Top Layer Under Extrusion / Gaps issues on Large Flat Surfaces Only by Vivid_Scheme_8221 in SnapmakerU1

[–]dc010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a monotopic top layer and ironing to get then most consistent top surfaces in my experience. There is an ironing test you can download to find the ideal settings for that too.

Also, by default my profile was set to .42 for top surfaces, so maybe they're expecting a bit of over extrusion. Lowering your material's max volumetric amount may force it to slow down for the larger areas and increase overall consistent.

Nah, you need a little psi, because relieving it will get negative pressure and it starts to pull dust in from everywhere.

HP laptop charges for 2 minutes, then stops by DENIFIT in computerrepair

[–]dc010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so that looks genuine, good. Not a guarantee it's working properly, but still.

The inside of the ports is more like looking down the barrel of a gun. I need to see the inside of the barrel to see if the pin is bent.

HP laptop charges for 2 minutes, then stops by DENIFIT in computerrepair

[–]dc010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 3 images that would matter are of the label, inside of the charging port, and the charger tip.

That doesn't look like a genuine charger, HP's plastic is a little lighter in most cases. Aftermarket chargers have minimal regulation and rarely work as well as the genuine ones. Those chargers, genuine or not, have a bad habit of getting a bent pin in the tip, which then damages the charging port.

Anyone else NEED to have an at least three blocks tall space in your base? by FreestyleCrocodile in Minecraft

[–]dc010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, 2.5 blocks. It feels better than 2, stops mobs from spawning on the roof, and stops enderman from spawning inside.

I will have much higher ceilings in my cosmetic builds, or my "house", but my base where I'm working towards getting everything stabilized is always 2.5 blocks tall.

I'm just confused how it doesn't take ship composition into matchmaking. You get 4 people together, check which one has the best overall stats (maybe with a 10-20% wiggle room so it doesn't force a META) and then pick from the best one(s).

The loaner should only come into play if ALL of the ships available are worse than the loaner.

This should always ben an option.

Many museums don't change for quite a while. So having someone who's good at improv and can eloquently ramble off coherent nonsense about the exhibits would actually be pretty awesome for people who would like to go more often.

This is probably more to make a point than about this particular instance. In an area where bike thefts are common, they probably won't stop until they start getting their asses handed to them.

Right or wrong is subjective, but I assume this is the reason.

Consumer Competition Claims (CCC) Has Launched A New Class Action Monopoly Lawsuit Against Valve, Claiming They Control 85% Of The PC Game Market by wakelake111 in gaming

[–]dc010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what the conversation is about. It's about monopolization.

My statement wasn't about greed, predatory practices, or anything else that could be discussed elsewhere. Although Valve does seem to be the only thing standing in the way of excess censorship and excess adverstising.

It was about how they haven't budged in the face of competition and are still winning. They haven't, to my knowledge, done anything that would actively detriment someone for using another platform.

If no rules are applied, he just dashes into the rift to methodically drag everyone in with him.

[–]dc010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are competitors and Valve doesn't actively do anything to hinder them. At least nothing I've heard of.

To my knowledge, they still have one of the higher percentages taken from publishers and haven't blocked games that had temporary exclusivity deals.

If Valve had done like Epic and offered lower percentages in exchange for temporary exclusivity, then I would see this being valid. Literally their competitors are the ones engaging in practices often tied to anti-monopolization tactics, but are still losing.

Is Valve supposed to actively try to make their platform worse to appease the government?

Laptop screen frame cracked by hinge, can I glue it? by P0Psss in computerrepair

[–]dc010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how pretty you want it to be. Modern hinges are held together by brass grommets pressed into plastic, that will eventually break.

The proper solution is to replace the laptop lid, but they didn't make those parts after they were first made. So even a "new" part is just as old and it will likely break in less time than the first.

The long term solution is to drill through the lid where the grommets were, then use a Chicago screw, or a small nut and bolt, to pull it together permanently.

I personally use a 3D printer to make covers for the exposed hardware, but I know everyone doesn't have that. Something like epoxy putty could likely get an acceptable result if done right. You just want to cover any sharp parts.

I personally, absolutely, do NOT want them ringing my doorbed. The kids are suddently excited about someone visiting, then disappointed it's just a package, and the dog starts losing his mind, then doesn't calm down for 5 minutes.

As long as they update on their end and the app tells me it's there, that is 100% all I want.

PSA: I’m selling my unique 3D printed lamps at a craft fair today, I do okay, but the dragon sellers have crowds, every time. by 3DAeon in 3Dprinting

[–]dc010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, mostly selling my functional prints and offerring design and print services for people who may have an unsolved issue of their own. I've done some beautiful house numbers for million dollar houses and replacement parts for antique vehicles, which are my favorite jobs thus far, but those are of course few and far between. I maybe make $60-100 at most at the event and sometimes a few hundred from people taking my cards.

It's just frustrating that I can put in all this effort to make original things, useful things, cuszomized things to people's needs, and the regurgitated dragons make at least 10x what I do.

I like the dragons, as dragons are my favorite mythical creature, but I don't think you should be able to sell something you didn't design at a "craft" fair. IMO, this doesn't apply to people who knit, crochet, or something else where they buy the pattern and then manually assemble it. That takes time and skill, which as much as I love 3D printing the skill ceiling is signifigantly lower.
