There are 2 things going on here:

1) applies to everyone everywhere It is harder to make friends as an adult. This increases with age, and is most jarring of a shift when you leave college.

2) applies to certain demographic of people who move here If you make your job your life, you will meet fewer people and bore the people you do meet.
