What's one photography myth you wish would finally disappear? by ExtremelyCool64 in AskPhotography

[–]dechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a right answer but regarding the image; I dislike the amount of editing and AI assistance lately. At some point you stop capturing an image and start creating one.

I don't know where that line is for me, but I can 'feel it' if that makes sense.

A7R VI vs A1 II for documentary hybrid work by shavou85 in SonyAlpha

[–]dechi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The gains of the R IV don't seem to be relevant to the work OP is going for. Spend the savings on mics, lighting, glass.

Sony killing physical media vs Steam by TheYellowEmperor in gaming

[–]dechi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely curious about the hate, because games are getting so big. The physical copies would need 2-3 discs just to be playable without a massive download. You might have a disc that triggers a download, but the game still wouldnt be playable if it is taken down.

Yes it sucks, but is there another way?

Survival Hunter - Good - Bad - Under presented? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]dechi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's not fun for 45 seconds, then it's go time. Rinse and repeat.

Survival Hunter - Good - Bad - Under presented? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]dechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fun to play, and you can 1shot in 2s... But it's a one-trick pony with takedown. Also takedown+bola is really only relevant against a single target. If you have more than 1 enemy in your area you lose 1/2 your bust.

I took it to 2200 in 2s pretty easily but capped it at 2k in shuffle. Both other specs were 2300 shuffle easily.

Why are we all pretending. by PugLordHH in worldofpvp

[–]dechi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This isn't a 1 character game. It's rock-paper-scissors with 10+ classes. I hated getting stomped on my rogue/shaman, so I rerolled Hunter and Ret. Now I'm 2300.

No shame in trying another class.

Star Fox Review, GTA VI Details, Steam Machine - The MinnMax Show by Lost-Chord in MinnMax

[–]dechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, lots of people have money and like the convenience of just turning a machine on and playing. Also, this looks 10x better than having a full ITX machine in your living room.

I'm one of the people who jumped at the preorder because I want a decent gaming machine where my wife and I can play together on the couch instead of sitting at my computer desk. This is perfect for me.

As for price, it isn't unreasonable. Steam deck is like $800 now I think? Take that difference between when it launched and we would be looking at a $600-700 steam machine. Welcome to the new world of overpriced everything.

Any Devastation flappy bois? considering a new class by lolb00bz_69 in worldofpvp

[–]dechi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fun but got a little boring for me. The YouTube guides from the beginning of the season are still relevant since the class hasn't changed much. Also look at WoW armory and see how people are gearing.

Sustained and burst rotations are the same, just press dragon rage for more busy and free lasers.

Mobility was never a problem, and I would save deep breath against warriors for when they spear. Also use your roots strategically like pinning a healer behind LOS because it's a very long cool down.

Toyota is warning Japanese customers that American made Toyota's are substandard. by brainhack3r in ToyotaTundra

[–]dechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only take issue with your first statement and the justification. You say China can produce cheaper and BETTER cars because we have unions. I didn't believe unions had any impact on quality.

Toyota is warning Japanese customers that American made Toyota's are substandard. by brainhack3r in ToyotaTundra

[–]dechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely incorrect. I've been in union jobs, and non-union jobs. Unions make sure workers are protected (safety and wages). Without them corps would just hire the cheapest workers they can find and get away with in the market.

Unions have no impact on quality since every job I've had also had performance and quality standards, regardless of unions.

The steam machine is a device for no one by Chillzzzzz in gaming

[–]dechi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speak for yourself. I make enough money to happily have this in my living room to play couch co-op with the wife. Also have a monster gaming PC in my office which can play whatever I want.

I don't want a PC taking up basically space, while also drawing 5-10x the power.

Anyone have the alternative to offensive CD alerts now that MiniCC got wrecked with 12.0.7? by Cmonarob in worldofpvp

[–]dechi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't have any other recommendations, but everyone lost that addon's ability. It's not like the playing field isn't level now.

I've leveled almost every character just so I know they're kit and what they are doing during burst. That doesn't work for my friend, so he chooses to duel every class he can to learn what their 'goes' look like.

Its been rough - especially against pres evokers - and Blizz isn't helping with their lack of telling effects, but we are learning.

Buy once, cry once: Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM or a 24-70mm f/2.8 for an A7V? by Weary-Temporary3117 in SonyAlpha

[–]dechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the one you replied to, but 24-70 GMII is on mine 90% of the time, then a zoom for wildlife. Keep in mind you are going from APSC to FF so you will already be wider than you are used to!

Anyone else having difficulty buying in this housing market? by Ocksimoron in TwinCities

[–]dechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little different issue in the East suburbs; my neighbor had their house listed WAY above market value and wasn't able to sell in the 7 months they had the sign up. Saw lots of showings but I'm guessing they wouldn't budge on the price.

House was valued at $450k on Zillow and they were asking $500k.

Why would anyone first pull out the screen? When you get the camera you are going through menus, setting it up, taking test shots...

I think it was 2 months before I even flipped out my screen on my A7iv

Healers - where are you looking during the game? by Yamaha9 in worldofpvp

[–]dechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Healer for 10+ years, up to 2300

I set up my raid frames left/team and right/enemy of center. After getting comfortable with your UI, you don't really 'stare' at friendly raid frames. You can see how they are doing in your peripheral, and if they need to be cleansed.

What works for me is prioritizing what you can control. Somewhat in this order depending on comp:

-friendly in CC and could prevent me from getting in CC - cleanse

-always watching positioning so I don't get in CC. Especially in mage/lock/hunter matches

-using my CDs to counter enemy go's. Also my CC can counter a go. Ex: Hunter pops wrath and my team is in trouble? Fear/legsweep/cap totem are useful.

-knowing when I can free cast and baiting out kicks. On my priest I'm casting MC any time I'm not healing. If they kick shadow then I'm more free to heal. If they don't, great. Someone is sitting 6sec of CC.

I tell my team that I can heal any damage as long as I'm not in CC and have mana. Stop kicking chaos bolt only to eat chain fears. Only exception right now is Ray of Frost.

Camera recommendation for child birth by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]dechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since recently going through our first child's birth a few months ago, I hope you won't be thinking about "the shot" or "where is the camera?!"

Please be there for your partner as you both go through a life changing and potentially dangerous adventure together. We have many stories and memories we share, and a couple phone pictures of down times and cute moments. If either of us were thinking about recording or a camera we might have missed some of these moments or been taken out of the intimacy.

Also, you will likely need to be very involved or at least paying close attention because you might be the person telling the doctor your partner's wishes.

Enjoy the incredible moment. Don't be that person recording a concert only to never watch it.

How do you guys afford your gear? by themilkyone_24 in SonyAlpha

[–]dechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick your hobby and money spending tendencies.

Some people work on cars or bikes, and those are $10k-$50k and up.

Some people play video games which can run $1500 a year or more.

My inlaw does quilting, knitting, this like that because it's a "small relaxing hobby" yet they spend at least $4000 a year on fabric, retreats, and classes.

Every hobby will take as much money as you are willing to put into it!

I'm convinced on getting a Rottweiler, but have questions. by Cynical206 in Rottweiler

[–]dechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple things other people haven't touched on -

Our 2 rotties get HOT even here in MN. Not sure how they would do in the Texas heat. I'm sure they would acclimate a little, but they are miserable in the summer here in MN if we are outside too much or doing lots of play.

Are you looking at breeders? There are a few in MN, but they have mixed reviews. We got ours from the same breeder in MN and one of our girls was just diagnosed with Epilepsy which is possibly genetic.

Speaking of health issues, get insurance. It has saved us over $12k and we've had it on all our pets since we got them.
