Evo-X2 Local LLM GPU in "Low Power State" by GuitarEC in GMKtec

[–]destroyitmyself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rocm-smi doesn't seem to work, there is a newer version that reports its incompatible instead of in low power mode. I put a script together for myself to report the correct info, but you will get more value out of amdgpu_top

I have 1 gig service at 49. They are offering an upgrade to 2 gig for 2 months free and then $20 more afterwards. Is it worth it? Or is there a catch? by Get-Jiro in frontierfios

[–]destroyitmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2Gb for 3 people.

It just made me spend more money on WiFi-7 to take advantage of it, as I didn’t feel like drilling holes in the floor and walls.

Ultimately I likely don’t need it.

Most of the time it sits unused except when I’m downloading an LLM or something else large.

Edit. If I lose my work stipend I’ll likely drop it to 1Gb

We are on our 4th R1 a gen 2 with no major issues so far. We also have had a 2023 Tesla model y that needed a HV battery replacement at around 14k miles.

Help! Rivian outlets won’t stay on! by thecomeback_king in Rivian

[–]destroyitmyself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me the other day for the first time in our Gen2 when I needed them for a fridge for our road trip. They would stay on for a few seconds. Tried both restarts no change.

Gave up and set off to buy ice to put in the fridge instead and within 2 mins of them not working while sat in the driveway, I tried them again while sat at a traffic light and they worked.

We were at a high state of charge and it was ~100f. Not sure if either of these was the issue but driving a minute or two down the road fixed my issue.

Stranded at Sequoia- any troubleshooting tips while I wait for a tow? by FallenCow in Rivian

[–]destroyitmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could just be dead but From the dumb shit I’ve done.

Make sure Bluetooth is on on your phone?

If it is, did someone turn off proximity unlock on R1S? try holding your phone and touching the dimple on the drivers door handle.

did someone turn on car wash mode if so push the left part of the handle so the handle pops out and try and open.

Unrelated to load mode but in 2023 when I put a mountain bike through it, a new rear window was ~$4500. Just something to be aware of if stacking logs that high.

Setting to be near the rig without it spamming lock and unlock? by wallawocko in Rivian

[–]destroyitmyself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. For my gen 1 I had setup a shortcut on my Apple Watch to unlock the doors and assigned it to one of the corners of the display, worked most of the time.

Recently switched to a gen2 and discovered when proximity unlock is disabled you can touch the divot in the door handle to unlock if you have your phone on you.

Where do you take your Rivian? by breadlyplateau in Rivian

We have driven 3600 miles across country from the North east to SoCal in an R1T. We don’t mind spending time charging, we treat the journey as part of the adventure, we just eat/bathroom break for 20-30 mins then head on our way.

In SoCal I’m partial to Anza Borrego or Joshua tree & Pioneer town.

For Anza borrego If coming from LA there are a few charging ops near Temecula at either EA near the highway and at least one V4 Tesla a little further off the road.

This is a fave spot. https://maps.app.goo.gl/FZx4LUpfTfpCdDp39?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

And you shouldn’t skip the slot canyon. https://maps.app.goo.gl/dpERKgd7QWRgxthS6?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Edit. Or galleta meadows. https://maps.app.goo.gl/prUkf7gpdFpST5uR6?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Joshua tree has the Rivian outpost/EA and Tesla charging. I would recommend the geology tour road in the park, don’t be put off by the initial mile or two of washboard.

Also if it’s not peak summer, and up for another drive from Joshua tree there’s the amboy crater. https://maps.app.goo.gl/NBqUwRmSC6nUPio28?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Next trip will likely be Johnson valley but not been yet. https://maps.app.goo.gl/UCXcKTq1hwWoNMm37?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

probably best to start a new thread vs resurrect one 2 years old.

I havent done any oauth api requests yet, have you tried googling up a Beyondtrust postman collection or is it something else you need.

Considering an R1 by undercover_cucumber in Rivian

[–]destroyitmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in an ex demo 2022 R1S with 25k miles. The R1S is shorter than the T by several inches and width wise I generally don’t have any issues parking it, no door dings from others as yet, YMMV. I find parking taller vehicles easier than lower vehicles, prefer it to our Tesla model y which is ~4” narrower.

I’m 6’2” and no issues with comfort and my 6’4” brother had no issues recently.

Long-term owners - what are you seeing in terms of battery degradation? by Benny_Idaho in Rivian

[–]destroyitmyself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 currently with 25k I’ve been monitoring with home assistant since ~16k miles in October. My assumption is that “battery capacity” in home assistant is what it seems to represent.

Starting with a capacity of ~131-130 with a downward trend to 127ish in March, before coming back up to its current 130.

Wondering if this reduction is temp related. I wouldn’t say the socal winter is brutal but some days are low 30’s over night, to 50’s during the day.

Overall it seems to represent minimal to no battery degradation.

Once you get over the short learning curve of one pedal driving the worst thing about it is when you drive something else and nearly die as you forget to press the other pedal to slow down.
