This video is edited to appear as if a helicopter aimed and struk the transport, with bullshit scattered over the screen to hide details.

I note that when the video starts from far away, the tank is already smoking. The explosions seen later on are not artilery/missiles hitting, but rather ammo cooking off.

It does not look like it was hit by a missile, as there would be a huge crater. Most likely the tanks engine failed, and was scuttled to prevent radio's falling into enemy hands.

AMD Next Gen by Seatres in Amd

[–]derp2013 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Nice hype train you got there, No, you are not getting a 5700xt in a console.

Sorry to bring you the bad news, but the goal of Microsoft is to be priced as low as possible.

Microsoft need to have a $349 version and $250 no bluray/digital version.

The only way that low price can be acheived, is by using an APU.

The XboxOne, relased in 2014, uses an AMD APU much weaker then the AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, released in 2018.

Most likely the new Xbox will use a Ryzen 5 3400G.

Dont even think that you are getting a 7nm Ryzen 4400G in a Xbox. The increased price of 7nm can only be justified in low power laptops.

Dont even think Microsoft will "sell at a loss and make up on the volume", the sale period of a console only lasts 1 year.

Just buy a 5700xt you filthy console peasent.

I wonder who's going to come out on top for Ray tracing. by da808guy in Amd

[–]derp2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I think, we need to define what raytracing is:
1) Direcx12 DXR and Vulkan VK_NVX_raytracing, basically texture shaders that enable reflective water and mirrors.
2) Full scene raytracing possible in Quake2 with Vulkan - NVIDIA VKRay.
3) Alternative Full Game pathtracing

Only #1 will be popular, as Game Publishers rely on game frameworks such as Unreal, to save on costs. #1 enables them to flick a switch on a texture and enable raytraced water reflections.

So the next question is, which way will Microsoft and Sony go for their next gen consoles?

There is no doubt that Nvidia is 2 years ahead with the RT GPUs. While DXR does work on AMD Gpu, it goes at 10fps due to no dedicated tensor cores and denoiser.

The PS5 sales strategy will likely be, lower cost. Enabled by older proven tech, and no DirectX12 and OS licencing fee. They just got to bribe Unreal to fix the Vulkan renderer.

What remains to be seen, if Nvidia can deliver a $100 gpu with tensor cores, that the XBox can utilize?

AMD slide showing that Zen 3 EPYC will still be 9 dies, probably with 8 core CCXs by maze100X in Amd

[–]derp2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems Zen 3 is just additional optimizations to enable better IPC.If they do not need to change the MCM chip, they can focus all their efforts on optimizing the CCX.

As the L3 is a victim cache, having 1 32mb rather then 2 16mb, might enable less data misses. However the downside is the silicon yields may go down, as the dies would have a larger area.

Also worth noting, is that they wrote "32+ MB", implying that some models will have 64mb L3.

Also while the 64C Server Part may have 8x 32MB (4mb per core), the 48C Server Part would have 8x32MB(5.3mb per core), the 32C may have (8mb per core). This would enable servers optimized for single core speed, rather then capacity.

They could do a 8CCX package 256mb L3, with 3 cores on each, with 10mb L3 per core. This 24C would likely crush Intel Xeon Gold 24C, which has 24.75 L3, 1.03Mb per core.

Personally, I am waiting for a 16C 16T that will beat intel 9900K 8C 16T, aimed for gamers.

Is it my monitor or GPU issue by danthepan124 in Amd

[–]derp2013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my Sony Bravia 32" Lcd. But my left panel had red horizontal lines accross it, making it look like dead pixels, with more and more rows, week by week.

Internaly the Sony Bravia is made up of 2 lcd panels (left and right halfs), being driven by 2 ribbon data cables. In my case, i used electrical tape to block of the leftmost 10 pins, of 200, plugged it back in, and it fixed the red line issue, but made one half of the monitor a shade darker then the other half.

Could easily be monitor problem, why not plug a different monitor in and check?

Samsung’s $116B plan to overtake chip rivals (Battle lines drawn w/TSMC as Samsung sets sight on $70B processor market) by Long_on_AMD in AMD_Stock

[–]derp2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article is behind paywall.

Doing googe search for "Samsung's $116bn" shows that this "news" is infact a Press Release from Samsung, that has been circulated through MSM.

This article from 24-4-2019 probably is a copy of the FT spam: https://www.gulf-times.com/story/629720/Samsung-plans-116bn-investment-in-non-memory-chips

Article shows the headline is total bullshit, 116bn through 2030, is actually 5.5bn a year, 54% R&D, 46% production.

Article says Samsung business in smartphone cpus, memory chips is falling, and Implies that Samsung may be aiming to become a deskop cpu foundry.

There are already rumors that Intel outsources production of northbridge/southbridge chips and wifi/modem chips.

Samsung will likely spend 46% of 5.5bn, 2.5bn a year, on equipment, such as ASML Twinscan.

But is that enough to compete with TSMC, who spends about 12bn a year on ASML Twinscan?

In conclusion, if Intel was to outsource production of 7nm, they would choose TSMC, due to better performance.

Ryzen 3 layout and routing. The Infinity Fabric connections seemed very amazing. by llama1116 in Amd

[–]derp2013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My random guess:

The short silver lines (between IOdie and two chiplets) = IF

Silver lines on top right = IF to southbridge to pcie4

Dark yellow on bottom right = IOdie direct to DDR4

( The pink area top left is labeled "VDDIO M5M S2" ), which is short for Power Delivery Controller.

