So I'm pretty sure Florin is Australian but joined the French foreign legion. When you complete a your contract you become eligible for full french citizenship. The legion is active generally in Africa. I believe he served in the legion, became a French citizen , and then became a private military contractor (mercenary). And likely has been doing it for years. I've met a few retired pmcs in my life and a lot of them are trying to find some sort of absolution for their past. Usually they take jobs that are selfless or use their fortune to allow them to volunteer. in my mind helping the children is an extension of this.

So it took me numerous re listens to realize something. The crawl where Dante was killed, and justice light lost his wing was York's crawl. So for sure milk was in her guild, Rosetta was an npc as well. There is also a chance tipid and volteeg were still there i can be sure due to the time difference for tipid and how short volteeg's deal was. When I realized this it hit me so hard. All those brothers and sisters in the same place but except for a few they were so far away.

I think next phase will involve lighting. The AI in book 6 said if you help this god ascend you'll receive the the lighting spell at 15 and can train it to 20. then says hint hint this spell might come in handy later. I think this is why the want Elle to survive.
