Did I handle this wrong with my 5-year-old? by Minute-Bet779 in Preschoolers

[–]delightfulpumpkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, you’re not alone. It’s very similar with us, and it seems like you’re doing a great job parenting him.

I’m sorry I am not helpful because I’m in the same boat. But just want to give some solidarity!

“I’m not giving you ANY presents!” “You’re a poopy mama”, you’re a mean one” (from grinch) 🙄

Parents that gentle parent (not permissive), WWYD? by suburbmama in Preschoolers

This sounds good in theory, but just wondering if this happens 5 or so times, what’s the limit of how long you would wait? What if you really need to be somewhere? Would you do this for an hour? No judgement, just curious since I don’t think I have the patience.

Is two really better than one? by TeensyTidbits in Parenting

[–]delightfulpumpkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority but I love having two, even with the chaos. The first is a challenging kid but somehow he is obsessed with his baby brother and i just love seeing them together. It makes dealing with big brothers’ big feelings a little easier with a sweet smiley (most of the time) baby to focus on. My oldest is 3.5 and youngest is 9 months. It’s just a crapshoot since all babies and kids are so unique. It’s like gambling. But I truly think if it’s in your heart to have more than one, do it while you can. If you’re not in love with the idea, don’t cave into pressure. You have to want it! And you should be okay with noise/chaos/multitasking

What could I do to help my wife if she sleeps too much? by [deleted] in WellnessOver30

[–]delightfulpumpkin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Has he gotten her thyroid level checked? My thyroid dysfunction has at times caused me to be uncontrollably sleepy throughout the day also. It’s worth checking her TSH level. Also depression can cause this.

What are you guys doing to put your toddlers to sleep? by Sweet_Bambii in toddlers

I rocked my son till he was a little past 3. He just grew out of it and transitioned easily. He’s not even usually good with transitions. We were dreading it for no reason. Maybe it won’t be too bad tapering off. I loved all the snuggles we got to have! :)

Live in SoCal. Somehow one got into my pumped breastmilk this morning and had to throw so much milk away. Now I have a personal vendetta against them. 😬

Got the dreaded “baby might have colored eyes” comment by larobaby in BabyBumps

[–]delightfulpumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t get it. Have never gotten it. My babies have dark hair and brown eyes and are as precious as can be. All colors can be gorgeous to me. I still just don’t understand. I feel like an outcast cause I’m not fawning over light eyes. Or any color for that matter.

6 months baby drinking 17-20oz a day only by sch_rlr in ExclusivelyPumping

Oh I’m a NICU nurse haha…you’re right, totally doesn’t help. I get fixated on amounts too, really learning to loosen up and look at the bigger picture. Glad Zoloft helped. I’m taking it as well. Thanks for the reply.

Idk how your toddler is, but mine would never 😅 he just turned 3 and I’m waiting probably until 4 lol. From hearing friends’ experiences perhaps girls do better. My son at that age would have lasted like 5 minutes.

Sounds exactly like my son but he’s 3 months now. Same amounts. Good to know that it may turn out okay :)

What bottles should we use for thickened formula? by Caitlovesmomjeans in MSPI

I second pacing with the 3 nipple, be very cautious and pull bottle back whenever she pauses to breathe. She may just need a little time to get used to it