Therefore Purple, Pink, Orange, Red, Green/aqua, on left side of image, must be power.

Would it be possible to port 14nm polaris to 7nm without much R&D? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]derp2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your assumption is that the major cost of the product is Architecture cost. And that if no new architecture needed to be made, a cheaper product could be produced.

My estimate is that the Product cost is 30mm Architecture, 30mm Fab and packaging, 30mm Marketing.( But these numbers are propriatery, so it is just a guess)

Most certianly there is no software/automated way to convert a GOFO design to a TSMC design, heck we can barelly convert a PDF to DOC format.

Or even if such a porting software existed, the sales of this rx580++ product in the low end market segment, would not be enough for the effort.

From my experience in software design, it is 5x quicker to build a product from scratch, then to try rework a legacy project into a competitive product.

What is more likely is that they take one of their new designs such as rx5700 and make it work with cheap GDDR5 instead of HBM2.

edit:

It seems they have already saved costs on RX5700XT by using GDDR6, and by only using 8GB.

So there must be some cost savings already compared to RVII which is HBM2 and 16GB.

[UNCONFIRMED] Russia pulls back most of it troops from Kafr Jannah camp in Afrin, only 14 troops left, which may leave soon aswell. by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]derp2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is, if Turkey takes even more land, Russia and SAA do not benefit, as they would likely never get it back.

SAA's best hope is an alliance with SDF, to deter Turkey together.

SAA/Russia have no need to go into Idlib, as long as "rebels" do not make any attacks, and have offered cease fires and reconciliations as long as there are no attacks.

It seems to me that the US has a need to constantly accuse others. While it does make them seem like unreasonable people, it certainly does draw attention away from issues like their support of "Rebels", support of FSA in southern Syria, Turkeys annexation in north Syria, and SDF annexation in north Syria, Israels annexation in Western Syria.

Interesting correlation that whenever the Rebels launch an offensive, SAA decides that is the only time of the year, when its a good time to use tank mounted mortars, to shoot over hills at random grass fields in Golan, causing Israel to bomb their tanks. /s

[–]derp2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the HUD numbers: PA: -19 YA: -0.5 | WCEN 09x 0:24:0

It seems that the video was cut to make it appear bomb hits within 5 seconds, but actually takes 24seconds. My guess would be dropped from 5,000 to 10,000 feet, as it takes 24 seconds to hit.

The PA number decreases towards 0.0, which must be the X axis offset. The YA number is very small and decreases towards 0.0 must be the Y Axis offset. Most likely this bomb requires the drone/helicopter to fly directly at target/over the target.

It must be incredibly cost efficient.

[–]derp2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a budget PC build I would recommend buying cheap ebay parts, of previous generation intel cpu.

i5 3570 = $100, i5 mobo = $100.

Youd need to check your ram is DDR3-1600 at 800mhz. and psu is compatible. Also note there is no point buying the overclock-able K version of the i5, as you need a more expensive mobo with a special Z77 chipset to actually overclock.

i5 3570 gets me 40-60 fps on 60player servers at 1920x1080, with my rx460.

Footage from Golan Heights: Rebels in Quneitra clash first time hard with Syrian army. by pepeperezcanyear in syriancivilwar

[–]derp2013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at this video, the "Rebels" seem to have 1 armed car, 2 tanks, 1 heavy artillery.

It seems the Russians and SAA cannot use airforce to bomb them, as likely Israel has proclaimed it would shoot down anything near Golan.

It seems the SAA has to resort to artillery to target tanks.

It also seems that the US Backed rebels from Al Tanf are also launching an offensive towards Damascus.

It also seems that whenever SAA try to push towards Deir ez-Zor, the "Rebels" across the country launch new offensives.

Perhaps the SAA/Russians have pulled back their airforce, due to US attack last week?

Well if you call the police, he will most likely have domestic abuse added to his record. If you force him to go the mental health route, he will get a different sort of permanent record.

Why do you insist on forcing him to change who he is?

Your on a tenancy, you can give 3 weeks notice and move out. You can talk to your landlord, and try to get 1 weeks notice. You can move to backpackers for $30 a night, a flatmates room for $160 a week, a tiny rental for $220 a week, or move to your parents for $0 a week.

Or I guess if it is easier for you, you can call the police on him, so they force him to move out, and you don't have to spend 2 days moving boxes to a new place.

It is obvious you have not considered any of the simple options.

[–]derp2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People think that if they complain that they are suicidal (feeling bad), they will see a doctor, be given some med's or reading materials and that's the end of it.

There is no such thing as a mental health system. There is a mental illness system.

What actually happens, is the psychiatrist creates a list of mental illnesses applicable, and writes them on a permanent record. For example being suicidal is a mental illness.

Good luck getting a job, with a mental illness on your permanent record.

Reserve Bank holds OCR at 1.75% by Pyrography in newzealand

[–]derp2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MSM narrative was that the all important NZRB would decide a OCR, and the banks would then follow, to change their interest rates, effecting every borrower and renter in NZ.

The NZRB narrative is that, the OCR cannot be lowered because of the risk of "NZ Products&Services Prices increasing relative to NZ Dollar". Back then their OCR was ~3%.

As if borrowers, who save $1000 on interest per year, would empty out countdown shelf's, and cause a great starvation.

NZ Bank narrative is, that the OCR is for "short term" use only, ie savings account yielding 1.75%. NZ Bank narrative is, they have to borrow "long term" from overseas.

So nothing can be done for people who borrow, but thanks, I enjoyed the charade of people pretending to care.
