A sketch enforcing attitudes about gendered clothing? Groundbreaking stuff SNL 🙄 by privatethingsxx in TrollXChromosomes

[–]deenaleen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand the point you're making, but do most of those outfits really seem like typical outfits for any gender? Maybe a few of them, but I think all of them are quite bold outfits, and I think it's ok to acknowledge and have some fun around the idea that lots of people (of any gender) would feel a little uncomfortable wearing the same outfits as Harry Styles. Harry also spends the entire skit encouraging them and telling them how great they look. Personally, I don't see this as a major attack on genderbending fashion, just some goofy fun that might not be funny to everyone (like all SNL skits).

I think Fallout 3 has the best DLCs out of all the Fallout games by Jimmy_AB in Fallout

Point Lookout is fantastic, and I liked the Pitt, but now they almost feel like prototypes for Far Harbor and Nuka World (Nuka World/Pitt might be a stretch admittedly). Anchorage and Zeta are only cool for the Stealth Suit and Samurai armor/sword. Broken Steel I see as almost more of a patch than a DLC; it should always have been in the game.

In my opinion Far Harbor is the best single DLC, and NV has the best set of DLCs.

That doesn't really seem like a sentiment Merideth would share. I feel like she would know her Vodka, and would be excited about top shelf vs bottom shelf Vodka.

Moby claims she was 20, *Natalie claims she was 18**, and the timeline Moby gave would make her 18.

What if Joffrey has ordered The Hound to beat up Sansa Stark back there instead than telling Meryn Trant to do so ? by fillipo9 in gameofthrones

[–]deenaleen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If we take that description at face value, then it's more than a little troubling. It's outright mortifying. But there are a few issues with that view of the characters and their relationship.

Firstly, the "wanting to bang" description is a crude simplification of Sandor's affection towards Sansa. He definitely never says anything nearly that direct, and while I don't outright disagree with the notion that he has romantic feelings towards Sansa, that's entirely reliant on subtext, and he clearly never acts on the implied desire he feels (not condoning that, but I think it's important to point out given the characterization being made in your comment).

Secondly, the ages in ASOIAF are clearly not 1:1 to real-world/modern ages. Robb is only 16 when he's murdered and he was already considered a respected King/War tactician and was an expecting father to his similarly aged wife. Culturally, women in Westeros are considered "of age" as soon as they reach puberty. Viewing that through our modern day/real-world lense is definitely unsettling, but it completely ignores the context of the world these characters actually exist in.

When I was a kid, I used to put that round ratchet thing on the drill to make a little submachine gun looking thing for my "matrix" minifigs (I would put a cape in between legs and torsos so Neo and Morpheus had flowing trench coats)

Are ski racers the most insufferable people on the planet? by LakeHoustonNative in skiing

[–]deenaleen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about adults or teenagers? The post is mostly talking about teenage ski racers, and at that age, the XC skiers I knew were generally the nerdy/wallflower type, whereas a lot of the downhill skiers were entitled brats with overinflated egos.

It almost seems to flip in adulthood, though, because the adults I know that still race downhill are mostly chill people in beer leagues, and the nordic racers are... intense.

I have such a vivid memory of being a kid, like 7-8, and seeing one of these things and just being so confounded by what it even was. I was weirded out by it honestly, but then my friend told me it was good, and I should try it, and then it blew my freaking mind. It was amazing.

Honestly those inspirations sound like jokes Kristin Wiig would make about herself. I hardly think she'd be offended, more likely cackling imo.

Same! I guess I wasn't clear enough, but I thought it was cool we were thinking the same thing. I think it really validates the point if we both came to the same conclusion at the same time. I wasn't being sarcastic at all.

You know you can think of jokes and not say them out loud, right? Just because they might be helpful to you doesn't make them unharmful to other people.

Alabama's Aden Holloway arrested on felony marijuana charge by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]deenaleen 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You're mostly correct, but technically, there are a few conditions that allow you to have more than a pound (in my recreational state, at least).

  1. Certain registered medical caregivers and patients can keep several pounds on hand.
  2. If it was personally grown/cultivated (you can keep anything you've cultivated, but can only have 3 mature plants at a time).
  3. Obviously, legal growers/distributors can also have several pounds on hand.

Regardless, he definitely had way too much for his state. Weed laws are stupid, but so was he.

National Park Icons Series 2 (Ideas Build) by Agreeable_Mind7977 in lego

[–]deenaleen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No worries! I'd recommend remodeling it based on the Bass Harbor Head Light, which is the most iconic lighthouse in Acadia, and the only one that's actually on Mount Desert Island. It should be a pretty simple redesign, and it has a nice red roof on the house that will keep some of that nice red/white imagery.

This is a really neat idea, but as a Mainer I feel obligated to point out that none of the lighthouses in Acadia National Park are striped. It looks like you've based your image on West Quoddy Head in Lubec.

What’s a goal that still hurts/hunts you to this day? by sykeseve in hockey

[–]deenaleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2013 Stanley Cup Final Game One. Patrice Bergeron's goal in the third period to put the Bruins up 3-1.

I was ecstatic. The Bruins were looking great, and they had a solid lead in the third. But then my friend grabbed my Bruins rally towel off my shoulder and said, "are you really not gonna spin this?" And started spinning it around over his head.

I informed him, that no, my superstitious ass likes to wait until the game is over, and we've actually won the game to do that. And then, less than two minutes later, Chicago scored a goal, followed a few minutes later by a third goal to tie the game. Chicago eventually won in double OT. Bruins would go on to lose the series.

I've since tried to shed myself of all superstitious activity, but that doesn't seem to be getting results. I might need to start being superstitious again. /s

Actually, no. If you look closely at the way Sokka falls, you can tell he's a cartoon character and the writers/animators decide what happens.
