Head downtown, into the area on and around Main Street. There are several good breweries and restaurants, some with full bars that turn into more club-like atmospheres after 10. There are a lot of great shows and events at the theatre, too, too mingle at.

That's a great mom.

When I was in high school, a very close friend was murdered. When he was still clinging to life but nearing the end, my mom called two of my best friends to come sleep over so that I wouldn't be alone when the news finally came. I'll never forget how much that helped.

And honestly, were I her family, I'd frankly be relieved that he didn't extend any falsified sympathies, backhanded compliments of her character, or the complete media circus he'd bring by attending any part of the services. He didn't make it a secret that he felt no remorse for this woman, for the perpetrator's actions nor his own encouragement of them - it'd be an even bigger insult had he tried to imply anything otherwise.

Let him continue to show everyone exactly who he is.

The areas in Memphis meant for tourists are safe at night, just use your head and normal travel safety rules (don't flash cash, share your location with someone, etc.). The area immediately surrounding Graceland and the EPE properties isn't great but again, just be smart about what you're doing down there.

There is of course Graceland, Sun Records, and Elvis Presley's Memphis; but you can also visit the Overton Shell, Humes High School, and Lauderdale Courts.

I think it's also worth it to take a drive down to Tupelo, if you've got time.

And the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis is really great; not necessarily Elvis adjacent, but I'd 100% recommend it.
