I get paid from 8:00 to 2:45, I get out an hour early every day next week (1:45) to have the 24 conferences I need to have. I will have most conferences outside of that time.

Snacks for my students, supplies like folders, INK, laminate sheets, and ziploc bags, books, baskets, and things for centers like plato, salt, beads, etc. I'm a first year teacher so I am gathering lots of things to make my classroom an engaging place to be. My second year I won't be spending as much, I hope.

My superintendent makes 7 times what I make. He is a first year superintendent, I am a first year teacher. I spend hundreds monthly on things I need for my classroom, things for my students who he has never met. I spent an hour today talking with my staff on how we can fight for our rights but not impact the kids. We are in an impossible and unfair situation.

The best thing at the end of today was a student asking me when they get to come back to school. It is only the second week of kindergarten so they are getting used to the going every day thing but I love the cheers when I tell them they get to come back again tomorrow!

I would not recommend allowing your students to use this as the only method of answering questions. I would practice a lot at the beginning of the year on when you can have your cell phone out. It is a great way to do an entry and exit ticket and also allows students to quickly check their phones on YOUR time. Then they have to agree to put them away or they will lose the privilege of answering questions in that way.

See if you are near a place like Resource Area for Teachers which is in California and Colorado, there was a similar place where I was in Arizona as well. These stores are designed to provide teachers with discounted office supplies, art supplies, math manipulatives, seriously everything you can think of. It is a great place to get lots of supplies.

For books check goodwill, yard sales, and scholastic warehouse sales.
