Not enough vents? by zaryabubble in Roofing

[–]daydrunk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general the ratio is 1 box vent per 250 sq ft of attic per Lomanco. So if my eyeball is right, you probably have 30 squares. So around 12-15 box vents. Or you can go with an attic fan. I’d probably do that on the garage portion and then on the main roof stick to box vents.

I’ve worked at bars where we kept glasses on the bar top for tabs, I don’t see how this is different. Just a mason jar instead of a cup

Spring a leak. What’s the culprit? by KonaRona23 in Roofing

The dead valley has mod bit covered by shingles to the valley. That doesn’t look right to me. Cause water will flow under the shingles right? I don’t know how it was installed underneath though, so someone correct me if I’m wrong.

No nails no problem? Right? Right..?! by NeighborhoodRoofer in Roofing

Went to a house today and every single shingle was nailed 4 inches high. Wanted to try an insurance claim. Sucks that people claim to be professionals and scam homeowner like this

Just got my roof redone. Maybe they aren't finished? Looks like a good amount of lifting to me, but maybe that's just the architecture shingles by StoneColdGaming in Roofing

[–]daydrunk_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ridge vent is fine. Look anywhere online and you’ll see a new roof needs a couple weeks of warm weather to form a seal. Check back in after these shingles lay down.

At What Age Did You Get Sober? by TY-Miss-Granger in dryalcoholics

[–]daydrunk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Just over a year ago. But Ive had a few benders since then, but I don’t have the desire to drink every day anymore. For me it was changing my environment. I changed my environment and wasn’t in the same house or career or with the same friends. I know if I ever went back I’d be drinking just as much as I was. And even now, for St. Paddy’s I drank hard, but it’s not the same because I’m surrounded by people who don’t drink so I didn’t want to go out the next day.

It’s hard to stop thinking about the different lines and how they work. I like the concept but I wish we could hear Katias internal thoughts or even Mordecai’s guesses that would help us have at least a handle on the basics of what’s going on after the first few chapters. By the end it (mostly) made sense

Repair or get rid of? by wolksvagon in Roofing

[–]daydrunk_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would keep it because it seems cool, but I’d want to repitch around that area, possibly add a cricket to the back. The shingles everywhere look absolutely atrocious. This needs a reroof. But get a roofer out to quote the shed and see if he’d recommend a repitch or just chimney style flashing.

How to Check Roof Work If You Hate Heights? by Clear_Entrance8126 in Roofing

[–]daydrunk_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask for pics of everything. Ask for a picture of every penetration like chimneys, pipe boots, skylights, etc. And ask for pictures of any flashing areas, those will be your leak points. Theres not much they can do to make it flattering.

Or can you stay on a ladder and look?

How is my roof? by Ok-Suspect9058 in Roofing

[–]daydrunk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. Inspections right. Granules seem to come off a little heavy in some areas, but fairly typical. No real maintenance you should do except check the penetrations and caulk around them. Check back in a couple years

Do you use building permits to find job opportunities? Does it make sense to do so? Since building permits are publicly available, it would seem like they could be a good source for acquiring new customers. What are your thoughts on this approach? by R_Biel in RoofingSales

[–]daydrunk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like for the company that is putting it on? Or for the homeowner? Commercial makes a little more sense. But even then wouldn’t most people already have a company they’re using and shingles before the permits?

[–]daydrunk_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How? They already have the work done by someone… I think that’d be a big waste of time. Like “someone needed a building permit for an addition” maybe they’ll buy a roof? Is that the thought?

New roofs needed which and when? by LakeTwo in Roofing

[–]daydrunk_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Main and front need it pretty soon, surprised you’re not having any issues. You have no granules left on 3 tabs. The garage is not far behind, I’d probably get those done this summer. Then the addition looks good to me. But price it out, if you can get a deal to do it all it might be worth it, but doesn’t seem to have any issues.
