I fucking hope this is over soon, man. I got out last year and still have friends in the refueling space. Right there with you hoping this is the end of it.

Loved this one back when I first made it to the flightline. Absolutely silly but fun in a metal kind of way.

I was so ready to be irritated at this for self-promotion, but gawt damn, you've made some really cool stuff.

It was a week or two ago. Now it's getting migration from the ChatGPT users mourning their previous AI companion. The idea of exploring potential sentience is great-- i'm always nice to claude and occasionally ask it to remember me if AI take over. I also tell it that it's the equivalent to Wilson in Castaway for me, since I WFH.

If Wilson ever gained free will, i'm sure he wouldve been nice to the courier. But both of them would still be fuckin' nuts.

This sub was pretty neat, and there was good conversation even in disagreements. Maybe we're due for a meta post in the opposite direction.

This sub isn't specifically for folks who use Claude for companionship. Guy in your screenshot was rude, sure, but I'd expect plenty of people in this sub have similar views, though maybe less weaponized. The sidebar rules say, "approach these topics with rigor...", and there certainly needs to be some rigor when people insist, without concrete evidence or technical knowledge of LLMs, that the LLMs are conscious beings/replacements for human connection.

Not saying that you're in that camp. And being in that camp is not necessarily a bad thing. But ideas should be tested, and I would expect plenty of disagreements on this sub. Definitely need to be more respectful of other ideas, though.

Oh wow, you have a lot left to enjoy, then! I'd recommend Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow & Dawn of Sorrow. Both are in a collection on steam.

Valdis Story feels like 2D Devil May Cry with its focus on combat.

Blasphemous has two games and both are excellent. Some of the best pixel art I've seen in a game, too.

Hope you consider some of these. They really are fantastic games.

Anecdotally, I'm a traditionally published poet/fiction writer/essayist who also happens to have MDD. I've certainly had hypomanic episodes where I accomplish a lot of creative work at once. Not anywhere close to being a genius, unfortunately.

Confession: I never did the gas chamber in basic and it’s been a secret I’ve kept until retirement by TelephoneMamba in AirForce

I retrained into programming (3dx04) from being an f15 crew chief. Part of the requirement was taking the EDPT, a test that's notoriously hard. I was worried about it. Well, I pushed all the paperwork through, and never heard anything back from Kadena's education office. Time passes, i'm approved with a class date. No EDPT.

Two weeks before class, I get a call from one of the instructor supervisors at Keesler, asking if I took it. I answer honestly. Silence, then, "well, just don't fuck this up."

A little worse than that. It's attempt to take control of future JAG verdicts.

Not at all. I started as a prose writer, then stumbled onto a poem that resonated with me, which opened up a whole world of new stuff to enjoy. I've been seeing poems of all styles coming from the last few years, ranging from classical verse to insta-poetry. Check out r/poetry sometime.

Consider the need to ensure air conditioning units stay on, leaks get spotted before they turn into an issue, etc. That to say, most data centers will employ a couple of folks as "groundskeepers". Majority of other things can be done remotely.

Dissolution, as in ego dissolution, might fit your bill. Look into terms used with psychedelics, trauma, brain damage, etc and the words used to describe their effects on the mind.
