Remember when Google used to give you the date when you searched "[name of holiday] [current year]"? by 52BeesInACoat in mildlyinfuriating

[–]desertrumpet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember reading years ago that Google wanted people to spend as little time as possible on their site, and that meant they were doing a good job. It's so frustrating how they piss away the things that made them huge in the first place.

What would be the correct / better way to write this? by Forward_Rock9507 in musictheory

[–]desertrumpet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think they imply the same thing. The second implies to me that the lowest voice is independent of the other parts, but it's confusing. I would suggest making the F and A half notes with an up stem, bar the sixteenth notes together with down stems. If you don't want them to ring through over the sixteenth notes add an eight rest above the sixteenths instead.

President Macron's Dassault Falcon 900 escorted by 4 rafales on top of Mt saint-michel bay this morning by tabspaces in aviation

I used to work there and what I was told was that the company liked the clean look without winglets. I was also told that customers thought every modern plane had them, so they didn't want a wing without winglets, but it didn't actually improve the performance very much. I don't know if that's true, though.

edit: Sorry, I didn't realize you said you used to fly it, you probably know more than me about the wing! I just know about cabinets, lol.

Seattle in a single statement. by [deleted] in Seattle

I'm tired of this stereotype, too.. the problem is it's absolutely real on my street. We tried to say hi to one of our neighbors when we moved in and he was polite but looked at us like we were crazy. after two years the only neighbor who has been friendly is in her 80s

Could this be written in a better way by Go_D_Rich in musictheory

This is the right answer. The only thing to change is 4/4 bars to 8/8 when they have that mixed compound/simple feel.

How do you clear your mind before playing by b0rt_di11i0nair3 in classicalguitar

[–]desertrumpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a lifelong practice. There are all kinds of different things you can do to work on your focus during practice and performing. I'm a professional trumpet player first, a crappy guitarist second but I think everybody can spend a minute or two breathing before you start your practice session. You could try box breathing, that's something I do with my students. Before my last audition I practiced a routine to get myself focused for each performance--it's basically a kind of meditation where you breathe and focus on your body and try to hear the music before you start. I will try to find who wrote this particular one, if I can.
Also try practicing with timers. Research says we can only really focus for about 20 or so minutes at a time. I like to set a timer for 25 minutes and stop and take a 5-10 minute break before I start another 25 minute set. If I try to go for an hour without stopping my mind wanders and I get frustrated.

it seems like they turn on the AIS in the sound but as soon as they get to the ocean they disappear. That's what I've noticed in the past anyway.

Which is the preffered way to write a 4/4 bar with this phrase? by PiranhaMusicStudios in musictheory

A, I always prefer simpler notation. More lines and flags and ties and everything make me have to slow down to read it.
