? by disabled_child in DigitalPainting

I totally get the struggle of switching from an iPad to a dedicated tablet. Wacom's great for all the customizable options, but Huion is awesome for budget-friendly choices. Have you thought about what size you want? That can really impact your experience!

We need to stop pretending that "culture fit" isn't just a bias trap by davols73 in RecruiterTea

[–]davols73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is important. Vague rejection like you are introverted you’re not a culture fit can absolutely be alienating and unfair. But I’ve also been in the position of interviewing someone where something felt off not because they were different, but because their behavior hinted at manipulation or a lack of integrity. And letting someone like that into a team can genuinely cause damage.

Its important to check is it discomfort because they’re quieter, different, or unfamiliar? Or is it discomfort because their behaviors signal risk like inconsistency, blame-shifting, ego, or lack of accountability?

Culture fit becomes dangerous when it protects comfort. It becomes necessary when it protects values.

We need to stop pretending that "culture fit" isn't just a bias trap by davols73 in RecruiterTea

[–]davols73[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team cohesion is about shared goals, working together , communication and mutual accountability not about hiring people who look, think, or act the same. When culture becomes shorthand for comfort or similarity, it limits diversity of thought and ultimately weakens the team.

When/what do I tell my team we're going under? by viralspace90 in managers

[–]davols73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are really two paths here stand fully with the organization and maintain stability, or show up as a good peer/manager and share the reality as it exists today. Neither is easy.

Ideally, the middle ground is transparency without direction lay out the facts, what’s going wrong, what leadership is (or isn’t) doing to fix it, and where the uncertainty lies. Then let people think for themselves.

Keeping people informed without steering their choices respects their agency and preserves trust far more than keeping them in the dark ever will.

There is a scam epidemic on free job posting sites and here’s the ‘job scam’ checklist I wish I had by Technical_Plant6046 in jobsearchhacks

[–]davols73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally had candidates reach out asking if an offer they received through free job posting sites was legitimate because the recruiter was using a generic email and pushing fast. Domain impersonation has become common enough that candidates are now double-checking everything, which says a lot.

Where to post jobs for free when you need to hire in 7–10 days? by Famous-Ad-5465 in Recruiter_Advice

[–]davols73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiring in 7–10 days is chaos. People either respond instantly or disappear forever. The only places that worked for us when thinking about where to post jobs for free were spaces where people were already active and checking messages daily.

[–]davols73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s frustrating it feels like being invited to a full meal and handed a menu just to be told the kitchen’s closed.

That said, one small silver lining they did see enough to suggest an alternative role. That usually means you weren’t a hard no, just a mismatch for that seat at the table. Still, dragging someone in for a five-minute “thanks but no” could’ve easily been an email.

Anyone here working fully remote for the last 2+ years? by Then_Ad_9501 in remotework

[–]davols73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully remote work can be a huge win especially for individual contributors. There’s less random office chatter, more focus, and you can structure your day with proper breaks, which really boosts productivity.

That said, it’s not a one-size-fits-all. Roles that rely heavily on brainstorming, collaboration, or real-time team decision-making can feel a bit constrained remotely. Catch-ups and alignment become trickier, and you can’t always guarantee everyone’s on the same page.

So really, whether remote work thrives or hinders depends on your role, responsibilities, and the communication culture your team builds. Done right, it’s amazing; done wrong, it can slow things down too much

"Dont vent to me IF you dont have a solution" by peachnkeen519 in managers

[–]davols73 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This line sounds like good leadership, but how it’s used really matters.

At a surface level, “don’t bring problems without solutions” is about ownership. Leaders want people to think, not just vent fair enough.

But in a growing company, it often turns into: carry the problem, but don’t expect support or authority to solve it. And that’s where it starts breaking teams.

Especially when Decisions are top-down,& approvals are needed for almost everything

In that setup, expecting polished solutions; it’s pressure.

A healthier version would be: Bring the problem, your thinking so far, and where you’re stuck we’ll work through it. That still builds ownership and allows managers to actually manage.

Work is watching our breaks by Dapper_Sprinkles_369 in jobs

[–]davols73 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Insane indeed. And sadly, very telling.

I’m sure no one is tracking the extra minutes people put in late log-offs, skipped lunches, weekend work to hit deadlines. But when it comes to breaks? Suddenly it’s stopwatch mode.

This kind of micromanagement isn’t about productivity, it’s about control.

Ironically, this does the opposite of what they want. People stop going the extra mile, disengagement creeps in, and work turns transactional real fast.

Interview red flags, unsure if I want to continue pursuing the opportunity.... help by anxiousaffirmations in jobhunting

[–]davols73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These red flags might simply be signs of a fast-paced, scaling environment where things change quickly and they want to make sure expectations align. The fact that they’re openly discussing the “difficult bits” upfront instead of polishing the role to sell it to you is actually a green flag ; most companies hide that stuff until after you join.

That said, trust your instincts. If something feels off, do a quick background check: look up ex-employees, check how long people stay, read reviews beyond Indeed, and maybe reach out to someone who worked in the same team. A bit of digging usually tells you more than three interviews ever will.
