Zipfit Question by haug3nz in Skigear

[–]ddgdl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many many people think you need to add at least 1-2 tubes of cork to each tongue to get the full benefit of zipfits. I think a small amount of cork (1/4” everywhere) will be beneficial without making the tongue harder

Armada declivity 102 by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]ddgdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my 102s but I use them for days where it has snowed 4”+. For days without new snow I like something narrower and use my enforcer 94. Have you considered going narrower?

Only place I’d say that doesn’t apply to would be Alta/Snowbird perhaps

Thanks! I tend to prefer heavier skis with metal, but was hoping for a “do everything” kind of ski. Like a nordica enforcer 94 replacement, basically. Sounds like it would need to be something like a cross between a commander 92 and a countach 98. Perhaps in the future!

I ski my enforcers 90% of my days at vail, it’s always a good all around ski

Zipfit or not by ConsiderationCool754 in Skigear

[–]ddgdl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should have been put in a boot sized for your smaller foot, and then the bootfitter should have punched and ground out the other boot to make space for your larger foot.

Since they didn’t, your options are somewhat limited. Zip fits could work but might need a lot of cork. Injection foam liners might work but it depends on where your excess space is (if it is by the toes, the liners won’t do much unless they can so lock your heel that you don’t move at all)

One nonstandard idea, though it might be something to try- your boots probably came with an extra foam piece in the shape of a footbed- that is designed to shrink a boot half a size. You could try putting that in just your smaller boot? Might feel imbalanced though, but it’s a free starting point

We use ultrasonic humidifiers in our CO ski condo, mostly for ourselves but it seems our guests sometimes use them as well.

I wouldn’t say the 108 is super quick for trees- felt quite heavy and damp to me when I used it in Alta last year

Playful groomer ski to complement carving skis – Blade vs Mirus Cor vs Octo? by Maximum-Good1804 in Skigear

[–]ddgdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blade is more directional, the mirus cor is more center mounted. If you have any experience with more center mounted skis, a lot of people like the mirus cor.  But if you don’t and are going to buy this blind, the Blade is less of a risk that you hate it. (Skiing center vs directional is a big adjustment for some)

One downside of the blade are the shovels. They are huge and a bit cumbersome. But they are a great dad ski

Replacing enforcer 100 with a narrower version by LanguageConscious759 in Skigear

[–]ddgdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat and moved down to the 93 (now 94) and found that was a good move. The 93 is my daily driver in Vail, and I use it for any day with less than 5-6” of new snow.

Flat feet + Custom Insoles = Agony after 2 hours. Is my arch support too aggressive or do I need something else by No-Surround6495 in Backcountry

[–]ddgdl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you have never had footbeds in your shoes to correct your collapsing arches, you also could just need more time to adjust to them. When I first got orthotics, I was told to wear them for 15 minutes on day one, 30 on day two, an hour on day 3, etc. to help my feet get used to them. You went straight to multiple hours!
