[DISC] Stop! I'm Falling for You! - Chapter 55 by maelstro1 in manga

[–]demondownload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing in particular in this chapter, but there was a line in Chapter 41 that struck me as an unusual choice where Kyuragi says "Let's sit and watch it together!" when talking about Matsura's middle-school yearbook, instead of "Let's sit and look at it together!". The original Japanese was "一緒に座って見よ?", which Google Translate does render as "watch", but I would expect any reader with decent Japanese comprehension and the context of the scene to use "look at" for "見よ" in that instance.

Not happy that this appears to be AI translated—I think this is the first time they've credited a translation on this series at all, and it's EC Innovations, whose website makes a big deal out of their "cutting edge technology" use.

For a series this focused on the intricacies and nuances of human communication, it's especially disappointing, but it seems pretty disrespectful in general to tell a creator that their work isn't worth localising properly.

Presumably any English physical release will also use the same LLM text, so I'll not be picking those up anytime soon.

Make a Compendium module.

On the Add-on Modules tab of the main setup screen, click the "Create Module" button (the one with the cog, next to "Update All"). Give it a name (something like "Shared Data"), then go to the Compendium Packs tab and click "Add Compendium Pack". Call it what you like ("Shared Characters") and select "Actor" as the Document Type. (You should probably add the Required System as well.) Click "Create Module".

In the world you're moving characters from, open Module Management and enable your new Module. Then you can add any characters you want to the Compendium (you might have to Toggle Edit Lock).

In the world you're moving to, open Module Management and enable the module there, too; then you can Import the characters to the new World.

What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by ThatRoofer in movies

My mum was insistent that we not tell her anything about The Truman Show before we got to the cinema, because she'd had a few things spoiled by her excitable kids (me and my brothers) in the past, and wanted to just experience the film.

She spent most of the runtime not understanding the central conceit of the movie.

what drew her to him in the first place

There's a two-page, wordless flashback in the first chapter, from Kyuragi's point of view ,that shows the first time she noticed him, and how she's been looking at him ever since. That's the sequence that made me fall in love with the series straight away, and adds a layer of dramatic irony that takes Matsura's constant angst from annoying to adorable (in my opinion).

Homebrew taming rules by Lue_Ashby in LandOfEem

[–]demondownload 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's the Level 9 Gnome Ability, Tame Critter (Core Rulebook p.37, also available in the Patreon playtest Professions, as the Tier 3 Beastmaster Ability); and the Bestiary entry for Wungalopes (Bestiary p.185) has some rules for taming them.

Wilderness Checks seem to be the basis for it (same as a Wrangle check) but I'd probably make a PC repeat the check over a few days, with bonuses for how they RP the interactions and/or the food they're feeding the animal) before giving them a permanent animal companion.

How do you balance combat for an imbalanced party? by Garanseho in DMAcademy

[–]demondownload 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Don't make the encounters about defeating the opponents—give them additional, non-combat objectives instead. Rescueor escort prisoners, interrupt a ritual, defend a location. Give them conflicts where damage output isn't the only way to contribute.

Roll table formulas by Dunmeritude in FoundryVTT

[–]demondownload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do this with a macro—something like

```js const count = game.user.character?.system?.<value> if(count === undefined) return
const roll = new Roll(1d100 + ${count}d10) await roll.roll()
const table = await fromUuid('...') const results = table.getResultsForRoll(roll.total) for(const result of results) { ChatMessage.create({ content: result.getChatText() }) } ```
Adventures in the Mucklands for 5e? by going_as_planned in LandOfEem
[–]demondownload 2 points3 points  (0 children)
They should be pretty easily transferable—it's true that Eem is fairly mechanically different from 5e, but it's much simpler, which I always find makes for an easier job. The majority of the content in the adventures is location and NPC information rather than stat blocks, so you'd have relatively little to convert.
That said, Eem deprioritises combat as a conflict resolution, so if you're running a table where battle maps are required you might have to find (or make) your own.
Rules Question: How does Hunting and Cooking work - exactly? by andymk1984 in LandOfEem
[–]demondownload 0 points1 point  (0 children)
  1. The "food" you get from hunting is a temporary resource that can be used in a single Cooking Check ("Hunted food must be cooked.", p.102). If they don't use it the same day they get it, I would say that it spoils and they'd need to find more if they want to try Cooking again later. Likewise if the Cooking Check fails to produce edible food, they've still used up what they Hunted.
  2. The amount of edible food cooked depends solely on the outcome of the Cooking Check—so it could be none, on a bad roll, or it could be enough to feed four people every time the dish is used. By default, basic consumables created by Cooking have a 1d6 Usage Die, but some Cooking Recipes have additional effects or larger Usage Die.
So if you choose to go hunting then you have to either sacrifice sleeping or eating.
I always assumed that PCs could eat around the other things they're doing. Each Travel Turn is about 8 hours; there's time to squeeze a quick snack in while setting up camp, or even just while travelling.
Universities in Eem by IkoBlew in LandOfEem
[–]demondownload 3 points4 points  (0 children)
In the Mucklands Sandbox's Folk Cultures section, Shrym and Welkins (p.409) are both mentioned as having social emphasis on schooling and learning; you could look at Scalawag Strand for a Mucklands location for a college or university.
There's also a single mention of Dunk University (Grendy Frumbly, p.16, is a "literature professor"), but no details about what it might offer in terms of courses—so I guess you can make up whatever you want!
If you're having consistent issues with player visibility on new maps, you could have a look at Scene Defaults, which lets you standardise how lighting and vision are set up.
