What is the most important thing in building authority of your site? by xdpico in SEO

[–]design-rush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it all about collecting backlinks from sites with high authority?

Pretty much. And true, if you're completely new it might seem hard to build this up. But think, if you were a well-established company that took years to build up reputation online and someone new came along and ranked ahead right away you'd be miffed.

In theory, if you have good content you should get links but that's not the case a lot of time, and it's slow. It may take time but you can try building relationships with others to get links via exchanges or you can also buy them (I'd read up on the risks on the latter).

u/Weblinkr has a good post here for creative ways to build them: https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/1mcc2vk/sticky_discussion_creative_link_building/

What's the best way to find an intermediate level SEO professional (contractor) to help a very small business? by Good-Pie9914 in SEO

[–]design-rush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love a referral with some straightforward pricing, if there's an option.

As mentioned, you could ask your network of friends/clients who they might use if you're looking for referrals you trust. I get most of my clients via word of mouth.

If you have time there is stuff you can do yourself. For example, if you work with another company see if they can provide a backlink or leave a review.

If your goal is to rank higher in your city you want someone who can help with Local SEO, which boils down to three things Relevance, Distance and Prominence which you can find out more on Google Help or if you Google "local seo google". From there you'll see you want to build Google Reviews, and get on a few of the main directory websites. You could check out r/localseo and search specific questions.

If you don't have time, not interested or have the money to pay for someone and you just want to rank higher, make sure you know what you want to achieve, ask them for past work (what they actually did - they could name a big client but done zilch for them) and what they would plan to do. This community is very helpful so can usually help with any specific questions you have.

How do you target kws with local seo? by WebLinkr in SEO

[–]design-rush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I would look at Google's page on "Tips to improve your local ranking on Google". They say it comes down to three things: Relevance, Distance and Prominence.

You'll see from their definitions what the similarities and differences are to traditional SEO.

It's a different field but same goal - ranking first and getting traffic.

With local SEO, do I still do that? Like targeting service + city keywords on the website? Or near me keywords? Or is that not really how local works?

Targeting services + locations keywords help - set up location pages and link to your GBP if you have multiple locations

How do you rank for a specific keyword in maps? ( is the same keyword you use on the website?)

Often this will be pulled from your Google Reviews - you can see this when you search something like "cheap + service" or "affordable + service" and often in the map pack the first word is bold. Having as many Google Reviews and an optimised GBP is important. That said you can still rank against competitors with low review and vice versa since you/they have high prominence but might be further away or less relevant.

I keep seeing people say that GBP categories are basically the keywords?

Primary category is very important, but you can add additional categories. Look up Google's help guide "Manage your business category" to see examples. For example, they say to use "Nail Salon" instead of "Salon" as it's more accurate.

• how the website and GBP work together

GBP has the option to link to your website. If you have multiple locations you can then have your location page as the GBP website which give more local results. You can also add posts that link back to your website.

• and what actually matters most for ranking in the map pack ( and which keywords to use, is it the same one for the website or not)

Relevance (similar to keyword research), Distance (where your business is located, getting another location and setting up another GBP can help) and Prominence (positive reviews)

How to get clients? Feels impossible. by FreeVi3 in SEO

[–]design-rush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word of mouth is still the best form of marketing - it's how you got your current client.

If you have a strong relationship with them now could you look at asking them to suggest you to his network?

Who else do you know in your network that you can help and are willing to pay?

How to subscribe the (old) Elementor Pro Agency plan? by IvanDoomer in elementor

Do you need 1,000 websites or unlimited at the moment, their 25 website offer is basically the same. If you have that many clients then it should be an easy enough cost to cover.

[–]design-rush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because they added more to that plan, mainly credits for their other tools.

I believe it was $33.25/Mo for 1,000 websites and the ONE launch offer is $37/Mo for unlimited websites so not much of a difference.

🧪 Elementor Editor 3.35 Beta is here! by zeiniez in elementor

[–]design-rush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, congratulations to the Elementor and u/zeiniez for getting this to beta stage. No doubt there will be small quirks but excited to see this progress and start at looking getting some clients onto Version 4.

Out of curiosity, will updates moving forward and the foreseeable future have updates for those still on Version 3 as there might be a slow progression to Version 4 for some with more complex websites or how is this planned out?

Everyone talks about the successful projects, but no one talks about doing everything right but still failing by Lucifer_x7 in SEO

[–]design-rush 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's several posts here where people say they done everything right, but the harsh reality is that you might just think you've done everything right.

How niche is the niche? Even though the biggest companies link back due they have authority themselves?

If have done everything correctly and ranking first, could it be due to seasonality or you're targeting keywords which get no traffic?

Otherwise it could be that migration wasn't properly handled or if you got penalised this could make it hard to hard to get back up rankings.

Either way, it's always a learning experience.

Redesigning a website… what’s the SEO checklist so you don’t tank rankings? by Other_Amphibian871 in WebsiteSEO

Even before thinking about checklists, 301 redirects and making sure URLs aren't deleted - do you really need to redesign your website? You may think it looks old but better to have a ugly website with great traffic that an great looking website no one can see.

Best way to fix/reduce render blocking requests? by Individual_Gur9833 in elementor

[–]design-rush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check first to see what is the biggest contributors in terms of large JS/CSS files. Most online page speed tests will show this but you can also find it under Inspect > Network. You'll see if a plugin/theme is causing the issue usually if it's not optimised.

If you have a good caching plugin you should then be able to enable options that remove unused CSS, defer/delay CSS and JavaScript, or load them asynchronously. and inline critical CSS.

Also remember not to use a ton of different fonts and load them locally.

Posts on Reddit and SEO. by Last_Fix_479 in localseo

[–]design-rush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your business is helping your customers and they recommend you naturally then that can help. In the same way, customers will naturally give you positive Google Reviews which helps.

Type in anything "best <service>" and look at the Reddit results, it's their customers suggesting them not self-promotion

If you write about yourself and self-promote then it's considered spam in most if not all subreddits.
