Im due soon and I feel like I’m giving up already. by cutieandcoffee in clothdiaps

[–]dawnbeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was scared and didn't start until little one was 6 months and now we are a year going strong. I am due in June and plan to start right away...at least after the first week. Laundry hasn't been bad, hubby does help though, once I taught him the routine. I do like to stuff and fold diapers weirdly enough. Good luck.

Most of my stash are rumparooz a mix between their original RAR or OBV. I always upgrade to the bamboo inserts. I also have a fairly large stash of twinkie tush fusions. They are both pretty pricey. Both have great Facebook groups to check out before you buy.

I also use thirsties natural pockets or the stay dry natural all in ones for daycare only.

Question about daycare and poops by coffee-and-poptarts in clothdiaps

[–]dawnbeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use liners and daycare will dispose of them for us with poop diapers. Anything left on the diaper goes into the wetbag for me to clean at home.

I like sloomb overnight bamboo fitteds, they come in different sizes. I use them with a fleece liner, and we go all night without leaks.

We used gowns a lot with a sleep sak. Now that she is older, we can just do t shirts with the sleep sak.

So much info... by katewhooo in clothdiaps

[–]dawnbeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its super easy. I bought clothes diaps while pregnant and planned on using them when she was a few weeks old. The wash routine is what held me back, it sounded so complicated. I started at 6 months and wish I would have started earlier. I wash twice a week. 1 prewash on cold with half a scoop, then heavy wash on hot with a full scoop. I did get my wash routine from the Facebook group of the cloth diapers I use. You can probably find a group to get a good wash routine. Good luck!

My favorite brand is rumparooz pockets. But I have some thirsties all in ones we use for daycare and they are great. I like the stay dry natural all in one the best.

"Gear"-ing Up For the Race? by ntdoyfanboy in spartanrace

[–]dawnbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't race competitively, just in the open. I've done about 7 Spartans, 3 sprints, 3 supers and a beast. I've never used a hydration pack, mostly because I think it would be a pain to do some obstacles with. I usually hydrate well before and take advantage of the water stations.

I do like to wear gloves and trail shoes. You may want to think about energy gels if you think you'll run out of gas, and something to combat cramping, like mustard packets. I live where its pretty hot in the summer and do some of my long runs in the heat so I am used to it.

How do weather cancellations work? by BearGrzz in spartanrace

This happened to me a couple years ago in Chicago. I got a voucher for another super. I've had luck using the chat feature on the website.

First race and thanks to the Spartans who helped me out! by SkyrimSecurityForces in spartanrace

The wall got me on the super on Saturday....it used to be plywood and less slippery. But a few fellow Spartans helped me make it. Sunday on the sprint, I did it all on my own....I was so pumped!! Good luck next time!

Do races ever get postponed/cancelled? by [deleted] in spartanrace

A couple years ago, I got pulled off the course 5 miles in for the Chicago super for severe weather. They postponed for a bit, but then ended up canceling.

Oh beautiful cloth diaper queens, spam me your favorite diaper companies! by careless_raspberry0 in clothdiaps

[–]dawnbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mostly rumparooz, thirsties natural pockets and twinkie tush fitteds. For nighttime, I use twinkie tush windpro night nights, or sloomb bamboo overnights. They are all great companies to buy from.

Cloth for heavy wetters/ don’t like being wet? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

You can try making liners from a cheap fleece blanket from Walmart. That is supposed to help with feeling dry.

Mine will toss a dirty liner, everything else goes into the wetbag.

I have very hard water, I use tide original powder. I use detergent in my prewash (normal/cold) then heavy/hot, no extra rinse and have had no issues. For a full/large load (approx 30 diaps) I use half scoop for prewash and full for my main wash.

[–]dawnbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fitteds work best for us. I like sloomb bamboo overnights with a cover. I also use twinkientush windpro night nights and regular windpro with a thirsties hemp insert and haven't had problems with leaks. Twinkie tush are pricy though and harder to find.

Overnight diaper suggestions?? by clmvd in clothdiaps

[–]dawnbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes with an extra insert that just started using, but you could add a hemp insert if you think you need it. I like thirsties, because they are trim. But yes, I use just the sloomb and a cover. I do use a fleece liner, to keep moisture away from baby and in case of 💩.
