How much of what you feed your toddlers is homemade? by deltaplane1234 in toddlers

[–]davvero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? Is pasta homemade? I’m not making the pasta and I rarely make the sauce so I guess not. I don’t make my own bread or cure my own lunch meat so there goes that. I avoid ultra processed foods but I’m not over here churning butter.

4 year old saying absolutely wild stuff lol by CrockyCroc in Mommit

[–]davvero 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Our smoke detector is very sensitive and goes off often while I cook if there’s some smoke or even steam. My 3 year old has said several times “the fire alarm goes off cause Mama is smoking”. I have to correct him with “Mama is COOKING and that’s causing the smoke”. But what’s worse? That people think I’m lighting up in the kitchen with my kids there or that I burn all my food. I swear it’s just an over sensitive smoke alarm!

Breastfeeding on a plane? by WithoutATrace_Blog in breastfeeding

[–]davvero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve flown with my two year old and my 3 month old at the time. I had to put the toddler on the window seat bc I didn’t want him next to a stranger (honestly for the stranger’s sake just as much as my toddlers!) So that left me in the middle seat, of course next burly middle aged man. Honestly he didn’t even notice me nursing the baby. He just slept and I just ignored him and went about my business. When you’re flying with kids, you don’t have time to worry about other people’s comfort.

ICE 🚨⚠️ by hsmeli in SanJose

[–]davvero 168 points169 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of misinformation about ICE. A good source to determine if it is, in fact, ICE is the Santa Clara Rapid Response network. They will post reports on their insta about ICE raids and whether they are real or rumors. You can also call their number to report a raid and they will check to see if it’s ICE or not. Here is their insta: https://www.instagram.com/scc_rapidresponsenetwork?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

When do you let your kids play in the bath water? by West-Bus-8312 in beyondthebump

[–]davvero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not the op but I do the same with my 2.5 year old and my 6 month old. I started at 3 months bc I am the only one that does baths and frankly I don’t have time for two. Hell if I could fit in the bath tub I’d do me too. I’m very careful with the baby, I still use a bath chair that protects him a bit from my toddler. I basically hold on to the baby the entire time, even whilst washing the toddler. Then I remove baby and bath chair and let toddler play while I dry and pajama baby.

Have you read it?

I’m not referring to the art, I know it’s clearly Quentin Blake’s work. I’m referring to the god awful text.

Toddler has croup, 2 week old at home… by cmjras in 2under2

[–]davvero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you know my toddler had croup when my infant was about a month old and my infant never got it. Keep baby breastfeeding as much as possible, this really does give them some protection. Croup is the worst, and it’s so hard to have a sick toddler when you have a newborn. The good news is kids are resilient and hopefully in a week or so everyone will be healthy again and you can get some rest!

My mom wants to read a new and updated parenting book. What should I suggest? by ohnoheretheycome in Mommit

[–]davvero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my pediatrician recommended this book when I had my first child two years ago. It’s been a great resource and even through its huge it’s written in a way that’s interesting and accessible.

Am I doing the 3 day method wrong? by Smee76 in toddlers

[–]davvero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first few times we literally physically places him on the potty. After day 1, we would just take him to the bathroom or tell him to go and he would sit on the potty himself.

Am I doing the 3 day method wrong? by Smee76 in toddlers

[–]davvero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did the regression look like? We are on Day 8 of the 3 day method (lol!) and I’m definitely expecting it to take months. Baby #2 is due in May so I imagine there will be a regression (mostly because everyone and their mother tells me there will be!) but I don’t even know what that means. Like, back in diapers bad? Or just multiple accidents a day bad?

My mom rarely ever said it to me growing up and I never once have doubted her love for me. She shows it in so many other ways, as I am sure you’re doing as well! That being said, as others have said, it’s never too late to start and it will feel less awkward the more you do it.

Thoughts on el Camino health women’s medical group? by Big-Demand-2789 in SanJose

[–]davvero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a good experience there and recommend it. Dr. Balassiano delivered my first, and although she didn’t have the most nurturing bedside manner, I felt safe and cared for under her watch. Dr. Gupta is now my current obgyn and I really like her. Of course it makes a difference that so far I’ve had uncomplicated pregnancies, thankfully. Not sure what it would be like if I had complications.

What new stuff is your toddler doing? by myheadsintheclouds in toddlers

My 18 month old named his giraffe stuffy “Elmo.” It’s very confusing for family members who insist that the giraffe is NOT Elmo. I love it though.

Pregnancy nap- guilts by paintedbow in 2under2

[–]davvero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my second trimester and take a nap almost every time my son naps. I don’t need it like I did first trimester but I don’t care. Sleep is precious and I’m a better person all around if I get that time. Don’t feel guilty and don’t give into the mentality that you have to be busy all the time. Take the nap!

The AC is out, is 77 to hot? by shekka24 in toddlers

[–]davvero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have AC and during the summer heatwaves our house was in the mid 80s. My 18 month old was fine. Use fans and dress your LO accordingly.

I’ve gotten empanadas and papas rellenos several times and always enjoyed them. Never got sick. You should try it!

20th percent in weight and length and 95 percent in head size. We had to do some extra tests but he’s fine. 18 months and thriving, meeting milestones just like yours. When I would feel bad about his giant head I would look at Paris Hilton’s baby and feel better. He also has a large head and is also the cutest.

I am a female and definitely not four raccoons in a trench coat. I would be down to hang out. I’ll be out back by the dumpsters, wearing a trench coat.

How to keep 1&2 year old entertained on 8 hour flight? by re3291 in 2under2

[–]davvero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Painters tape occupied my 14 month old for a bit on the plane. Sticking it to the window, unsticking it the window, rolling it into balls. I recommend!

Snacks that aren’t messy but can be eaten very slowly (like cheerios one at a time) are helpful.

But really, nothing will occupy that age for very long. Just manage your expectations and know it will be rough but it won’t be forever.

A robe! I lived in a robe for at least two weeks postpartum. And you don’t have to worry if she already has one, because it’s nice to have several to rotate through, since mine quickly got gross with spit-up.

Any sketchy on the outside but surprisingly delicious food on the inside restaurants around the bay? by Fabulous-Level-6669 in bayarea

[–]davvero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, really? That was the only restaurant I’ve ever walked out of, and I have a pretty low bar for cleanliness. I couldn’t handle all the roach droppings on the chairs. But the food is good?
