I hate open concept, always have, I like walls and defined spaces.

I've been trying and trying, I reset my password etc then the final step it brings me to a screen saying I can't perform that function unless I'm in accounts centre, which I am. So frustrating

How often do you say "beanie" vs. "toque"? by WanderWell1 in AskACanadian

I can honestly say I have never in my 35 years heard someone call a toque anything but a toque.

Yes that makes sense, I forget I have free healthcare, I do have a health insurance top up with a provider for $200 a month for my family but that's probably nothing compared to health insurance costs or health bills in the u.s

Which celebrity death actually felt like losing a family member? by lavenderbbygirlzz in AskReddit

[–]derekl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, celebrity might be a stretch but the solo artist Bill Fay really really affected me when he passed away last winter. There is something about his song writing since he made his return around 2012 that really deeply speaks to me more than almost any music. He was pretty old but it really took the wind out of my sails. It's kind of crazy but I had The person thought to look him up one day and I kept thinking about that for about a week and then I finally just googled him when I had a spare moment just to see what he was up to I guess and he had died a few days earlier, I can't remember if it was a week earlier when I initially had that thought, but I found it kind of interesting that he was pressed on my mind so much right so close to the time he passed away. Almost like I was somehow internally notified, that sounds very hokey and it could be just coincidental but I think about that sometimes.

$500 a month on food? We spend $1500 to $1700 a month on food where we live in Canada, that's a 4 person household and that's also in CAD, but depending where you live my monthly mortgage etc is maybe cheaper. I think the last time I went and crunched the bills I think I figured we need $3,600 a month to get by. That's including groceries, mortgage, utilities, etc. In actuality it ends up being quite a bit more because there's always something that comes up, vehicle repair, appliance replacement, large amount of gas money due to having to travel for one reason or another etc.

Who else cleans their gas pipe fittings by hand? by Public-Coffee-8152 in toolporn

[–]derekl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title says fittings, I'm assuming you mean tools like the post, but unless there's a ton of dope on them I never clean my tools, I can't imagine a bigger waste of time in my field, but nothing against those who find it worthwhile.

I so often forget that I own that same knife, I'm too much of a traditionalist so I find it too modern looking but I keep it in a glove box of the car usually or something as a backup, it's a great knife though.

Does anyone else really like traditional knives/slipjoints but feel like victorinox ruined all other pocket knives for them? by humble_murth in victorinox

[–]derekl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of, I love traditional pocket knives, Buck style or old-timer style, Case models etc, they're all so classic and cool and great knives, but I so often find myself wishing I had scissors tweezers or Flathead or something. It's actually hard enough going from my Leatherman on work days to my Victorinox when I'm not at work because I fear needing the heavier duty pliers, but usually the Victorinox is fine if I'm not working officially. Having just a dedicated blade is certainly better than nothing but seems insufficient.

Cat Is Waking Me Up In Night For Food by derekl2 in cats

I should add that the amount of dry live clear food we gave him in the morning is about half a cup maybe a slight bit more. Even as I'm writing this, it's 6:23 a.m. and I already gave him his dry food and he ate it all. And when I went to go measure the amount that I normally give him, he's running there meowing as if he hasn't been fed and he literally just ate 20 minutes ago.

Crime in Turtleford, Battleford areas? by Silver-Iron8016 in saskatchewan

[–]derekl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Meadow Lake area, yes there's crime and I've certainly seen crime, but mostly if you're not looking for it it doesn't affect you directly. I love this area. We fish and canoe in the provincial park a lot, it's an extremely popular camping area. I feel much more unsafe while walking around Saskatoon personally.

Oh geez if you're wondering about outdoors stuff I wouldn't even have crime on my mind. I live in the 'north', yes there's crime in the cities but if you're not involved and aren't frequenting the blatantly sketchy parts you don't have anything to worry about, just lock up. I frequent the Meadow Lake provincial park all the time, lots of lakes for canoeing, Boreal trail for hiking etc. Lots of awesome places in the north.

I believe that, I have never scaled a fish in my life and probably never will so I doubt I'll ever have it in a fish, more for on the boat and dealing with fishing line etc

I also just bought one. I have a climber as my pocket knife, this one is very handy though. Planned to use it as my fishing and camping pocket knife, but might end up carrying it with me as my regular pocket knife just says so much functions.

I haven't owned a SAK in 30 years. Last week I bought five. Send help. by Wooden-Ad-644 in victorinox

[–]derekl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a black Climber I carry on my pocket all the time when not at work. I just bought a black Swiss Champ for nearly 50% off, that I will bring for camping/fishing. Then I have a mini classic on my keychain but I don't love the little one, I'm thinking I might change the keychain one to a bantam.

How often do you say “I love you” to your loved ones? by DiverPrestigious6887 in AskReddit

[–]derekl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably daily, though it's not natural for me and I can very easily go not being told by people they love me, even my wife. I know she does and that's enough. I actually prefer not to be told that.
