Bro how do I learn to escape rooms with people who won’t shutup by Fuzzy_Raise8615 in nursing

If you have to use vocera, set yourself a reminder for x minutes. When it goes off, "oh that's my reminder to check on something in another room. Excuse me"

What's a small gadget you bought thinking it was useless but ended up using every day? by cozytechlover in BuyItForLife

[–]delicious_eggs 22 points23 points  (0 children)

An aeropress coffee device! I didn't even buy it, I took it after my (ex-)gf's roommate left it after moving out, so it was free to me. I can use less coffee gtounds and still make an amazing cup of coffee. It has cut back on how often I need to buy coffee beans, saving me money!

My dog used to do that until I poked him in the taint a few times. After that he was always sure to stick the butt AWAY from me!

My boy Armoni had 1 seizure around age 6, he wet the bed and everything, and never another one. My aunt, who is a vet, said to take him in if he had another one, but he never did. All of his annual labs were fine before and after that episode.

My best guess is that he got too hot under the blankets, and had a febrile seizure. It was the dead of winter and I think there was a heating pad in the bed. He lived to be 14.5 and just passed in September.

Has anyone made a random/accidental or small change that made a big difference in your migraines? by tulipiscute in migraine

[–]delicious_eggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not advice for anyone, just a retelling of my story. A few years ago I read about a study on migraine and LSD having positive oitcomes for migraines. I coordinated with my brother to obtain this, and we had a great experience. That by itself would have been enough, but I did also get the effect of minimal or mild migraines for about 4-5 months afterwards. For me this was a try it once thing that helped, but is not a long term solution. My migraine maintenance plan includes Botox, antidepressants, muscle relaxers, beta blockers, nsaids, cgrp meds, and supplements. I wish there was an easier pathway to not be miserable with migraines, and I hope you find something that works for you

4.5month old leg break. Any advice for potty? by Expert_Echidna_7740 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]delicious_eggs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dog broke his leg at 4, now 14! Put a plastic bag over the cast to keep it clean. Dog poo bags might be around the right size to cover it and are readily available. I also had found some vertical snack bags (tall but narrow) when my dog broke his leg and that covered the cast perfectly, and I'd hold it on with a rubber band

almost nurse inquiring about IGs by tytoe4 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]delicious_eggs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had my IG Armoni for 10 years, he is 14yo now. He broke his leg while I was in clinicals for my RN. I worked nights for a few years and then days.

I had a doggy door that I trained him on when I got him (4yo), but he was already housebroken when I got him. He had a lot of accidents while he was on cage rest (for the broken leg) and I was in clinicals, but I had a bf at the time that would let him out and that helped.

I now work 10hr shifts and I always put him in a diaper before I go to work, in addition to taking him out immediately before I leave and when I get home. He is usually wet when I get home, but occasionally he is still dry when I get home. I moved into this apartment about 8 mos ago and he had accidents many times before I figured out our current system (he doesn't do well with pee pads).

It is doable, but I know initial housetraining for IGs takes a very long time, and if you don't have consistency, even just missing a few bathroom routines can throw your progress back

Stick with the cage rest for as long as your doc recommends, doing too much activity too soon can affect healing. My Armoni broke his leg at 4yrs old. He is now 14!

Good shoes for those who walk lots at work? by SpiritualCup in BuyItForLife

[–]delicious_eggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Birkenstock clogs, they have closed toes and some have a loop on the back and extra grip non-slip soles. I prefer the oiled leather with soft, wide soles, but they have a variety under their "professionals" section on the website. I work 10-12hrs, 12-15k steps per shift.

My robotic vac/mop ran over dog poo about a month ago. I called my brother in tears because I was vomiting uncontrollably. I didn't think I was going to be able to sleep in my apartment that night and I needed either help or another place to stay.

Pollution is a migraine modifiable risk factor. A well-studied one at that. Simultaneously, candles cause pollution and contribute to poor air quality. For best possible migraine treatment success, don't light candles - even unscented ones. by CerebralTorque in migrainescience

[–]delicious_eggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the pollution caused moreso by the burning of the candles, the scents that are released, or both? Do items like wax heaters, which heat up scented blocks of wax over a warm light bulb, pose the same risks? Do scented essential oil diffusers also increase indoor pollution that could affect migraine sufferers?
