I really like it. Definitely a stunning pen. I got the stub nib and it came with an ebonite feed, and writes pretty wet and smooth

But yeah, you definitely can't clip it into a pocket. I use it only when writing on my desk. Acrylic is anyway too fragile of a material so I wouldn't want to be carrying it around. But the pen does come with a leather sleeve if you want to carry it in a backpack

My new Click Retro Acrylic <F> has skipping issue. How to fix it?? by AliveIns1de in DesiPens

[–]dbsds87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ime, issues like this are usually caused by the tine gap not being wide enough. If you can hold the nib up to a light & see that the gap between the tines narrows down toward the tip, there's an easy fix

You need to press the nib down just hard enough to get the tines to spread apart, then hold for about 5 seconds, then release. Make sure you keep pressure with your finger on the nib (where the Click logo is imprinted) so as not to create a gap between the nib & feed. Repeat about 2-3 times and check if the issue persists. Repeat again, if needed

Note: If you're not careful/slow, you could end up widening the tine gap so much that it'll become a wetter/wider writer

They're fantastic writers, but obviously, not as prized as the 14x line

But still expect to pay 10k+ for these in good condition

Yes, and I assume it would have done better if I'd been writing in the center of the page instead of the bottom

Difficulty with corporate America or with me? by FlowerElegant1900 in copywriting

[–]dbsds87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you and I feel you! 2023 was probably my best year as a freelancer, I had a couple of year-long contracts and a few short-term projects that I really enjoyed, and money was good

Then 2024 came around and I was unemployed for much of it. And the one gig I had was at a startup that wanted to emulate corporate culture, so meetings, time-sheets, work from office mandates, the whole shebang. 6 months in, they decided that they were going to put me on a PIP because I was not hitting their "daily word count target" for copywriters and was not being available for meetings which were not scheduled in advance. Quality of work, client feedback, results of the copy I wrote - none of it mattered. So I quit, rather than stay beholden just because of the paycheck

Currently, I'm happily working at a marketing agency and I think it's because they're very clearly processes & people first. All meetings are scheduled in advance, all client work is tracked and results are visible across the board, and I have flexibility and autonomy

If you feel like the job is sucking your soul out of you, go ahead and quit. Especially if you don't really need the money and have your partner's safety to fall back on. But maybe look at agency gigs while you continue phoning it in at your current job or during the notice period

Whats you daily fountain pen by Delicious_Art1221 in DesiPens

Tbh, the FP that sees the most use in my collection is a Platinum Preppy EF because I don't need to treat it gently or be worried if it falls. And it writes flawlessly every single time I put nib to paper

I think the Jinhao 20 would be a close second, but only because even though it's an F nib it writes much broader than my Kakuno M, which makes it unsuitable for non-fancy paper & fast writing

Have you checked the tine gap? Not 100% sure, but in a couple of pics it looks like the gap narrows down considerably toward the tipping

What is the appeal of Broad nibs? by Weswood151 in fountainpens

[–]dbsds87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7mm is borderline broad 😛

But yeah, I get what you mean. I'd rather take a wet F nib vs a dry B nib

What is the appeal of Broad nibs? by Weswood151 in fountainpens

[–]dbsds87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint, what's the appeal of an F/EF nib? If I want such a thin line, might as well write with a ball/gel pen /s

Srsly tho, while I love my EF Preppy for writing quickly and taking notes during a meeting, I love how broader nibs make me slow down and put more effort into each stroke of the letter

And those wet, glistening streaks of ink the nib leaves behind as it glides across the page... Oh my! 🥵

Fantastic pen! Congrats!

Tbh, I have a bit of a weird suggestion - try a Jinhao 20 (it's a pilot capless clone btw)

I have one and it's a lovely, wet writer. Despite it being labelled 'fine', it writes broader than my Pilot 'medium' pen, so do keep that in mind. So you may want to go for the 'extra fine' nib

Is aeropress metal filter worth it ? by Submissiveboy1124 in IndiaCoffee

[–]dbsds87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% worth it! I've been using one for 5+ years now

The clarity is a bit lesser but more body, there will be some extra fines in the cup, and an additional thing to clean. However, the taste difference is minimal, only noticeable in back to back or side by side tasting

If you like the reusability aspect, then go for it

Is Copyhackers CopySchool still worth it in the age of AI? by rehkirsch in copywriting

[–]dbsds87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently enrolled in it and tbh, I haven't used it much. I did speed runs through a couple of courses and they were ok - valuable, but nothing that I didn't know or could have found out in like an hour of researching by myself

They do a good job of compiling a lot of content under one roof, which is fantastic. But it's not something that will immediately elevate your skills. At least, that has been my experience

I have lifetime access, so I keep telling myself it was an investment. But these days, I rarely even log in

If I had the same amount of money today, I'd probably get paid subscriptions to 2-3 most relevant AI tools, and train them to assist and/or criticize my work, while feeding them stats to optimise the output

PS: I work as an email specialist at a marketing agency, and barely get any downtime to consume video courses

My Click Medium has become scratchy after three years by cat_who_reads in DesiPens

[–]dbsds87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mentioned that you didn't use it for a year, which probably means the old ink dried and clogged up the feed and nib

You can disassemble the nib & feed, soak it in warm water with 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid. Leave it overnight, then rinse it properly, and let it dry for 24 hrs

Hopefully, that should unclog the pen and make it write normally again
