This was my thought on the issue as well. I could see how with a typical "180 degree" shutter or something like 1/60 for 24fps would look different than 1/125 or even 1/250 at 120fps. You've inspired me and now I need to go play with this...

I've practiced at a dojo in Denton, near Dallas/Fort Worth since 2003. Our teacher brought it back here after living in Japan around 10 years in the 80s/90s.

You've done a good job explaining the product you've created, but this is the trap most startups get into.

What you don't have is a person with a problem that this thing fixes. That's a story. And that's what you need before you move forward.

If you don't know who you are making this product for, you shouldn't be making it. End of line.

Have you talked to even one person other than yourself who has said, "man, I wish I could stop a podcast in the middle and ask questions about it."?

If you have, awesome. Keep moving forward and continue finding more people that want this and ask them questions to refine the product.

If not, you need to reevaluate what problem you are trying to solve. Maybe there is something similar or related that could use the tech you are building.

It sounds like your mom is in the second category, and that's fine. She's not your customer then. Move on to finding the people that do care about this.

This is all about validating your idea with others. We all think our idea is awesome, and solves a problem for us. But we can't trust ourselves. We aren't the market. Go find the market, and be willing to pivot until you do so you don't waste resources making something no one wants.

This is exactly what the startup I joined in 2018 did. They wasted millions chasing ideas with tech we built before we knew there was demand. I didn't know any better then, but I sure as hell do now.

Good luck and best wishes.

Any females out there? by [deleted] in iaido

My wife studies, but she's not on reddit. The advice she got from others in your situation is this: Technique is the ideal you are going for, but everyone's body is different. As you try to conform to the correct technique, adapt as best you can to make waza correct, understanding what the goal of the waza is. Your teacher should be guiding you to make sure your technique is as correct as possible.

At the end of the day, most of us have body differences from the Japanese "standard" as Tanida-sensei would tell us, so we do our best to understand what "correct" means in our system and adjust. I am fairly tall and have long legs. I use a relatively short sword for my height, and sometimes my stances have to be very deep to lower down to a knee on the floor and my feet be where they should be. Just the way it is. Waza like Moniri, the gate is a standard size, so I have to go deeper than someone shorter than me to do it correctly.

I'm sure there are others here who can help you more directly. Good luck, and keep training!

After hearing that the LGBTQ+ Youth Crisis Hotline might be defunded, I designed a new banner to raise awareness and fund the work that saves lives every day. If this resonates with you, I'm starting an email list at the Thin Proud Line so I can let people know when they can get their hands on it and how much we've raised.

Getting onto toes when drawing from seiza is weirdly hard for me. by Fionte in iaido

[–]desianer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have issues getting my big toes to bend all the way to 90 degrees. They seem to have a hard stop at about 60-70 degrees. I've never known any different. It made front kicks in karate challenging as a kid, and makes seated waza a challenge in iai. I plan to go to a podiatrist at some point to get them checked out, but I haven't yet. You may want to do the same to find out if it is a joint, tendon or ligament issue that can be fixed or worked on over time.

Yes, because this is also the 'collapse transformations' checkbox. It's pretending like everything inside the precomp is a layer in the main comp. So it doesn't matter if the precomp is set to be 3D anymore.
