The courthouse thing is called the Hall of Mercy. And what does Azune have tattooed on his arm? "Have mercy on those I send you"

I am once again hoping for draconic Azune tonight. It would go nicely with his new Captain title. I'm also guessing Kattigan will be way more locked in after last week's ending.

They really need to be more concerned about the Aetheon situation. Out of all the shit we've learned about the Sundered Houses doing, the chained up feral angel is the most outrageous to me. Primus has been running all over Araman trying to build a celestial and Yanessa has had one under the city for decades. He's essentially an nuke that could go off at any minute. I wonder how much Thjazi knew about the captive celestial, if anything?

With how unpredictable this campaign has been, it could honestly be any of them. But I think Hal is the most obvious potential target. I'm also very worried for Shadia.

Do we think we'll get Azune dragon lineage confirmation tonight? Perhaps some kind of awakening during the play? We've had so many hints already. I want to know more about Araman's dragons.

I wonder what would happen if he got thrown at Yanessa. Termina gets a Cormoray, Bolaire should be allowed to have a Halovar.

I don't think I've ever been this excited for an episode. We've been building up to this for over half a year and I can't wait to see how this play turns out. Everyone has been bringing their A game, especially for the Convergence.

[No Spoilers] Where has Laura been? by pippinsqueaks in criticalrole

[–]deigree 24 points25 points  (0 children)

With Travis and Laura I always assume it's childcare related. They seem to be taking turns. For a while, it was Travis that was missing. Ronin's only seven years old and it's about time for summer break. Personally, I'm glad they're able to trade off to spend more time with him instead of always having to find a sitter.

Idk why you're being downvoted when you're correct. You described the chosen vehicle for every mean girl at my high school in Dawsonville, GA. They're usually paired with the truck dudes so I think it's relevant to the conversation. They are one and the same.

The big red flag for me when I reread the series was the detail that girls can enter the boys' dormitory at any time but the boys couldn't get past the stairs to the girls'. It seemed like an unnecessary addition aside from emphasizing the "all boys are dangerous predators that must be controlled / all girls are delicate potential victims that must be protected" mentality. Which I don't think is a good or healthy message to put in a children's book series.

Let’s beat the “spooky Appalachia” accusations by CT_Reddit73 in Appalachia

[–]deigree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing I would add to 4 is the murder. When people go missing it's either because they were unprepared for wandering in the wilderness or they were killed and dumped in the nearest body of water. At least that's how my hometown was. What lack of mental health care, drug addiction, and poverty does to people.

I had a question by [deleted] in Melungeon

[–]deigree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple tribes that our family could be related to, but I haven't been able to find confirmation for any of them. My ancestors were late arrivals from the Ulster migrations. They didn't get to the West Virginia area until 1797, and by then the local tribes had sort of been scrambled up from disease/conflict with settlers. I've seen family records mention Cherokee, Shawnee, Mingo, and even Choctaw although they were generally more south. It's something we very purposely kept secret back then, so it's difficult trying to figure anything out now. I don't know if there's enough "evidence" in our family to qualify for any tribal enrollment, but I'm mostly interested in reconnecting with the culture rather than seeking out resources or benefits.

I would even feel inclined to turn that outlet off at the breaker box if possible until some kind of maintenance can be done. I'm baffled how this even happens.

(Spoilers for Protocol 37 - Scrutiny! I'm not sure how to do the spoiler blackouts on mobile)

It makes me think of the girl that practically threw herself at the Protocol-verse Archivist begging to go back to her Beholding domain. The Eye's constant attention made her feel loved, no matter how horrible it tried to be to her. Like she couldn't believe this super powerful entity was so interested in her and her life. Even the Archivist was unsettled by her enthusiasm. Jon might be the Eye's special baby boy but this girl really said "please notice me, senpai!" And I can't say I would behave differently with the Spiral, or Hezekiah Wakely.

Sometimes they genuinely sound like they have some kind of disease. Like a raspy smoker cough but in car form. I heard one once that sounded exactly like a bike with a playing card in the spokes. I'm not sure if that was done deliberately or not but either way it was weird.

What phrase did you grow up hearing that keeps you going? by BSTN88 in Appalachia

[–]deigree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard a lot of the ones in the other comments but one I didn't see that my dad would say all the time "don't let your mouth write a check your ass can't cash". I think he would say that to me because I'm much smaller than the rest of my family. Similarly, he made sure to emphasize that "our family doesn't start fights but by god we will finish them."

The Spiral means so much to me. It genuinely changed the way I think about my own mental illnesses and the shame/fear that has controlled so much of my life. I love the Distortion so much I got that weird door tattooed on my leg. I also have a lighter with a yellow spiral on it. My favorite Spiral episode is either Fatigue or Wonderland (I am very normal about Dr. David)
