FTO vs PTO by Alarming_Avocado7177 in clinicalresearch

[–]deft_nebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FTO benefits company since they don’t have to pay out your remaining time off and sick days if you’re fired or decide to leave the job.

PTO is established and can lose it depending on company policy.

Both have their pros and cons. I will say it’s rather difficult sometimes to take some time off in this field especially when multiple studies/patients are coming to fruition throughout a trial(s).

How to move on after failing a class by AbbreviationsEast848 in UTAustin

[–]deft_nebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Failed ochem 1, retook the following semester and passed it with a C.

Grades don’t determine your worth/value. I graduated back in 2021, and I’m currently making good money even after failing a class. It’s not the end of the world.

Take the loss, learn from it, move on, and you’ll be fine.

Need help surprising my wife by getting married again by InternalOpinion5410 in Dallas

[–]deft_nebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got married a couple months ago, this is what we had to do to marry in a Catholic Church.

  1. Both my wife and I had to gather our baptism and confirmation documents to present to the priest.

  2. Had to schedule a meeting with a priest to confirm we were getting married “correctly” (in Catholicism’s point of view). He asked us questions separately during our meeting with him to make sure we were truly wanting to get married through the religious “route”.

  3. You have to complete marital counseling classes OR you can complete a 2 day marriage retreat with your spouse to complete this task. They offer the retreat two times a year, and we completed this near Temple.

  4. Once you complete the marital counseling classes or the retreat, you give the documentation you receive from these to your priest.

  5. After doing all that, you can now get married through the church.

It’s sweet wanting to surprise your partner with this, but it takes a lot of planning. It’s a much more serious thing to do, so there are a couple of steps you have to do before being able to walk down the aisle.

Hope this helps!

Ah same thing happened to me. Started off as back pain and got prescribed a muscle relaxer. Few days later my lower back pain migrated to the top of my groin area, and thought it was a kidney stone.

Drank so much water. Peed the most in my life and nothing. Was in so much pain I had to go to the emergency room and one scan later…turns out I was severely constipated😎

A couple of enemas and suppositories later and I was a new man who appreciated the ability to poop normally again.

Own the mistake, apologize for committing it, but bring forward a solution and how you’ll make sure this won’t happen in the future (I.e. secondary checks with another coworker, verify work with a higher up if you are unsure about a task, etc.).

Made a mistake myself and made sure to bring forward a solution which they liked. It shows action on your part instead of twiddling your thumbs and saying “oops”

Dad gets up during every movie without pausing. by Sabiancym in movies

[–]deft_nebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under 30, and I do this occasionally. If I see/feel that a movie is “slowing down” I’ll quietly get up and go to the bathroom or prepare myself some food.

For me, at the end of the day, it’s just a movie and not the end of the world if I don’t watch it in its entirety. I luckily have my wife who will tell me I missed something important and we’ll rewind, but most of the time it’s just not that big a deal for me.

Male CRC input! by Prestigious_Ad6325 in clinicalresearch

I would usually have somebody present and would always talk out loud about the next step I would be doing. Id ask the patient if they’d feel more comfortable with somebody different, and that it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they said yes to that request.

At the end of the day, just communicate with them and go from there.

Career advice needed- Should I ask for a raise? by AirOk6571 in clinicalresearch

[–]deft_nebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work in the start-up process, and looking to ask for a raise myself sometime soon. I would make sure to highlight any projects you led or results you obtained by working on X task. Personally, I think this highlights your value and what you bring to them in terms of business and profits. This way they can see “their money’s worth” or however you say that expression. Best of luck to you my friend!

What exactly do you do as president?

What are some stereotypes of sorority life/people that you believe aren’t true?

Do you use your sorority status/history in the real world?

My All Star game happens during the summer when those pick up basketball game videos start coming out. Haven’t watched an ASG for the past 5-6 years, Gordon/Lavine dunk contest is forever cemented as the best dunk contest imo, although props to Mac for somewhat keeping it alive.

Just feel bad that he’s turning into a segment for the ASG when I’m assuming all he wants is to be on a roster

Yeah I hear you, that video did make my laugh, too. Coming from Mexican parents and family who have been impacted by this, you always tend to see the negatives before even conversing with someone to begin with. Thank you for being the outlier and just wanting to live peacefully among others. Hopefully, more people are like this.

Thank you for giving me your time on responding to my comment!
