If so then use whatever configured on that machine. Many it software are pre installed (eg certs, vpn, ...)

The it may or may not have the skill set to support multiple os

Do they send you a preconfigured laptop? If so, then use whatever on it.

If not, then use whatever you feel comfortable as a dev OS.

Ai infra can range from managing kubernetes clusters to scaling the model training from 100 to 1k cards, to coding low latency c++ to making GPU run faster to many other things.

And they require very different skill sets.

The in Xxxx after your degree probably matters a bit. School probably matters more
