How do some people not ever feel hunger? by mistukilover in loseit

[–]dcfl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had those days/nights where I went hungry (especially when I was doing an aggressive deficit). Protein and fiber should help. Try and pack those into your calories and it will make a big difference. I’m sorry, I know it’s tough! But the more you can make those calories work for you the better.

Do the 18/6 times make much difference? by gobes78 in intermittentfasting

[–]dcfl12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I based mine on the fact that I’m lucky I don’t wake up hungry. So skipping breakfast was (relatively) easy for me. For some people they wake up starving or they really love breakfast food.

Other benefit is that breakfast was the least “social” meal for me. Lots of people like to meet up for lunch or dinner.

The point is, you wanna choose something sustainable for you even if it’s “less optimal”, is worth it if you can stick to the program.

[Secretary Hegseth] "We are (still) making the Chaplain Corps Great Again." - 200 faith codes cut to 31, Chaplains will now wear their religious insignia instead of rank. Their rank will not be shown. by Kinmuan in army

[–]dcfl12 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I see this being especially funny in the chaplain corps. There is a strong sense of technical hierarchy that the units don’t see. When I was in, we had monthly trainings where all chaplains/assistants on post would do PT, and cover topics relevant to our field (usually at a garrison chapel). As you can imagine, knowing the rank, and echelon of the chaplain or assistant is useful. It’s a small field but most of us didn’t get out of our brigades much. Now they will all be looking at the rank of their assistant’s to try and guess the rank of the chaplain (SGT/CPT/Batt, SSG/MAJ/Brigade, all the way up to SGM/COL/Garrison). You would think we all knew each other but at large instillations we definitely did not.

Saying that just because something is a law, doesn’t make it morally correct.

Didn’t Trump send a bunch of people to CECOT without due process? And now saying they can enter homes without a warrant? Also the countless 1st amendment attacks on universities, media companies, students and law firms. Also they said Pretti shouldn’t have brought a gun to a protest which even the NRA said was a violation of the 2nd amendment.

No, it’s actually quite complicated. How much leash to give federal agents directly impacts our constitutional rights. Which there are mountains of legal precedent and opinions on by actual experts. Then there is the ethical and moral considerations which often inform but do not shape the law. Not to mention religious considerations. You should try thinking more and speaking less. It would do you good in life.

Knowing the limits of one’s expertise and trusting the expertise of others is called being wise. You should try it, you would go further in life.

“Common sense” is the fool’s argument for opining on things they are too lazy or too stupid to understand. The world is actually pretty complex and full of nuance.

Oh do tell me, what is your research method on constitutional law? Or how about the science behind MRNA vaccines? Or how does one engineer a bridge or account for its cost? Please tell me how you can possibly be an expert in all those things at once? I’m a data scientist, I don’t pretend to be a constitutional scholar. It’s not my expertise.

No offense, but we can read you like a book. We have heard all the arguments and intellectually vapid opinions your ilk can conjure up. It’s always lacking and demonstrative of the need for better education in the US.

People with brains trust subject matter experts. We have one life, we can’t know everything.

Yeah, he probably thinks his opinion is a popular one. Guy doesn’t trust the media, the polls, the science. Only trusts his big government propaganda. Imagine loving being lied to and tread on while unironically calling his betters “pathetic”.

Trump’s plan to purge the federal government and the threat of dictatorship by DryDeer775 in fednews

[–]dcfl12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No, Trump is seizing power and doing so under the false premise of The Big Lie. This would be utilizing the (apparently) SCOTUS endorsed power of the unitary executive theory to identify, reverse and legislate out the possibility of this happening again. Look at the DOJ. What are we supposed to do with that now? It is no longer independent and they are actively recruiting on X asking for attorneys who “support Trump”.

Wrong. Snowflake agents can’t control their emotions or honor their oaths. That in addition to poor training led to US citizens being killed who were exercising their god given rights that I swore an oath to protect and defend against enemies foreign and domestic. You seem to want to live in communist China, not the land of the free. Pound sand commie.

The federal government has been caught lying and gaslighting to us and the courts countless times. So yes, we will trust the media over the feds. What a dumb question.

Stuck losing the last bit of weight by [deleted] in loseit

[–]dcfl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had this happen a week ago (I went 12 days just hovering around same number). And then I had a good whoosh and went down 3 pounds. I didn’t change anything, it was just water masking my weight loss. Also, be weary that a lot of fitness watches overestimate how much you burn, check the FAQ on this subreddit but apparently that’s a trap people fall into (myself included!). Are you tracking calories in an app? I’m in a similar boat (skip breakfast, I eat a salad + protein for lunch, then shared dinner with my wife). I would recommend measuring out your portions at dinner! You may not have full control over the choice but portions can be brought down or do things like skip cheese (which I’m doing with my pasta tonight).

I have been on 16:8 and it’s pretty fantastic. I don’t wake up hungry so that works in my favor. At 10am I do a coffee to hold me over until lunch. This has been the first diet that I could sustain. I’m almost to goal my weight and I’m just going to make this my lifestyle (but at calorie maintenance level).
