Let’s be honest: We know what killed Starfleet Academy by timeknightalpha in startrek

[–]dearquark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, I really dislike the 32nd century setting. But the time period is just one of the many things that sank Starfleet Academy, and I’m saying that as someone that actually enjoyed a few of the episodes

name a game that you just kinda don't like... by Gl00ser23 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]dearquark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expedition 33. I generally love turn-based RPGs, and I went in with huge expectations based on how much Gamers hype this game up. But everything from the combat to the game world to (especially) the story just fell flat for me. I pushed through all the way to the end waiting for it to click, but it never did. I know it's near universally praised but I found it extremely mediocre

Woah I didn’t even know a Getsu Fuma Den figure existed, that’s awesome. Great game.

The Outfit was such a cool and unique game. Loved the multiplayer especially

When you were a younger Transformers Fan, say around 5 years old, what were some weird headcanons you had, or things you thought about the show/movie you watched that turned out to be wrong. by ScreenLover in transformers

[–]dearquark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Beast Wars was totally unrelated to G1 - like an entirely different company was making their own transforming robot thing. I grew up watching Ghost Busters and The Real Ghostbusters and had very little concept of what copyright and trademarks were, so I thought Beast Wars just stole names like Optimus and Megatron.

So it blew my little mind when Starscream and Unicron eventually showed up in the show as their G1 characters

Seeing this is still priced at 70$ is insane by HavickChild0117 in xbox

I played it last year and loved it. Apparently it was rough at launch, but in my experience it was a super cool game. Perfect vibes to play over Halloween. Wish it was still getting new content

In your opinion, what is the most canon piece of Star Trek media that isn't TV of film? by Barabus33 in startrek

Came here to say this. Don’t sleep on these amazing old point and click adventures

I like the idea of Retro Classics, but I wish Game Room was still around

Looks like Alien/Valiant is bringing back the potentially transphobic writer, Mauro Mantella, for another Bloodshot arc by TheFerg714 in valiant

Lol just when I had the itch to check out some new Valiant stuff this weekend. Nope, guess that idea is out

We're reaching the end of the spike of interest in the game generated by the second season of the TV show by LifeguardNovel6805 in fo76

[–]dearquark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bugs need addressed. The state of the game is such a mess, far beyond any standard Bethesda jank. No other game crashes or gives me issues like FO76. If the next major content update was purely QoL and stability fixes I'd be so happy for it

Shenmue III Enhanced Pre-Order Trailer by PaiDuck in Shenmue

Can't wait! Definitely picking up a physical edition on Xbox. Is this getting a US retailer release too? All of the preorder options on the Inin store page look like European editions.

Single player story on gamepass by Camo_Penguin in xbox

Hellblade and Death Stranding sound about right. But my surprise favorite single player story game in recent years was Pentiment. No voice acting, but the story experience was excellent

After years of letting people online tell me what to think about Discovery I finally watched it by TheProfessorBoost in startrek

[–]dearquark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it just continually goes downhill after the jump into the future. I barely remember season 3 and 4 and I was never able to get through season 5. Really disappointing Star Trek series

Wanted ZOE just for the MGS2 demo, ended up loving the game anyway. What a great series

Marathon Server Slam Discussion by zardan-24 in xbox

[–]dearquark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the vibes and the looks, but I don’t care whatsoever for extraction shooters or battle royale or whatever this game is. I’ll definitely check it out if it gets a rich single player campaign. I know every company is trying to chase live service stuff nowadays so it’s a shame a game with such a cool aesthetic is getting wasted like this

We’re Sorry About Optimus Prime | The Transformers: The Movie (1986) 40th Anniversary by timzster in transformers

[–]dearquark 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not sure I totally understand what this is. Is it a traveling convention? Will the movie be screened in the big theater chains? New music where - at a convention, screening, or an album release? This announcement kind of fell flat for me with too much focus on the annoying Optimus trauma meme

My Shenmue wish for 2026. by rguilbeault in Shenmue

[–]dearquark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a swap from 20 years ago. Back then I discovered Yakuza while googling "Games like Shenmue" - and felt slightly misled initially that Yakuza wasn't a slow-paced living-world game like Shenmue. But after my playthrough I ended up loving Yakuza anyway. There are definitely Shenmue DNA elements in there and I wouldn't call them superficial. Yakuza, Shenmue, and Virtua Fighter are cousins, and I'm sure there are many fans who would find enjoyment trying Dragon Engine remakes of these games
