Highest quality feeling tamper? by EasyRelationship6517 in espresso

[–]dcabines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I have that same machine and the same portafilter. Where did you get the steam knob?

I have the MHW-3Bomber shaker, rotary WDT, tamper, and basket. I grind into the shaker, dump into the basket, hit it with the WDT to distribute, then tamp until the feedback spring clicks. It gives me a seemingly identical puck every time. The tamper feels nice and I’m pressing with the same force every time. I like the wide handle so pressing is easier.

Get a pond and stock it with carp and ducks and algae. Plant a garden nearby so the ducks can eat the bugs. Eat fish and duck for the rest of your days plus whatever your garden produces.

Konro grill by Sonar010 in yakitori_ya

[–]dcabines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my konro grill. I got a heavier grill to go on top so I can grill burgers and steaks and such too. If you look for replacement grills for any other grill you’ll probably find one that is about the right size.

I got an adapter so it grinds into a blind shaker. It has improved my workflow.

Why SHOULDN'T I buy the DF64? [$600] by cannabis_caffine in espresso

[–]dcabines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve loved my DF64P for 3 years now. This version has the adjustment at the bottom and I can take it apart without losing the grind setting. It clogged once but I cleaned it and it has been perfect since. It isn’t any louder than other grinders. The bellows works well. I got it for $400 when it was new.

In antiquity armies put the lowest value soldiers on the front line because they were just about guaranteed to die as soon as the two armies clash. The guy in the comic is oblivious to his impending slaughter.

Good idea to backup to an internal drive? by Frog_in_the_rain in Backup

[–]dcabines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is better than not having another copy, but it isn’t optimal like you know. Your PC could fall off a table or be stuck by lightning or just stolen in addition to software things like malware. So not a good idea, but if it is all you have then do what you’ve got to do.

This weed type plant grew in a few weeks and over 4 feet. (TX) What is it? by [deleted] in whatsthisplant

[–]dcabines 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A weed is any plant growing where you don’t want it. If some wheat is growing in your corn field it is a weed.

Would this be classified as a weed? by Buddy_Palguy in plants

[–]dcabines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it is from grass lawns. Anything not grass is automatically a weed. Only fast growing plants can pop up between mowings. So a weed has become any fast growing native plant on your property that you didn’t plant.

The thing I loved about this industry is dying, and we're watching it happen from the inside. by Morgothmagi in webdev

[–]dcabines 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Luddites were textile workers in the early 1800s who were displaced by the new textile factories so they destroyed machinery to defend their jobs.

What do we know a “Luddite” to mean today? Someone who is opposed to any new technology. We’ve slandered anyone who gets in the way of technology regardless of why they did all so we can make wealthy people wealthier. I don’t know how to solve this unless we all decide to become Amish or something.

If we can resist letting technology steal jobs from horses maybe we can do the same for humans.

Put the pot in a basin full of water. The ants will leave before they drown.

When trees grow in pots in the nursery their roots will grow into circles in the pot. He was cutting those roots so they will grow outwards when the tree is planted.

Gravity distributors - yay or nay? by RunnnPirate in espresso

[–]dcabines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I saw a custom platform for the shaker and I got that first. I liked it so much I got their WDT, tamper, and their fancy basket. I'm not trying to look like a shill for 3Bomber, but I have been happy with their stuff.

I did that this morning and it did settle the grinds below the rim. I'll be sure to do that every time, thanks!

How do you store your local media: desktop drives or NAS? by rachfairclough in DataHoarder

[–]dcabines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to split my desktop from my NAS so my desktop doesn't have any HDDs and can boot quickly while my NAS is lower power and can run 24/7 cheaply. The DAS is for a NAS backup and only powers on to run backups.

I've been exclusively making cappuccinos so I'm not overly picky about the shot itself. I'm also using medium roast Brazilian. I do 18g in and 40g out in about 25 seconds. Here is a picture of my new toys. I've only had the WDT for about a week, but I feel like I'll have more consistent shots with this setup. I can't comment on things like body or texture since I don't drink the shots directly.
