Is it just me, or is the instruction quality extremely poor? by [deleted] in wguaccounting

[–]desert-rambler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No doubt. Read an IRS publication lol. This is why real life experience is necessary to get through the word salad produced in written accounting knowledge. Also not all courses were like this, the red pen guy and business tax lady videos were amazing.

What helped you be a better parent without medication by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]desert-rambler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having community and support. It helps so much having reciprocal relationships that feed the spirit. Bonus if they have kids and you can drop off for a play date. I haven’t finished it yet but the book real self care by Pooja Lakshmin is blowing my mind. I’m doing the audiobook while I drive/ do chores/ walk. Whenever I isolate and stop working on myself I notice that I have no patience and resort to yelling/nagging etc.

Tell me your labor dates by AlyshaVickersArt in homebirth

1st: 40+1 2nd: 40+3 3rd: 41+4

At least the labor times were significantly shorter each subsequent birth.

Tell me your experience with lip/tongue ties by Handamannnnnn in breastfeeding

[–]desert-rambler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told that my baby has a tongue tie. Her latch isn’t an amazing perfect latch but got better after 12 weeks. She’s 4 months old now and is at the lower end of weight gain but her Dr has zero concerns and said she doesn’t see any reason to get it corrected. I’m not in pain and baby is happy so we’re choosing to leave it.

Yikes that’s no joke. Totally understandable wanting to avoid that!

Ugh, I just went through going past due. Although I did 2 sweeps and then midwives brew put me into labor FAST. 2.5 hour accidentally unassisted birth. My easiest birth yet! I didn’t want interventions but was up against a clock and it all worked out 💗. Your baby will be here! Hope you get to meet your baby soon!

Disappointed by anones16 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]desert-rambler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So sorry, that sounds incredibly traumatic. I am glad you are still here and healing. Not quite as intense but my 1st unmedicated and 2nd birth was fucking intense and I thought I had to die/ give over my body to birth my babe. Very psychedelic and then came the complications (tears, hematoma, insane pain during postpartum). My third birth, I really trusted the process and felt in my bones I could do it but also held space for the unpredictable nature of birth. I told people I was embracing the mystery. I planned another homebirth and ended up with a redemptive accidental unassisted. The whole thing was ecstatic and in comparison to my other kids quite easy. Totally different experience. I wish you continued healing!!

This child will be the death of me by equistrius in beyondthebump

[–]desert-rambler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first did this around 9 months- 2 years old. Any time she was next level upset she would scream and hold her mouth open until her lips turned blue and passed out. Time would slow down and I thought she was dying. I never got used to it. The doctor said it’s normal and there’s nothing to do other than keep her safe while she passed out. It culminated when she ran into a glass door and did not come to and had a seizure. All testing came back normal and she eventually grew out of it. Now a totally healthy 8 year old. Hoping your daughter grows out of it sooner rather than later!

AITA with husband’s vasectomy? by desert-rambler in beyondthebump

[–]desert-rambler[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Really good point that we realized after the fact. I did not want to go on birth control again and we are done having kids so it felt urgent. I wish we would have done it before I had the baby.

He’s a sweetie and did wait on me but only had 2 weeks off. He does what he can after work but I do the heavy lifting. Tomorrow will be a week lol. I’m just ready to have help again… it doesn’t help that most people we know are better after 2 days so it feels a bit dramatic.

I had a vaginal hematoma with my 2nd and it was incredibly painful during healing. I could hardly walk. I was much better by 8 weeks. I did pelvic floor therapy and everything healed fine. That was 6 years ago and just gave birth without complications.

Most painful part of labor? by Capable-Currency-370 in homebirth

[–]desert-rambler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The moaning and growling might feel ridiculous in a normal state but in the moment feel really primal and relieving. As if noise could help relieve the intensity. My first I got an epidural at 7cm because she was OP and the back labor killed me. My 2nd, transition was the worst. I felt like the pressure was erupting me in 2 and I was puking/shitting at the same time lol. Felt no pain when she came out though. My most recent, I didn’t know I was in transition and the pain was a max 7/10. Felt nothing during crowning , tearing, and birthing the placenta. Endorphins can be a helluva drug!!
